  1. We were scheduled into a panoramic ocean view for March. Spoke to my Royal Vacation Planner. They upgraded us to an aft balcony and we got the future cruise credit (25% I think ?) - which we will be applying towards the cost of our already booked Alaska cruise for summer.

So I'm fine now. The credit makes a big difference! And since there were still some very nice balconies left on our sailing, I can compromise.

Even though we were originally sailing on that cruise solely to try out the new rooms!

I didn't enjoy the aft balconies. Had a Jr Suite aft and the structure is kind of a pain, it blocks the view to a degree.

  2. San Juan is the worst port for disembarkation. It's completely unorganized and it takes until almost noon for all passngers to disembark and probably until after noon until they cleared for imigration. Supposdly this is the reason that RCL has the longest turnaround from approx 6AM until 8PM for it's ships there. I am wondering if the other terminal in the center used by Carnival for instance is better.

I am not blaming RCL on this one, this really seems to be due to the local authorities having a rather lazy attitude ;)

All ships that leave out of San Juan leave in the evening. Celebrity, Carnival.

  3. Did you book online or through Royal? Hopefully that isn't an error in the pricing. When the Transatlantics were released there was some funky pricing the first day. For example when I priced the Serenade TA for solo it halved the price rather than doubling it. I'm wondering if I had booked it would Royal have let me keep that price (just over $2000 CAD for an inside) or made me pay the actual (around $3900 CAD)?

I booked it on Royal website, logged in and got $125 C+A discount also. Reduced deposit of $265!
