Correct.   It is a much nicer bathroom.   For us, the $200 is worth it.   It also comes with one bag of free laundry, two snacks deliveries and restaurant booking date at 125 days out.   But for us, it is about the bigger bathroom.

Thank you, and a bottle of sparkling wine at arrival? Do you get to board or disembark any earlier?

  2. Can upgrade to a club balcony suite from a regular balcony stateroom for about $200. The trip is for a special occassion. Is it worth it to move up? Heard it's a much nicer bathroom, is that true? What are you favorite perks of a Club Balcony Suite? Thank you!

  3. Hi, I have friends with family of 5 looking at a repositioning cruise next April on the NCL Prima. Their children are 4, 6 & 8. I've been on many cruises but do not have direct experience with any kids clubs besides peeking in some. Does anyone have any personal knowledge of the NCL Prima clubs? Her specific questions are: Are they open everyday? What hours are they open? Is there a charge to attend the kids clubs at certain times? Thank you!

Good to know. Staying there in early August pre cruise. Is the “subway” close by to get to locations quickly?

Yes, the cataluyna plaza stop is right there. Also, a bus. We bought a two-day pass for the hop on/hop off bus and walked a lot: 15,000 to 20,000 steps a day. It's very central to everything

  5. Just fyi, we just stayed at H10 Cataluyna plaza for 4 nights post river cruise. Loved the location, used taxis and the hop on/hop off bus right across the street from the hotel. Loved the staff, the breakfast and the free Cava in the lobbies and free snacks in the afternoon was a nice touch. I don't recommend a standard double though, it is very, very tiny even for Europe with not even one draw.

Easy with a taxi :).  Bordeaux is a pretty big town and the Renaissance would not be my choice if location was a primary issue.  We would prefer something closer to the Old Town/Saint Pierre area.  But, if you like the hotel and have no issues with grabbing a taxi than you can dine anywhere you please.

What hotel(s) do you like? What about the location of the Hilton Garden Inn? Thank you

  7. We are booked for two nights in the Renaissance Bordeaux right now. Then, will be sailing on a River cruise. Is the Hilton Garden Inn a better location for walking to dining, etc? Thank you!

Also, any easy to get to restaurants for dinner on the night of our arrival?

A quick google of "No Diet Club Bordeaux reviews" produces results of a few dozen reviews on sites such as Tripadvisor, Viator and others ready for you to read, and  might be the best way for you to get multiple responses to your question.and of course, some reviews have photos too.  When trip planning, sometimes Google becomes your new BFF.

You always advise me to search and I do. But, I find on here and other forums, sometimes people have personal experience, that's what I keep trying to rephrase and get. I know there are varied tastes, they eat late in some parts of Europe... Believe me, I do so much homework I drive my husband crazy. Just love to hear, I took this awesome tour, ate these great TAPAS, took this walk in the morning... It's not the same as googling electronics or clothes. For travel I like to hear personal accounts, when possible.

  9. Has anyone heard of this group and/or done one of their food tours? They do these in a variety of cities. This one is a foodie walking tour in Bordeaux for 3.5 with several substantial tastings. Sounds interesting but not much detail. Thank you!

How comfortable are you about eating late in the evening? Unless you go to a restaurant catering for foreign tourists - which will not be an authentic experience - dinner will start at 21.00 if that. On the other hand, lunch will start at 14.30!!

We are OK with eating a late snack and/or coffee and a treat and eating when the locals eat. At home I don't eat quite that late, but we aren't early diners either.

    A few answers:

The hop on hop off bus provides a good overview. You can also use it to comfortably reach further out sights.

You should get advance tickets at least for the most visited sights like Sagrada Famiglia, Casa Mila and Parc Guell, and also for any cultural events eg in the opera house or the catalan music hall, both sights in itself. Many other museums offer pre booking, top.

Do wander around the old city, visit the cathedrale, a couple more of the medieval churches and the palaces.

    What are you interested in?

A good guide book, not the aformentioned, will help to decide.

Do you think we should get a guided tour of the Sagrada Famiglia? Or, is just the audio on your own OK? Not much into art museums. Do like old buildings, love to eat where locals eat. Enjoy hop on/hop off buses. Really like walking tours. Would like a cooking class and/or food tour.  Love to stop for a coffee in the afternoon. Thank you

We stayed several days after the cruise. If I remember  correctly, the room is like a standard cruise ship room in size.  With open two suitcases on the floor, we had to climb over them to get to bathroom. I think the price is very good for the location, ambiance, and staff. Saved by walking to nearby restaurants and hotel is a  pick-up for tours. I think you will be fine.

Thank you, I booked it. Would have preferred a superior room, but booked for our dates.

We are on the Holland America Spanish Farewell cruise November 1, 2023.  Came to the message boards for info where to stay  in Barcelona. Thanks for all the input. Years ago, we stayed at the H10 Catalunya Plaza Hotel across the plaza where the Aerobus picks-up and drops-off. Small room, but adequate for our short stay. Staff very nice. Will get larger room if we stay again. The Jazz looks very nice, we will consider staying there.

Was the standard room too small for two people for four nights? That's what's holding me back

We have two nights in Bordeaux before our River Cruise at the end of March. Have never been. What are the must do's/eats?

Bordeaux is a very attractive large town to explore, with the additional option of visiting vineyards in the surrounding areas  i suggest you look first of all  at the excellent Official Bordeaux Tourist Info website which we have found very helpful in the past. Click the little flag for the english language version for easier browsing..It has a huge amount of info with online brochures and maps, DIY walks, public transport info and routes, and much much more.

As for where to dine, check Tripadvisor  Bordeaux restaurant reviews to see which might appeal to you most, and there are usually links to restaurant websites and their menus.

We just want to stay in the city as we are doing a 7 night Bordeaux River Cruise after our 2 nights here. Do you know of any restaurants personally, or a nice cafe... Thank you

great information.  I just booked the Renaissance barcelona hotel. Has great reviews and close to many of the sites we want to see.

When are you staying? I've been looking at the Renaissance, we are big Marriott people but was thinking I wanted something more boutique like?

We are staying at the H10 Cataluyna Plaza. We will have breakfast included, looking for lunches, dinners, treats, coffees... Thank you

Also, any touring information? What do we need to book in advance? Any good city tours to get an overview on the first day? How do we get to the beach, can we walk? What shouldn't we miss?

    Thank you!
