I would recommend going to Beach Limerz. Beach Limerz is an old school Caribbean beach bar with great food, great staff, great beach with no drop off when entering the water, and it is only a ten minute taxi ride from the cruise port. Here is our youtube video from the last time we were there in 2019. You can email Gail at info@beachlimerz.com. She can arrange taxi transportation from and back to the cruise port.
Great video, @SonuvaBeach !! Heading there next week and even more excited after watching it. We love the beach there, Gail & staff and “vibe” of Beachlimerz.😎🍹

I read somewhere (it could've been here to be honest, and if so, my apologies for the question, is it true that the pastries and cakes at Cafe al Bacio are no charge????
Yes. Also saw( pretty sure it was here) that you can get it in a to go bag.
You know where I’ll be!!😊

My understanding is the taxi’s are the one’s available at the port. There is usually an area designated for taxi service. First come first serve, like at an airport. Thanks. So this sounds like you would be able to catch a cab and go to the beach🤞
Will add along with the others, saying how much I appreciate your info about this cruise. Sailing on Equinox soon and find your posts esp about ports, excursions, entertainment on board very helpful!!

Only Celebrity excursions allowed. Masked indoors and outdoors regardless of vaccination status. Friends went to the beach. They said charge to go was cheaper than if they had arranged to go themselves.
Thanks for the info! Even though it was not what I wanted to hear, hoping things change in a month🤞

@judattgreat positive summary of the cruise!! Glad it went well and hope you have a great cruise next week!!🛳

Today is Antiqua. Not a cloud in the sky. The Captain stopped by our table in Luminae last night to thank us for sailing. He’s very tall.
Thank you for all the helpful info you have been posting. Know you usually stay on ship when in port, but wondered if you have heard if you have to take Celebrity excursions in Antigua or can do gov’t approved tours/cabs?

We went to Costa Maya early Nov and had booked Maya Chan. When we met the representative she gave us a letter that since the recent rains the water was reddish from the tannins from the mangroves. We had the choice of going or not and receiving a full refund. We chose not to go and both our deposit and final payment were refunded the next day. Excellent customer service, we look forward to going there the next time we visit CM.

Ok. You made me look.
I think that this one is my favorite.
I kind of like the people selling the notepads on lanyards that they gave out at the Meet & Mingles!!:p:eek:

This is exactly what I was thinking. So it does happen. I just started sailing in the winter from NJ, and was thinking how I would get home if there was a bad snow storm, and roads were closed when we got home. I would gladly leave my car and stay on the ship for another sailing.
Did many people stay?
Don't think that many stayed. Unfortunately we couldn't, had to get home. Got home on the Academy bus. They drove on an unplowed I-95, really great service. From what I understand Royal just cancelled their contract with them. Thinking of going out of Bayonne next Jan, have to find other arrangements.

Feb 2013 we were on the Explorer and came home to a huge blizzard in the northeast. Could have stayed on the ship for almost nothing, since many people could not get to the ship.

Glad to read all of the positive (mostly)reviews as we're sailing on the Serenade next month!! Last time we sailed on SOTS was about 5 yrs ago out of San Juan and we loved it!! Sounds like the staff is very good, and even though we usually don't eat in the WJ will make a point to try it out.
-
Jane-Once again great review, great beach pictures!! I also like your use of the board listing each day's port or sea day,,

We used the laundry bag on our last Ex cruise. Was good but it took almost 3days to get the clean laundry back!! supposedly there was a fire in the laundry room.

Really enjoyed your report, then I noticed that you live in Branford, where we live too!!:). We are sailing on the Allure March 8th and can't wait!! Won't miss this lovely NE weather, 3rd or 4th(?)bad Monday in a row.:(

How much for the Nachi Cocom beach club? Is it through the cruise line?
We booked Nachi directly at their website for next month. It's was $55pp and they required a $22 deposit. Really looking forward to going!!:D
-
Jane-Another great review with great beach pictures!!:D Always love to see your girls pic when you get home. We are heading to Nachi Cocum in March so really loved seeing those pix. Can't wait to read your Panama Canal review. Time flies so fast it will be here before you know it!!

Last Nov in Curacao went to Mambo Beach. $20 taxi ride(4 people), $3.00 chair fee, $3.50 beach fee. Best $3.50 spent since there were no peddlers!!;). We did not snorkel, but many did as there was a reef off shore. Nice beach day!!:)

Never been before and wondering if it's worth getting off the ship? Is it a safe and clean port? Any places we should visit? We enjoy beaches and snorkeling! Is it a better port than Belize?
Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
While we rarely book ship excursions, we did book Maya Key through RC(only way you could book, not privately:(). Nice beach day with buffet lunch and very good snorkeling.

buffy - I will give a full trip report when I return and will be sure to include plenty of details of our days in port.
I generally post my report both on the forum boards but also on the ship review page. We'll be on Disney Magic.
jenjack - I've heard the Sandals resorts sometimes do day passes as well. Can't top Sandals.
Tagong-Are you going to the adults only or the other Jewel resort?? We're looking for something for March, but not sure doing a long drive from the port. Looking forward to your report when you return.
Have a great trip!!:D

Jane-Can't wait for the rest of your review!!:D. Love all your beach info!! We're doing a similar itinerary B2B on the Adventure in April 2016(yeah I know..) and had no plans for Grenada until now.
Plus always have a special fondness for the Jewel, since she was the first ship we cruised on.

You know Hurricane Gonzalo hit them recently, right? They were still cleaning up when we arrived in early November. The clean up is a big job.
Anyway, sorry you did not like it but we felt it was fine for $50 per person. The drinks are unlimited, which is not something you can say for other resorts and beach clubs in the Caribbean. The buffet lunch was very basic, yes - but it was certainly edible and we didn't complain.
There was one vendor near the beach access - a sweetheart who was selling her jewelry, to which I said no at first. When I decided I would go give her items a glance, she had gone! I guess she left around noon. :)
It was a nice, relaxing beach day, which is what we were looking for.
Karen- Would have written almost identical review, then I noticed we were on the ExOTS so must have been there the same day.!!:D Thought it was a relaxing beach day and would def go back again. Thought the lunch was good, liked eating outside and we got plenty of drinks. I was looking for the quiet vendor around noon to buy an ankle bracelet and she had gone!! Too funny!! They were also very prompt in emailing me back for reservation. I would be interested in seeing a better value for $50pp.

Thanks for the update Bluedevil(for some reason can't quote). Have been checking. Need to find flights for next April, missed the last batch by 4 days!!
-
Carol-Great live review!!:). Appreciate all your efforts in getting the pix, they're great. This will def help pass the time until next weeks repo cruise. Enjoy the rest of the week. See you Nov 1.
Sandcastle or Rainbow Beach?
in St. Croix
Posted
Do not have details about Sandcastle, but last week went to Rainbow beach &would not send my worst enemy there. Lousy beach, overpriced chairs at 2for $40. Wi-Fi that was unusable and despite paying for the chairs, could not use bathrooms. They had portopotties🤮
