  1. I am afraid of being so low seeing the water that low lol...I guess I can shut the curtains, but what do you like about cove balconies?

I love the cove balconies, with the water seemingly at arm's reach.  If you have seasickness or related issues, then looking directly at the water might not be for you.  There is very little motion.  Also, you should know that they are more sheltered from the sun than "regular" balconies.

Almost always, depending on how early you get on! Surely be prepared to keep what you carry on with you for a while. Although we travel by air "carry-on-only", we give our 20" suitcases to the porters and only have daypacks with us to board.

The suitcases usually show up between shortly before muster, and shortly after muster.

Is it required to give your 20" suitcases to the porters?  I was hoping to take mine (24") on since we can go directly to the cabin.

  3. Ship - Vista

    Deck - 2

    Stateroom # - 2338

Stateroom Category – Cove, Category 7C

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Balcony view was good - very close to the water which was wonderful for us. Balcony is covered, so not so much sun, if that's what is wanted.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

Was wind a problem? - No, coves are very sheltered

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No problems at all.

Any other comments? - Thought we'd hear noise from above, but no - very quiet. Pretty good storage, fine for two people.

  4. I do know when Capital Jazz Super Cruise moved from Royal Caribbean to Carnival to NCL in the 1st year of each transition there was a wide range of comments regarding the ship, food & service but it was always overshadowed by the fact that the musical presentation was so outstanding that guests mostly overlooked until this past October on the NCL Getaway when everything (including the music presentations) went 3 sheets in the wind ... I will say this...when the Capital Jazz Super Cruise was on Carnival for 5 years there was a vocal minority who complained about Carnival (never about the music)...after 1 year on the NCL Getaway those same folks were wishing we were still on Carnival

I went on my first Capital Jazz Cruise on Carnival, and I agree that it seemed to have the best set-up for that type of music cruise. I wish that they would return to Carnival.

  5. I just got off of the Getaway on Oct. 30th. There were people in loungewear in the Lounge, around 6 or 7am, but normally after that, people had on "real clothes". Also, though it was stocked with snacks, water, juice, etc., we never had a happy hour bar attendant during the entire week.

  6. I just got off of the Eurodam today, and think that the public spaces were pretty clean. This was our third time on the Eurodam, and find that the waiters, like the rest of the staff, were mostly nice and helpful. I wish you greater success with your next cruise.

  7. We prefer the lido... At the Lido you can have the servers place as much or as little as you wish on a plate. you can sample several entrees at once--small portions of each. And you can take as much or as little time as you wish--you are on your schedule and not that of the server.

This is the main reason why we most times prefer the lido over the MDR. I love "sampling" the menu, and hate to waste food, so a little of this and a little of that is easier in the lido. Also, going on several theme cruises, we're often trying to get to a concert or other performance, and don't want to spend upwards of 2 hours dining.

  8. The water was clear and the beach was clean, but honestly it just didn't "wow" me as I was expecting. I've seen pictures of others at this beach where the water was so clear and a perfect turquoise blue but maybe with it now being just a little overcast it just seemed that the water wasn't as pretty. But it was calm and we had a nice afternoon enjoying the water. We saw a couple turtles, pelicans, a little crab and a conch, plus a few fish. It's not really the place for snorkeling but hubby did for a little while. He mostly swam after the turtles.

OMG, we eat conch here all the time, but I've never seen it in the shell; amazing! Thanks for that.

  9. Okay, I am sure I will get flamed but here it goes.

Guys Burgers...can't stand the stinch of the grease on the Lido deck from them and to me they are just okay. Give me a homemade burger with a homemade bun any day over those.

    I agree on CMC...not a fan here.

Agree totally on the burgers - maybe I was expecting too much, since all I heard before I tried them was how they're the best burgers and fries (which I really don't like) ever. I also think that the stir fry place is just okay.
