  1. OK. That may work then. So I dont even have to pick the sailing yet. I may just do that

The above poster is correct. We had to do it TWICE. You only lose $50. One of the one's that we had to cancel....we did not re-book for over one year.

  2. I wonder how popular this has been? If you dont go you have lost an evening's entertainment that used to be included in the base price.

Oh for the good old days where you had professional entertainment every night but one.

Now that you asked this question, it made me think. I do NOT recall anyone coming here on the boards raving OR hating the specialty entertainment. I wonder why?

  3. Thank you all for responding!! Do any of you remember the costs of the taxi ride and the banana boat at Paradise Beach? Could not find it on their website.

I believe we payed $14 plus tip for the taxi.

When you get off the ship in Cozumel, walk down the pier. You will see signs for taxi's and shuttles. (short walk to stand) All of the prices are listed at the stand, so you cannot get ripped off.

I do not know how much the banana boat was, as we did not utilize it. After you are ready to go back to the ship, just walk out to the parking lot. You do not need to call for a taxi or shuttle. TONS of them are lined up to take everyone back to the ship. I would advise leaving an hour before even though it is a 10 minute ride. You may want to shop the souvenir stores in port.

Your kids are going to love this place. Have fun!!!!

  4. Paradise Beach in Cozumel. GREAT PLACE for kids. Go to their website and you will see. No cover charge like most places.

Falmouth....not much to do. Go to Doctor Caves Beach in Montego Bay. This is another great place for kids.

  5. These are two examples of MANY dresses I own. They are called "tiered dresses" and are sold at any major store.

Macys, JC Penny, Norstrom, Belks, Dillards, etc. Go to any of these websites and punch in "womens tiered dresses" in the search bar.

I have many imperfections, as many women do. The tiered dress hides every single one that I have. Most of these dresses go to size 18 and higher. They come from casual to dressy...whichever style you want.

I have about 12 of these dresses, ordered via websites and have never returned one of them. They are amazing....just amazing what they do for your figure. I have tried the fit and flare, as someone has suggested, and it only emphasizes my "pooch". Not flattering at all.

  6. My favorite designer is Adrianna Papell. She has very similar designs and her line is at Dillards, Lord and Taylor, Macy's, Norstroms.....

I have ordered many dresses and gowns on line from her. Have never sent one back. True to size...superior quality. Check her out. Most of her designs are between $100 and $300....but there are always sales and coupon codes on every website.

  7. The Splendor in May will be our first-ever cruise, and I'm enjoying reading all about it. Keep it coming!

We just recently upgraded to an interior Cloud 9 Spa interior room on deck 10, aft (originally booked Riviera deck. Figured, after reading a lot, that the $200 upgrade would be worth it since we planned on getting at least a couple of days' passes for the spa.) Now I'm reading that there is a smoking deck on deck 10, aft. I'm very sensitive to smoke and now am worried that our upgrade was a mistake! Obviously, I have no point of reference since I've never been on such a ship, but will I be able to smell the smoke from my room? From the hallway? Will I have to avoid going to the close-by outer decks to enjoy the views/sun?

I just wanted to let anyone that is sensitive to cigarette smoke.... Yes, the smoking section is deck 10 AFT, but it is actually almost "perfect" for NON smokers. It is a deck, overlooking the adult pool. It has tables and chairs. If you do NOT smoke, there is no reason to be on this deck, therefore people cannot complain. It is totally SEPARATE from anyone and anything.

  8. thanks for asking this...I am looking forward to a cruise on this ship later this year, and one thing I look forward to is the rotisserie and the tandoor at lunch time. Also the adult area being in the aft area of the ship is different from the serenity on Freedom and others which is way up top of the ship and very windy at times.

The aft "no children" is not the Serenity area. Serenity is forward....which is relatively small and IMO, has nothing to offer other than loungers. There are no hot tubs or pools. Just chairs. It is however, a good place for peace and quiet to read.

