  1. Did you walk all the way from the top or get off at one of the stops on the way down?

Did you have to pay for the full round trip ticket to do this?

We did this as an excursion through Celebrity. You get off more or less at the top (might be one stop from last) and walk about half way down, then get back on the train for the second half of the return. The train up, walk down excursion was more pricey than the round trip. Not sure how you would arrange this independently. It was in early July that we took thr trip.

  2. I did the train up, walk back option last year, and would thoroughly recommend it. While we enjoyed the train ride, the walk was the highlight for us - the scenary was stunning. Its a pretty easy walk, downhill apart from 1 very short section and the pace is very leisurely. We were blessed with lovely weather, which made a difference but as long as you are well prepared for any rain, I would still take this option.

  3. We took the rib boat trip to see the puffins. It was incredibly rough and although we are young and fit, in our early thirties, we found it tough. A lady on our boat, a young looking fifty-something, hurt her back during the trip. On a better sea day, it could be a lot of fun, and the puffins were cool, but we both concluded that with the experience we had it probably wasn't worth it.

  4. We were on the Infinity in the Fjords last year and visited both these ports. At Geiranger, one of our favourite ports, we hiked on one of the routes from Vesteras in the morning and got the bus up to Dalsnibba (excuse the spelling!) in the afternoon. We had booked in advance and were lucky to the clouds lifted just before the coach left. What few people seem to say is that the journey itself is stunning, not just the views from the top. Its quite exhilerating as you wind up the last section of the road up the mountain. Highly recommended. We took a trip to see the puffins by rib boat from Alesund. It was incredibly rough and not recommended for all but the fittest. If you are also in Flam and enjoy a walk, i'd recommend the train up, walk down option- truly beautiful scenary.
