We did a catamaran up the coast to the pitons, including Marigot Bay cruise thru. Several people on our ship said they took land shuttle and said it was horrible. Windy road and very slow. I’m glad we went by sea.

Hi.  Was this a cruise sponsored excursion or an independent operator?  How long was the excursion and how much was it per person.  Thanks

We were on the same cruise in the Haven in 16714. We had zero issues. I did a Live review here on CC. We never even heard about this issue. Weird.

I am not surprised that you did not hear about our toilet problem.  Apparently it was a localized issue that effected a limited area / section of the ship from deck 16 to 7.   We were told it effected approximately 6 Haven Suites and I spoke with my neighbor and they had the same issue.  My wife spoke with a guest in the Haven atrium sunroom while reading and they had the same problem.  I am happy that you did not experience our problem and had a working toilet for the entirety of our cruise.

  3. Good morning.   To clarify, I was in a fully paid Haven, 2 bedroom Family suite that had to bathrooms and 2 toilets.  Neither toilet worked.  No upgrades were taken.  Again, fully paid for.  No other suites were available and no other cabins were offered even after I inquired. On day 3, I asked again about moving to any other cabin due to the odor, the inconvenience and constant challenge presented and NCL management stated they would relook and get back with me.  Again, no other cabins were offered and available.    After the 3rd day, management reported back that the toilet  problem was fixed.    That was toward the end of our 7 day cruise.

BTW, The chain of who I reported this problem to and discussed this with went from the cabin steward to the Butler to the Haven concierge to the Breakaway Guest Services Manager and then to the Breakaway General Manager.   All I received was excuses as to why nothing could be done on board and I had to deal with NCL Corporate and that they would be in touch.     This is an unacceptable outcome and the cruise was very disappointing.  NO TOILET for 3 days.  Unacceptable.    The resolution offered by NCL is unacceptable.

  4. I have been dealing with this today and I spoke directly with the General Manager of the Breakaway and he is who stated that NCL Corporate directed him offer the small FCC amount.   He stated that I must deal with NCL Corporate for any additional action or consideration.    As previously stated, this is an unacceptable outcome so far.  I will keep this post updated on any progress and final outcome.

Thanks to all for the feedback and suggestions.

    How long is your cruise?

7 night? Divide cost by 7 and multiply by 4 good toilet days.

How you want it is up to you. Get it right away before they offer you $100 or something or say to contact corporate.  Call your credit card right away and put them on notice.

I call Amex and inform them of a possible charge back situation and they create a file. I also find out what my time frames are and how to go about it.

    I had a situation 2 days ago.

Cruise cancelled and I had refundable air on Singapore airlines. Two billing cycles no refund. AMEX told me dates I needed to follow and on Friday I called and they already had it in my file and did the dispute. I got my 10k back the next day.

    Another issue with MSC cruises

Cruise came with a pair of massages. Had concierge book it after showing him paperwork.

After massage we were charged for it. 2 weeks on board and no credit. Called AMEX, told them on day 3 what was happening and they told me what to do.

At end of cruise was told 2 free massages were not part of my booking despite it in writing on their confirmation.

Dispute filed when I got home. 2 weeks later a decision was found in my favor.

I use Amex as well and will definitely be contacting them about this.   Hopefully they can help us with this.

  6. Thanks for the reply’s.  NCL on board management has provided us a letter that they have contacted the Corporate Office in Miami and Corp is offering us Future Cruise Credit (FCC) that only equals approximately 12% +\-  of the fare we paid for this current cruise.  I have expressed my dissatisfaction to the GM and he stated Corporate will only authorize the FCC and that Corporate would be “in touch” and contacting with us in the near future.  No credit against on board charges or partial refund of this cruise will be offered on board or at all.

I am very disappointed in this position.  I understand that things happen but it’s how you deal with it from a customer service standpoint that keeps Brand Loyalty.   The way this has been handled by NCL is not acceptable to me.

  7. Hi,

I am currently sailing on the Breakaway in a Haven Suite.   During our cruise, we did not have a working suite/stateroom toilet for 3 days/nights.   It was very frustrating to have to use the general toilet but more so to have to get dressed to use the public toilet in the middle of the night.  It was finally fixed yesterday.   TThe Guest Services Manager said the problem was caused by other guest who disposed of items in the toilet that clogged the system.  This effected approximately 30 staterooms and suites.   The last of empathy from management was awe full.