  9. Like someone else said, keep calling...every time someone new answers is a possibility of a different answer.

I bother the heck out of Carnival sometimes and it has paid off in the past. I mean, that is what they are there for...to help...I just call again and again until I get someone to help me in the way I want, heh.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I just keep calling until I get someone that says YES ....

  10. The Splendor is the only ship of the Carnival fleet that I truly love.

AFT....deck 9, NO CHILDREN ALLOWED :). There is a pool and two hot tubs, which overlook the sea. Great photo opts. This is where you should be when passing the Statue of Liberty and going under the Verazano Bridge. The deli and a bar are back there also and it is at the back end of the buffet, so therefore easy access.

Have a great time. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Splendor.

  12. I am a Senior Contributor for Trip Advisor. I copied my review for you to read below. This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. I forgot to put in my review that the mattresses were the Temperpedic ones. HEAVEN. LOVED this hotel.

    Here is my review:

    Reviewed 2 weeks ago

What an absolutely amazing staff at this hotel. Hubby and I only stayed one night prior to a cruise out of Tampa. After exiting the airport, there is a parking lot where all of the shuttle buses pull in and out. We did not even have to call the hotel for them to pick us up. The parking lot attendant told us he would be pulling in automatically every few minutes. The hotel is only a couple of minutes away from the airport and our driver was extremely friendly.

Our flight was a 7:00 pm landing and my hope of meeting the famous "Rosie" so late was a wonderful surprise. She did not disappoint. What an amazing woman. She checked us in quickly and efficiently. .After she checked us in, she gave us bottles of water, and coupons for a free breakfast for the following morning. When we told her we would be cruising the next morning, she asked if we would like her to call and make arrangements for a cab to take us to the cruise port. This was so very sweet of her and one less thing I had to do. Above and beyond is ROSIE.

Our hotel room was beautifully decorated and very comfy. After dropping off our luggage, we decided to go have a cocktail at their bar on the first floor. After a couple of drinks, we decided to get a couple of appetizers. My husband had the calamari and I had the chicken quesadillas. Both were excellent.

The following morning, after a heavenly nights sleep, we showered and went downstairs to Coast for breakfast. We were expecting a limited variety, but they had EVERYTHING. Fresh pastries, bagels, eggs, omelets, breakfast meats, fresh fruit, etc..etc. It was wonderful. There is even a 24/7 coffee and tea bar with cookies at the entrance of the hotel. Such a nice touch.

For anyone traveling to Tampa and requires a hotel.....this one does not disappoint!!!!

I ALSO WANTED TO ADD: This hotel has a cruise package (which costs extra) . Breakfast and shuttle to the cruise port is included. The only reason we did not purchase this, is because we wanted to taxi at our convenience and wanted to stop along the way for our bottles of wine.

  13. Very glad to hear this for all of the future Pride cruisers. Maybe they are finally getting it together after the refurb. We were on her the first week in December. Horrible...just horrible.

It would be great to read a good review for the Pride. Looking forward to it.

  14. We are cruising on the Pride Jan18. This will be my second cruise but 1st time at tender ports. Can anyone tell me how the tender process works? FTTF is sold out and I'd love to have some tips to avoid a 2hr wait for the tender.

We were on the Pride the first week in December.

Are you going to Belize and Roatan?

If so....Belize is a 45 minute ride and Roatan is only about 15.

At 8am....under the outside movie screen....there is a table and a person handing out numbers. If you have 6 in your group, all 6 must be there to take their "numbers".

It all runs very smoothly. They announce your number over the PA system (pay attention when they start) and you go down to deck 1 and disembark.

  15. Never said such a thing. Don't put words into my mouth please. I meant that THERE WAS NO VARIETY from day to day. It was rice/pasta with a few "side" dishes like mashed potatoes or half-cooked vegetables. There was no creativity. Rice Pilaf, Rice and Broccoli, Rice and Beans, or pasta, penne, bowties and... pasta. Were you there? No.

Wrong again...this is exactly what you said. We all know how to read:

You basically had two choices EVERY SINGLE day at the buffet: Rice or pasta, and/or some mystery meat selection swimming in mystery sauce.
