  1. Hi everyone, I have a question.

My husband and I are doing our first B2B cruise on Voyager from Hong Kong to Singapore then continuing on to Perth.

Can anyone give me some info on what happens when the first cruise finishes and the next one starts - particularly when you are changing rooms?

Also, when we get to Singapore, will we be required to go through customs again or do we just get a new sea pass before the first cruise is over?

We would like to do an excursion or go and have a look around in Singapore while we are there for the day but will the fact that we are on a B2B prevent us from getting off the ship early to explore the city?

Any advice would be much appreciated! :)

  2. We have just disembarked Legend today after an 18nt voyage from Hong Kong to Brisbane. Our first cruise was on Radiance to New Zealand in 2012. Both were great cruises but Radiance still remains our favourite ship. She is just beautiful and travelling on her is a breeze, no issues and the staff seemed happier than on Legend. Given the choice, we would choose Radiance over Legend on another cruise. Radiance has more to offer and with Legend being an older ship, we experienced awful vibrations on her when the Captain pushed her over 18 knots. Radiance had a smooth ride, better selection of restaurants and better facilities in my opinion. Nothing is wrong with Legend, she's a great smaller ship and you will probably get a good price on her itineraries. No matter what you choose though, I'm sure you will have a great time. After all, you are on a cruise! :)

  3. Can kids eat at the Park Cafe on Radiance if it's in the Solarium? Does the cafe have desserts or just sandwiches, and do they make the sandwiches there or are they pre made? Also, what specialty restaurants are worth the price on Radiance? Many thanks!

Our cruise on Radiance was some time ago but the specialty restaurants were well worth the extra cost in my opinion! The food quality was great. If you go to the Samba Grill (Brazilian), make sure you don't eat for the whole day before going there because we were so full when we left! Make sure you don't have anything from the salad bar if you want to enjoy all of the meat. The restaurant was an experience in itself. I preferred to go to the Park Café for breakfast as it was less crowded and had a fresher selection than the Windjammer. Chops Grille was great, the food and wine was excellent. Izumi was good as well but we only went there once, was our least favourite of the specialty restaurants. If Rita's Cantina is still on the ship, make sure you take advantage of 'Happy Hour' and also the nachos, they were good too.

  4. We have booked a JS on Legend of the Seas on the HK to Brisbane trip and this will be our first suite. From our first cruise (and we have only done 2 so far), we have always booked a balcony so we can sit out in the open air if we want to at our cabin. We spend a bit of time relaxing in the cabin so we wouldn't like being cooped up with no fresh air. Since my fiancé wouldn't go back to an Ocean View or Inside now and we were lucky to be in a position to afford a JS at the time, we booked one on Legend OTS for our next trip and both of us are really looking forward to it. Our last trip on Carnival Spirit was great and the room (a 9B Premium Balcony) was huge and suited us perfectly. With Legend being a smaller ship and since we were on a longer trip this time, I was worried that we wouldn't have the space in a normal balcony room on Legend so we decided to book the JS which is a very similar size to the Carnival Spirit room we had. Not sure if we would get a GS or above because the price hike is a bit extreme and we would prefer to spend our cash saved on shore excursions or other stuff on the ship. We were also very careful to choose wisely with the suite as we didn't want rolling trolleys & people jumping above our heads, I'm a light sleeper and did my research before we booked! We are really looking forward to our trip, not long to go now! :D

  5. Hi Grady,

Thank you so much for your awesome pics & comprehensive review.

Legend looks extremely well kept by her crew, very neat and tidy from your photos. The reviews I have read about her recently were less than complimentary about both the ship's condition and her crew so I was very pleased to see and read from you and your fellow forum members' reports that this is not the case!

My fiancé & I sail on Legend for her inaugural 18nt cruise from Hong Kong to Brisbane, Australia on Nov 20 this year and we can't wait to get on board. Legend will be home porting in our hometown of Brisbane over our Summer months and it's exciting to see a ship from our favourite cruise line home porting right on our doorstep. We have only had P&O (Australia) ships based here until now (and I'm not keen to try them either!).

I do have a couple of questions though.

    1. Does Legend have European or US power points and how many of them are in the cabin? We will be in a JS for this cruise so not sure how many there are for charging devices etc.

    2. What was the coffee like from Lattetudes? Unfortunately, the coffee we had on Radiance was crap - Starbucks I think - and I hope it's much better on Legend.

    3. Did you get to meet the Captain? What was his name and is he usually pretty visible around the ship?

    4. I notice you did a bridge tour. Was this part of the 'behind the scenes' tour or was it part of your C&A membership? Unfortunately, we aren't at Diamond level yet (bugger!) so we can't access any of the lounges. :( We would love a tour of the ship though if we can do it.

    5. I don't suppose you remember if Legend's arcade had a Guitar Hero machine in it? We made good use of the one on our Radiance cruise! :D

Only one more decent cruise (or 2 shorter ones) before we can get to Diamond status, by the time this one is done we will almost be Emerald!

  6. Hi there,

We had this stateroom on our cruise on Spirit in August 2014. I have written a review on our cruise including more info on the stateroom if you would like to have a read. Here is some very brief info for you & have attached a couple of pics, sorry, unfortunately the photos aren't really the best, I took them in a hurry when we first got into the room. :D

    Ship - Carnival Spirit

    Deck - 7

    Stateroom # - 7299

Stateroom Category – Premium Balcony (Cat 9B)

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very quiet stateroom. Between 2 decks of staterooms, no problem with noise, even being next to elevators. Sometimes heard people passing by our door but no issues with this.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – The view was largely unobstructed but as this stateroom was in the aft 'recession' of the ship, the staterooms stepped out a little both forward and aft but this didn't detract from the view.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal for class, had 1 x lounger and 2 x chairs + table on the balcony.

Was wind a problem? - It was quite sheltered due to being recessed into the ship a little but our cruise didn't have great weather so it was windy when we were underway.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No, not at all.

Any other comments? - We would certainly book this cabin again, it was great value for money and plenty of space, especially for 2 people!

  7. Ship - Radiance OTS

    Deck - 9

    Stateroom # - 9254

    Stateroom Category – Balcony D2

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, very quiet. Between 2 decks of staterooms & only one stateroom adjoining.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – This cabin had a 'partial obstruction' which was the window washing equipment at the aft of the ship. I didn't find it a problem really but if you were looking forward and wanted to take a picture from the balcony, you had to choose your angle! The balcony section at the back of the ship was covered by the superstructure as this was the last cabin on the port side aft so was very sheltered.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversized as it was the last balcony cabin aft on the ship's port side. The balcony was longer than normal with a nice pocket at the back end. We had a lounger & 2 x chairs + table.

Was wind a problem? - No, the balcony was very sheltered.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No but I thought it was small for a balcony cabin.

Any other comments? - If you don't like walking, this isn't the cabin for you! We liked it and certainly would book it again, the long walk down the corridor wasn't a problem for us as it made us walk off the food! :D