My question for everyone is what would feel is appropriate consideration for this very large inconvenience?  A future cruise credit?  A credit against your current shipboard charges?  A rebate on the current cruise fare?

I would appreciate feedback on what everyone believes is fair and reasonable.    Thanks

  8. Hi, saw this thread and was wondering what Luxury Cruise Line you selected, if any and why? Looking for something similar. Thanks

    Hello All,

I am looking to celebrate my 30th birthday with a short cruise on a luxury line. We are planning on having children shortly after and as such we thought we would like to take advantage of our last child free cruise whilst we have the chance (before our focus is on kids clubs, waterparks, entertainment etc) During the evenings we love dressing up for dinner and enjoying a long fine dining experience and heading to the bar for a few drinks after dinner. We generally spend most of the day relaxing by the pool with a book. We have heard that most of the luxury lines tend to cater to an older clientele and that we may not enjoy the experience. Is there a luxury line that suits younger clientele better or should we not be concerned.

    Thanks,

    Sky

  9. Hi,

I have been trying to reach Black Hat Tours / Taxi in Cozumel via phone and email and I am having no success. I took them this past Feb and we had a great time.

Does anyone know what happened to them?

Does anyone know of another reputable person or firm to hire that will provide a 4 to 5 hour private tour of the island for a party of 5?

    I appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks,

    Shaun

  10. Thanks Mapleleaves. Your point about an early morning departure is a very good one. I believe that is the marina we depart from.

PV Girl, I enjoyed your Rant. Rather comical.

  11. I have reservations at the Holiday Inn Seward and the Best Western Edgewater in Seward. Has anyone stayed at both hotels and if so, which hotel would you recommend for us to stay at in mid July? The price is about the same based on an auto cloud rate.

I will cancel one of our reservations but am looking for advice on which one is most recommended to stay at. We will be staying in Seward for 2 nights pre cruise. 1 day if charter fishing and the other day (which is departure day, Sunday at 8pm) seeing the local sights. Lastly, does anyone have any suggestions of what to do and see on our departure on Sunday?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Do you mind sharing how you recieved that rate via Costco? Are you a member or employee? I am a Costco member and if available, I would love to secure a similiar rate in mid July. Thanks for any tips and information.

  13. Thanks for the detailed report. How is the Holiday Inn in Seward? Also, how did the delivery of your luggage from the train go? Any problems?

Lastly, did you buy your fishing license in Seward? Any additional suggestions for the fishing charter? We will be fishing for the first time in Seward. Thanks

  14. Hi- I am considering using Wings of Alaska for a flightseeing trip to the Juneau icefield out of Juneau. It is considerably cheaper than the float plane trip offered by princess. Does anybody have any experience using them for tours? Thanks

I would be very interested in this as well. What are the rates for the Flightseeing Trip?

  15. I'm a little confused about this place. I think this is a fancy restauranat on the beach, yes? Not really a "beach club"? I am looking at this place and the Marriott. Basically, I want to know if I can: 1) take a cab straight there from the port/I have a bad knee and can't walk rough terrain or long distances so want to be sure there isn't much "walking" to get there 2) I want to rent chairs and an umbrella but don't want to be committed to a minimum food and drink necessarily - is this possible? You mention the hefty bill thus I ask....

Any thoughts on this vs the Marriott. And I know we are the only ship in port that day - on the March 10th Eclipse sailing. Any helpful info on this is sure appreciated. Thanks!

    Techsearch,

I am on the same cruise with you. Have you registered for the CC party? We plan on going to Carambola. Hope to meet you.

  16. I am traveling with my family next week on the Celebrity Eclipse and thought we would do a beach day. I realize this will be in the peak of Spring Break.

I have a questions if anyone could assist, please:

What time do the Carambola Beach Club open?

What time do we need to arrive in order to secure a chair? Is it crowded?

Are you able to rent snorkel equipment there?

Any other tips about visiting the Carambola Beach Club?

    Thanks
