    Hi,

Concerned June Oasis Passenger here. I was just playing around with Plan B options. I found some options. Actually really nice ones...  But cannot risk booking another trip and then the Oasis is ready and then I am stuck with 2 paid trips for the same time period.

Has anyone contacted RCI and asked to cancel and be refunded any summer cruises  now even if PIF and non-refundable and showing a planned sailing?

would it be safe to say that once the ship is at Cadiz, RCI can make an assessment end of April and if there are known, knowns... they inform future customers on any impacted sailings and cancel/refund asap?

    This uncertainty is killing me.

    It's killing this over-planner too!

Our sailing is June 2nd.  I can't imagine if I was on one of the May sailings.

Fortunately we have trip insurance, so I think we'll be ok, and I don't mind going on a different cruise or a land vacation, but it's the only week we can go so if we aren't on the Oasis I really need to start planning something different.

So looking at this itinerary on crew-center it shows her being "at sea" until May 3 and then back on normal scheduled sailings starting May 5th.  When would it have time for the repairs in Cadiz?  If it truly doesn't get to Spain for repairs until May 3 I don't see how the May 5th sailing will happen.  Wouldn't it have to be in dry dock in Cadiz at least a week (or at leas more than 2 days?)

  3. I'm sure this is a dumb question, and I've searched but can't find the answer. Is the internet package you purchase available anywhere you wander on the ship? In other words, you don't have to be in your cabin to use it do you?  Is the connection stronger in one area of the ship compared to others?  Thanks.

  4. Sue- how are you guys planning on getting to White Sands? Are you going to use their transportation or take a taxi? When they said they could provide transportation was that an add on charge to the $100 day pass? Thanks!

  5. Wow, thanks to both of you.

Now I'm rethinking if this is where we want to go. I guess just using their package is the best option, but only 3 hours of actual beach time would make it a no-go. I'm curious if others who have been only got 3 hours?

Also, did anyone else experience bites and stings in the water?

  6. Four of us would like to go Papito's at Punta Sur and trying to decide the best and most economical way to go. We want to snorkel without a guide, order a few drinks and eat a little lunch but don't want AI since we wouldn't eat or drink that much.

Papito's offers a 5 hour tour that is $35pp. It includes transportation, park entrance fee and a guided snorkel tour. $140 for 4 people ($35pp).

    OR looking at other options:

The posted cost of a taxi from pier to punta sur is $60 for four. The driver will wait for you for as long as you stay.

From what I've read we would also have to pay an enterance fee into the park in which it is located. Does anyone know how much the fee is? Is it by person or by carload? I've read $12 but can't find a reliable source on this.

Papito's states that they limit it to 50 people per day. Can they really regulate this if you can get in without buying their passes?

If we don't buy their AI package, but will order a few drinks and some lunch can we use their chairs?

Assuming they will allow us in without a pass, and park enterance fee is $12pp plus $60 round trip taxi, the cost would be $108 for four. Also we wouldn't be limited to the 5 hours as in the package rate.

Looking for advice/answers from anyone that has gone to Papito's on their own. Thanks!

  7. I understand that a sandy beach doesn't have good snorkeling, but daughter and I want sandy beach and husband and son want snorkeling.

So what I would like to find is a place that has nice sandy beach, loungers, food/drinks available(but not all inclusive) that has a snorkel trip that leaves from the beach or nearby and goes to the reefs.

    Any suggestions?

  8. Ok, I know we can bring two bottles of wine per stateroom onboard at embarkation, and I've read there's no longer a corkage fee.

My question is: how many people actually lug a bottle to dinner? We drink about a half bottle at dinner so would be taking a bottle in and out of the main dining room. My husband says that would be embarrassing. Do a lot of people do this? Will we feel un-couth if we do? We have MTD on the Serenade.

  9. I booked this excursion for my husband and two teenage children, I did not go on it, but thought I could give you their opinions since there doesn't seem to be much information on it. We were on the Serenade sailing out on 3/15/14.

I pre-purchased this excursion before we left and when we arrived on ship the tickets were in our staterooms and said they need to meet at 9:15 for the trip. In the discription it said that the tour started at 11:00 so I thought that perhaps they had changed the time. So they went down and met the group from the Serenade at 9:15. They waited about 30-40 minutes for the group coming off the Oasis to join them. They then boarded a shuttle bus and went outside the gated area to meet the snorkle boat. One of the reasons I booked this particular excursion is because I didn't want to go outside the pier. They said they felt safe and were't hassled though.

It was not a catamaran, but that's ok, I wasn't expecting it to be. It looked more like a fishing boat powered by a motor. They had 29 on their tour.

They snorkled around a little island (it's actually a little finger penisula that comes off the mainland Jamaica from the east) that is just to the right of the pier area. They were in view of the Serenade the whole time. Didn't see much.

The most disappointing part of the trip was the private beach they went to. It was knee deep in grassy, seaweed plants that they had to wade to get on the beach. The beach was covered in it too. So they couldn't swim and it wasn't great to sit on either. They said there was a guard on the beach keeping watch. The beach was also on the little island

They then snorkled a bit more and the guide gave them a bit of history about Falmouth. They thought the snorkeling was ok, but realized how not great it was on the next two days when we took taxi's to a couple of beach entry snorkle spots in Cayman and Cozumel.

So all in all I would not recommend this excursion, especially for the $99 price tag. I know there are so few options in Falmouth and I was really hoping this would be a good option, but if we go back we would not book it. I think there are no reviews because it was just average to bad, nothing memorable. They arrived back about 2:00, so it took longer that I anticipated, but they didn't feel like they had that much snorkeling time, so it must have been in the transporting back and forth and I'm still not sure why they needed to meet at 9:15.

Please feel free to ask me any questions and I'll get answers from my family.

  10. We are looking for a catamaran tour that is not booked through the cruise line (RCCL) for our day in Jamaica. We will have two adults and two teens. I have searched and search and can't find anything. So I'm assuming there isn't one other than the Dreamer that you can only book through Royal Caribbean. This is my last ditch effort to find a tour before I just choose a beach to taxi to for the day on our trip in March.

Anyone know of a tour doing a day trip catamaran/boat tour from the Falmouth or even Mont. Bay area? Thank you.

  11. I posted this in the money saving advice and tips board but since it's a Royal Caribbean trip I thought I'd post here too:

I have a cruise booked for this spring (2014) booked directly through the cruise line. I understand I can transfer that booking to a TA to get some perks that they offer (i.e. prepaid gratuities, OBC, etc.). So I've been shopping trying to find who has the best perks to transfer to.

With the US Thanksgiving holiday approaching I was wondering if any online TA would offer extra perks or better deals on or around " Black Friday"? Have you ever noticed this in the past?

  13. RCCL quoted me a lower price on a specifically requested room than online TA did for exact room, so I booked directly with RCCL. Online TA has some OBC I'd like to take advantage of so considering transferring booking. I'm confused if online TA will give me the price RCCL gave me which is better than the OBC but would love to take advantage of both. Does anyone know if they have to honor the booking price from RCCL? I have paid the deposit thru RCCL and it's been less than 60 days and not time for final payment yet.
