  1. My husband and I enjoy cruising for a number of reasons but for us it's about 50/50. We enjoy what each ship has to offer as well as each port. We try to go somewhere different each time and if we happen to revisit a port we do something different.

Hopefully we won't tire of cruising any time soon however we don't cruise every year. About to book my 9th cruise and my husbands 5th.

  2. I just got back from 9/25 - 9/29 cruise and Key West business had just reopened for the first time. There were several business not opened yet and they were still cleaning up from the Hurricanes. This did not keep us from enjoying hour stay there, in port from 7 to 2pm. We only noticed minor devastation from the hurricane we were told that most of the damage happened on the other side of the island. By the time you guys get there things will look much better.

Just wondering if anyone was on this weeks Carnival Victory and can report on how Key West is looking?

Husband and I are cruising on Victory in November and we are really looking forward to going back Key West. Need to check on the Hemingway kitties.

  3. I have never taken any of this stuff and by the time you're finished you will need another bag.

I take charges for my phone and tablet, a tumbler for water ( the cups on the ship are extremely small), and that's it.

Sailing on the Vista in April. Trying to purchase things I will need on the cruise. I have seen a lot of packing lists on the internet.

Did anyone bring the following items and find them helpful:

    • Magnetic hooks (I read that the walls of the staterooms are metal and these come in handy for hanging up beach towels, etc.)
    • Powerstrip (I actually purchased an adapter that plugs in and has 3 outlets on it and also has a night light attached.) How many outlets are in a stateroom?
    • Masking tape / duck tape (I can't imagine needing this on a cruise??)
    • Pen, Highlighter, Sticky notes, pad of paper (I can imagine using some of this, like if I wanted to leave a note for our room steward for example)
    • Over the door shoe holder (we are only two people so I have decided to forgo this - it looks like there is a lot of shelves in the bathroom for toiletries)
    • Anything else you found helpful?

Also I have bought some supplies to make a cool door sign. What should I use to hang the sign? Will magnetic hooks work or should I pick up some Command hooks?

    Thanks!

  4. I have plans to cruise with Carnival on Sept 25, 2017 flying into Ft. Lauderdale and cruising out of Miami. Does anyone know if the highways are clear so that I can get from the Ft Lauderdale airport to the Miami port in a reasonable amount of time. My group will be arriving at the airport between 12 and 12:30 and traveling from the airport to the port via Carnival transfers. The ship doesn't leave port until 4pm but we were hoping to get to the port by 1:30.

  5. No, that is not correct. Tri-Rail is not a viable option for tourists. It is not AT or connected to the airports... You need to take a bus or taxi from MIA to the station, then you need to take another bus or taxi from the station in Ft. Lauderdale to the airport.

Tri-Rail is a commuter train, and not a very good one at that. It's frequently delayed and there is nowhere for luggage. It's not designed for tourist use, it's far more trouble than it's worth, by the time you get done with it you'll be exhausted and wishing you'd have just taken a shuttle or rented a car!

I'm planning to cruise out of Miami Feb 25th and flying into FLL on the 24th. So would it be better to just rent a car and drive from FLL to MIA? I read somewhere that Super Shuttle is best because they will pick you up at FLL and take you to your hotel in MIA. Is there a hotel in MIA that you would recommend? We are only staying for a nite and just need a safe/clean place to sleep for the night. Thanks in Advance!
