  1. Love Costa cruises and have made so many memories travelling with them, we have had Costa cruise points matched by MSC so are doing a Gulf cruise with MSC, just hope we have made the right decision, can anyone tell me the differences

    between Costa and MSC

  2. 2013 we went on Atlantica from Dubai to Singapore a repo cruise, so she could move to the China market.... Wow the best cruise and the best Costa ship we have sailed on.

We saw her last year in Shanghai would love to do a world cruise on her.

Trying the Diadema next sailing in September, just hope it isn't too big.

  3. Just got back off Victoria, Shanghai to Singapore... She is the oldest of the Costa fleet we have been on but she is a wonderful ship, no pool at the aft but great to be able to find a table to eat breakfast or lunch or just to enjoy a drink alfresco..

We had a balcony cabin on deck 9, the smallest cabin we have had on a Costa ship but it was perfectly formed, but I would advise to take a travel hairdryer as the one in the cabin you had to pull out of the drawer blocking the wardrobe... The only other niggle was that there was no real bar in the atrium... Would we go on Victoria again, even doing the same ports of call.

  4. I agree with you Hong Kong would have been good overnight, we did get off at Sanya and that was a day I will never forget, we had a balcony on deck 9 port side I think it was a little more than a sea rescue, but luckily some of the fishermen were returned to their families.

I would do this cruise again, great ports of call, a great table, and good friends in bars of a night, it wasn't cheep it was GREAT VALUE for money.

Costa isn't for everyone it's not perfect, but it is what I enjoy.

    ;)

  5. I was on the same cruise.

We had a great time and the ports were wonderful but the cruise part was one of the worst ive experienced. Starting with the shambles of the giant queue in Shanghai to board, easily the worst I've experienced for any cruise.

As someone who doesn't drink or sunbathe, on days at sea I had nothing to do,I ended up watching the dance classes in the main foyer for some entertainment. On other ships I've been on ,NCL Breakway, Celebrity Solstice,Oasis of the Seas even P&O ,there was always some sort of activity at the pool or show,or something but on Costa there was literally nothing.

I personally thought the food was awful, the portion plates were tiny and I was sick of the same things everynight ,either a choice of pasta or thinly sliced pizza and tiny deserts. I couldn't help but compare the "selected times" buffet on Costa to the 24hr buffet feast of the Solstice! Then there was my leaking cabin roof!

As I said, we spoke to a few couples and they were dissapointed with the cruise and ship. Perhaps I've just been spoiled in the past with ships and to be fair, it was fairly cheap so maybe I shouldn't complain.

I'm looking forward to comparing it next month to the Carnival Dream,I expect much more from Carnival.

The queue at Shanghai was long but we boarded very quickly, and when we reach the cabin our cases were waiting, that's a first for us,

Each to their own we had a great time and loved every moment... Apart from morning we should have been in Sanya.... Another reason to enjoy every moment and think how lucky we are ....

We have travelled on a lot of cruises the worst being Princess... We love Costa it fits us well, we have travelled to places I could have only dreamed about.

We had a great time met lots of wonderful people.

The staff as usual were great, nothing too much trouble.

The only down side was the lack of an atrum bar, but I can live with that, sat just thinking I wish I was on that balcony with a pink lady in my hand.

Have great time on your Carnival crise.

Have great time on you carnival cruise.

    :D

  6. we have just got back from the most delightful cruise on Victoria from Shanghai to Singapore and wow what a wonderful cruise we had....

The staff as usual were polite and gave great service.

Victoria is the oldest of the Costa fleet we have travelled on and she is the best ship we have been on....

She took us to destinations we only dreamed about travelling to.

  7. We have had 2 cruises with Costa within a year

We went on Mediterranea 2 weeks go for a 5 nighter ound the Med and had a great cruise. It was quit busy - and there were a lot of smaller children but they were all fine - nobody annoyed us or got on our nerves.

The food was really good and as long as you embrace the Italian experience then there won't be a problem.

I love that we can't understand what nearby speakers are chatting about - youre in your own little world.

We had a balcony cabin midships and it was all good

The only problem - the cruise was too short. We only had time for 5 nights.

LAst octoberwe did 20 nights Savona to Argentina and that was our first Costa experience. The ship was quite packed and everyone danced and danced at night - as they did on Mediterranea. We are more used to the P&O passengers who go to bed at 10.30 so we enjoyed the party atmosphere

As for the announcements in different languages - just chill out and tune in when its in your language. No bother!

Book a premium cabin as you will get exta Costa points and extra deals

Costa is a good company to cruise with - not the laughing stock that some people make them out to be.

The value for money is exceptional.

Couldn't have put it better myself

  8. The worst port that we have visited is Casablanca. It is one of the few places where it is so much better to do an organised tour. We did our own walk around and it was horrendous as it was almost impossible to cross any road and feel safe! We visited twice, firstly in one of our recent very bad winters and the European cold had reached the place so we stayed on the ship and secondly on a September cruise when it was not only unpleasant generally but also very hot, too.

Have to agree with you Casablanca wouldn't rush back.

  9. Having sailed only once with Princess, don't think this series will have us rushing back, feel this doesn't give a true reflection of the diversity of what a cruise offers, a bit like butlins at sea for the older passengers, we have cruised many cruise lines, and always found a more selection of ages and things to do while aboard, but then I suppose what we get from cruising wouldn't make good TV, over 15 cruises but never been to a show or a quiz perhaps I am a young cruiser who is boring but then to me it is the perfect vacation ......

  10. Last year we travelled with friends that don't live in the uk. They were in a suite, and she emailed costa before we travelled with our booking number, we were travelling in an outside classic cabin, and we all got to sit together on a round table in the middle of the dining room.

    Hope this helps.

  11. Just booked a Far East cruise on the Costa Victoria departing Shanghai on October 29th. Costa have given us a total price of $646 for two on the ten night cruise, that is approximately $32,(£20),(€23)pppd.Having sailed three times in the last four years with costa and each time paying €19.50pppd for the essential Extra package I still think at €23 pppd it represents excellent value.

  12. Correct, together with the Atlantica. Both have been refurbished for the Chinese market, and their cruises don't show up on Costa's European or American web sites.

Pity, a nice cruise from Singapore to Shanghai would be really nice.

    Ron

    Hi Ron

We have just booked on Victoria Shanghai to Singapore we depart the end of October.

Hope you and DW are well and got over the floods.

  13. Have a great cruise Amo :)

Seems a life time still we got back

Hoping to have a week with our friends in Spain later in the year, and not sure about next year, may give cruising a miss we would love to go back to Thailand so fingers crossed.

    Have fun Amo

    Mel

  14. Back to earth with a bump:cool:

It was a long way home yesterday..... We have done so much in the last three weeks and met some wonderful people along the way.

I really have mixed feelings about COsta at the moment, and may miss a cruise next year in favour of a land based holiday.

There were too many Brits aboard and also there was 1400 Germans some of who were the most aggressive people I have ever met, I will do a full review when I have had more sleep.

The serving staff onboard were the best we have ever had, it was the people who were in charge of them that was the problem.

Atlantica is now going the the Asia market for the next two years....and will have a three week refit in November.

Thanks again Ron for all your help and the day we had in Mumbai with our friends from Spain was amazing, and that was on your recommendation... And the stalk was the best.

    Mel:cool:

  16. Been to James Bond Island today WOW..... This really is the cruise of dreams, time is just flying.....

They have now run out of draught beer, I fear they may be a mutant onboard, there is over 1000 Germans onboard ......

Very few Italians Spanish or French.... Shhhhhh but at the tender today I did spot six bottles of Campari
