  1. Slightly off topic but I always book all of our cruises. When I check for cruises, my husband (who has about then less sailing days then me) always has better offers. Booked a cruise last week and his offer was $200 cheaper and offered $500 OBC while mine had $50.  Looking to book a girls cruise and checked prices under my friend's VIFP (she is new to cruising and still red) and she also had the $500 OBC. Its annoying to me to have to check everyone else's deals when booking.

We're sailing with you! We cruised the Venezia in late February and recently booked this one. Got an upgrade offer already and after mulling it over a few days, I accepted! Now that I know the layout of the ship and all my favorite spots, I can move to an aft balcony and be VERY happy!

I have to do a personal count, but after many, many cruises on many different lines, this is the first time I have EVER booked the same ship! Guess I'm a fan?😍

There are so many bad reviews on this ship- glad to see a good one. We all may have questions for you about the layout as we get closer 🙂

It helps if you Uber a block or two away from the port, and then walk a few blocks.  The area by the terminal gets super congested, so a lot of drivers don't like it.  The last time we Ubered to the Hilton right by the port, and just walked a few blocks.  Super easy walk.

We didn't have any problem getting an uber at the port. We had two cancel on us trying to get from the hotel to the port.

  4. We stayed at Farfield by Marriott 5800 Burton Station Rd. Room was nice and it was about 15-20 minutes from port. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Room was clean and there were three of us also.

Only concern was getting an uber to the port. Luckily someone was getting dropped off in a taxi and we were able to grab him. We had two ubers cancel on us before that. We had no problem getting an uber from the port back to the hotel to pick up our car.

Several years ago a local told us to walk on the opposite side of the street from where cars are parked at night. We never feel unsafe there either, but we've taken that advice to heart.

Our absolute favorite place to stay is Bourbon Orleans. They have some unique rooms and we love the attached Bourbon O bar. Twice we've lucked into staying in the Governor's Suite (now called DeLille Suite). The pictures on their website don't do it justice. The bathroom in that suite is bigger than most of our cruise ship cabins have been. 😂 The hotel is located on the corner of Bourbon & Orleans and we don't hang out on Bourbon at all. We usually walk along Royal Street instead of Bourbon to avoid all that mess.

I came to recommend the Bourbon Orleans as well. We've stayed there a few times and love it.

first time on this ship and will be our 15th carnival cruise. With that being said, we have never been to New York so looking for some insight of a decent Hotel. We are not that picky but we would like to be able to explore a little of NYC since we have not been before either. Thanks for any imput and can't wait until October!

Hi!  I live in NJ so can't help much with the hotel- but I see a lot of people book hotels in NJ. NYC hotels can be very expensive! That said, I've cruise out of NY a few times, and it really is a sight sailing out of the city. The best IMO!

  7. Looks like your questions have been answered. I just wanted to add that I went to Bimini twice last year. This is a port where I would skip an excursion. Once you get off the ship, if you walk down the end of the pier (or wait for the excursions to clear out and you can take the free trolly) there is a shopping area right there. There is a beach there but it wasn't clear to me if you could swim or sit on the beach for free. Also right there are taxis.  We took a taxi to town and it was $5 per person each way.  They dropped us off "in town" which was about a 15-2 minute ride. In town was a little shopping area, hole in the wall restaurants, and a beautiful free beach.  In the alternative, lots of people rent golf carts and drive the island themselves.

BImini is a beautiful island and the people are great. A lot of people don't care for it but I like it better then Nasssau/ Freeport.

Resurrecting this thread as we're sailing on the Magic soon.  Is the Cedar Grove parking lot (on Monticello Ave) still where they want everyone parking?  And then you have to shuttle over?

We sailed Magic in the fall last year. I didn't want to mess around with the busses (we had cruised earlier in the year and there were huge lines getting back to the lots) so we parked at Dominion Towers on Waterside Drive.  I pre-purchased it and its about a ten minute walk along the water. We'd park there again if cruising in Norfolk.

I did contact my PVP she said depends on the specific cruise. Sometimes they allow and sometimes they don’t.

I think that the person who received the $500 onboard credit was a “casino” offer. They usually are $500 OBC.  One of the cruises that I was looking for there was CHEERS offer basically the same price as buying separately. The same ship but different month CHEERS was only $450 more basically half price. Both cruise were 6 nights. You can see all your offers by checking the VIFP section or by putting in your VIFP number when browsing.

I checked my confirmation, and can't find the rate we were booked under. Maybe it was a casino rate, but we haven't spent a dime in the casino in about 8 years.
