  1. Just back from our Baltic cruise and I can honestly say that the 2 day moderate tour that we took with Alla was the highlight of our trip and that it far exceeded expectations. From the first moment of contact our guide Angie was the consummate professional and her extensive knowledge and local 'savvy' enhanced the whole experience. Her grasp of english is notable and she was happy to crack jokes and to offer her opinion on life in Russia as well as give us her knowledge of all the historical and social aspects of Russian life. We were very lucky to have her as our guide and she is a fantastic ambassador for her organisation. We will have no hesitation in recommending Alla tours to any of our friends who follow in our footsteps. Lynne and Colin Walker, Telford, England

We loved our tour with her and hope to do it again

  2. Kruzgal:

We just returned from a cruise that stopped in Vigo and we hired Galicia Mystic Tours (http://www.toursofgalicia.net/) to take us to Santaigo and it was a great tour. Rose Marie is US born, but lives in Spain now and has a small tour company. She arranged to meet us at the port, told us the history on the drive, had a local guide take us around Santiago, provided lunch and got us back to the ship at the time we requested. One of the better tours of our cruise.

If you want more details, you can e-mail me at sunday71@comcast.net.

How many were in your group and the cost?

  3. Just back from Independence- wonderful ship and crew- whoever said that it was an unhappy ship as the Brits don't tip was so wrong. The friendliest staff we have ever met on a RCCL ship. Also we were so lucky as they started MY Time dining on our cruise and assigned the best waiters and assistant waiters to serve the My Time diners.

    Any questions let me know

Glad you had a good time and we also loved the ship. How did My Time dining work?

  4. "My Time Dining" option will be offered on the Independence as from 26th July until Dec 27th 08

"My Time Dining" is being requested more and more these days hence RCCL's decision to offer it on the Independence :)

  5. I don't have pics of Independence yet (we are transferring our Serenade booking to Indy in the next few weeks!) - but in my signature, you will find pics of her slightly older sister, Liberty. These were taken just before her 1st revenue sailing during the Pre-Inaugural when she was shiny & new. This should help you with your waiting too. Enjoy!! I am really looking forward to sailing on Independence next year (late next year!)

Good change I know you will love Indy

    see link for photos

  6. We haven't sailed on IOTS yet(sailing in Feb. 09), but had a promenade room on Navigator of the Seas (Feb. 08). We were on the 8th deck, mid ship. The room was fabulous!!! We think mid-ship is the place to be to see everything that's going on. (Forward or Aft you just won't be able to see everything)Noise was never a problem.

We have booked a promenade room on IOTS 7th deck, mid-ship for our next cruise. We think it will be better to be one deck closer to the action.

A friendly reminder....if you've never stayed in a promenade room before... be mindful of closing your drapes......unless you want to share a show with your neighbors across the way!!!!! LOL

    Hope this helps!!

    Hi COCKYMARK

You have picked a good cruise as we loves the ship.

    Some photos on below link.

ps I was born in Greenville SC and had a friend who lived in Simpsonville names Tommy Hughes

  7. 4cogscruzin: The cruise director Graham Seymour was extremely funny, very busy and everyone seemed to think the same.

triplefigs: My wife & I were the same but took a table for 4 and had the most fantastic funny tablemates,a real treat to know them.

    Cheers Doc07

Did you go to Graham's late night show? It was very good.

  8. To be honest I know what you are saying, but I did not find it that bad. We had a great time. Celebrity food its not, but then on Celebrity the food is great, but there is not much else happening on the ship

    Ian

    Hi Ian

Yes it was a nice cruise and some great stops but the Jewel is not Celebrity and the food was a better choice than this cruise. I see you are going on her again so tell us if any changes from your first cruise on her. Yes I would go again .

some new photos on my link...........

  9. Several other posters on other threads have bashed and given the food on IOS a bad review. Is it really that bad? Can anyone who has sailed on her recently please give a review of the food and dining experience? I hope it's just a few people who are never satisfied just mouthing off and not really a terrible situation. I'm sailing on the IOS next year and I don't want to be disappointed. I mean after spending money and look forward to this cruise I don't need to worry about my dinners being terrible.

I just got off on 14 June after 2 weeks and some nights I could not see anything that jumps out at you that you want to try. What we had was 2 pasta, 1 or 2 fish, chicken allways a cold soup and things I had not though of to make a soup from. The cold Prawns had no taste. At lunch the menue did not change for 2 weeks but did have a special on black board. We did have lamb chops one night and it said lobster and steak but the lobster was less than 2 inches long so it might have been a tiger prawn. Sweets were very small and they knew it because always asking you want two. On the Jewel last year and had great food. Bye the way they did run out of things for the 2 week cruise. But guess you can find something on the ship to eat. I can and will eat anything but this cruise was hard going.

by the way Cruiser Forever I will be in N. Y. in Oct
