That's a shame but it looks like Riviera handled it well. Was on the Riviera Travel MS Emily Bronte 3 sept to 17 sept from Cologne to Budapest. Unfortunately the ship couldn’t get past Regensburg, so all passengers were flown home from Munich today, a mammoth task for the company. The company did everything it could but low water levels in one area were too difficult. We went to Passau on a coach on our last day and you could see sandbanks in the water. Company have already offered us a 40% refund - we had 10 days of our cruise, so happy with this. Will book their Blue Danube cruise next year to see the places we missed! The Oscar Wilde has made it from Budapest back to Estergom over night so hope fully we will be ok tomorrow.
We are currently in Heathrow waiting for the plane.

Yes, indeed the ship is currently in Linz, so fingers crossed it makes it to Budapest.
I am checking daily on "Cruise Mapper"
And Yes, the Riviera MS Robert Burns and MS Oscar Wilde are now in Budapest as of this morning, proving at the moment that Vienna to Budapest is navigable.
There is heavy rain forecast for Linz (upstream of Vienna) so hopefully when I join tomorrow there will be enough water to go back upstream.

What! As a Londoner you never went skinny dipping in the Thames?
Well No, when I was that young the Thames was full of unmentionables!

With the current situation with the very low river levels and cruise passengers adversion to being bused around.
I think the cruise lines should look in alternative transport modes, here is my suggestion:

I like it! trouble is I don't have the shorts!
May I suggest the following Sea Horse DUKW

The Robert Burns will get to Linz on 11th and back to Budapest for 13th Sept (unless the river level drops between Bratislava and Budapest) so you should be OK. Currently, all boats seem to be OK getting there.

Thanks for that "upset cruiser" looks as if I will have keep praying for rain in Vienna!
At least the food was good.
On that 4hr bus trip did they throw in lunch as compensation?
I can see that the Oscar Wilde has been stationary in Vienna since the 7th at least but the Robert Burns has moved from Bratislava yesterday to Emmersdorf today so unless they reverse positions in the next few day it looks like ship swaps and bus tours, Ah well I must remain positive and think of the claim for compensation!

Hi All Bus/Cruisers,
Is any one on the Riviera - Robert Burns Blue Danube, Budapest - Linz - Budapest 14th Sept to 21st or any other Riviera cruise recently around that area?
I would like to know how they coped with the low water problem? as there has been very few posts referring to Riviera cruises.
I have been learning the song, you know the one! "I am praying for rain in California" now its Vienna. Well you have to look on the bright side.

Thanks to all again,
Fortunately as we booked our flights with Hurtigruten we get 2 bags @ 20kg each.
So I wont have to do any laundry at all!!

Certain ships might offer laundry service for an additional fee. Google the name of your ship and "laundry service."
It seems at least the Fram and the Midnatsol do. [edit] As I can't find information on other ship it might be that this is because they do explorer voyages?
Hi to both, thanks.
I am sailing on the Nordkapp in October so I will have a further google search but I am hoping a laundry service is available, at a moderate cost of course!
Thanks,
cruisajohn.

Hi,
I realise there is a laundry room but is there a laundry service like there is on main line cruise ships?
Thanks.
