  1. Do not have details about Sandcastle, but last week went to Rainbow beach &would not send my worst enemy there. Lousy beach, overpriced chairs at 2for $40.  Wi-Fi that was unusable and despite paying for the chairs, could not use bathrooms. They had portopotties🤮

I would recommend going to Beach Limerz.   Beach Limerz is an old school  Caribbean beach bar with great food, great staff, great beach with no drop off when entering the water, and it is only a ten minute taxi ride from the cruise port. Here is our youtube video  from the last time we were there in 2019.  You can email Gail at info@beachlimerz.com.  She can arrange taxi transportation from and back to the cruise port.

Great video, @SonuvaBeach !!  Heading there next week and even more excited after watching it.  We love the beach there, Gail & staff and “vibe” of Beachlimerz.😎🍹

I read somewhere (it could've been here to be honest, and if so, my apologies for the question, is it true that the pastries and cakes at Cafe al Bacio are no charge????

Yes. Also saw( pretty sure it was here) that you can get it in a to go bag.

    You know where I’ll be!!😊

My understanding is the taxi’s are the one’s available at the port.  There is usually an area designated for taxi service.  First come first serve, like at an airport.  Thanks.

So this sounds like you would be able to catch a cab and go to the beach🤞

Will add along with the others, saying how much I appreciate your info about this cruise.  Sailing on Equinox soon and find your posts esp about ports, excursions, entertainment on board very helpful!!

Today is Antiqua. Not a cloud in the sky. The Captain stopped by our table in Luminae last night to thank us for sailing. He’s very tall.

Thank you for all the helpful info you have been posting.  Know you usually stay on ship when in port, but wondered if you have heard if you have to take Celebrity excursions in Antigua or can do gov’t approved tours/cabs?

  7. We went to Costa Maya early Nov and had booked Maya Chan. When we met the representative she gave us a letter that since the recent rains the water was reddish from the tannins from the mangroves. We had the choice of going or not and receiving a full refund. We chose not to go and both our deposit and final payment were refunded the next day. Excellent customer service, we look forward to going there the next time we visit CM.

  8. This is exactly what I was thinking. So it does happen. I just started sailing in the winter from NJ, and was thinking how I would get home if there was a bad snow storm, and roads were closed when we got home. I would gladly leave my car and stay on the ship for another sailing.

    Did many people stay?

Don't think that many stayed. Unfortunately we couldn't, had to get home. Got home on the Academy bus. They drove on an unplowed I-95, really great service. From what I understand Royal just cancelled their contract with them. Thinking of going out of Bayonne next Jan, have to find other arrangements.

  9. Never been before and wondering if it's worth getting off the ship? Is it a safe and clean port? Any places we should visit? We enjoy beaches and snorkeling! Is it a better port than Belize?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

While we rarely book ship excursions, we did book Maya Key through RC(only way you could book, not privately:(). Nice beach day with buffet lunch and very good snorkeling.

  10. buffy - I will give a full trip report when I return and will be sure to include plenty of details of our days in port.

I generally post my report both on the forum boards but also on the ship review page. We'll be on Disney Magic.

jenjack - I've heard the Sandals resorts sometimes do day passes as well. Can't top Sandals.

Tagong-Are you going to the adults only or the other Jewel resort?? We're looking for something for March, but not sure doing a long drive from the port. Looking forward to your report when you return.

    Have a great trip!!:D

  11. You know Hurricane Gonzalo hit them recently, right? They were still cleaning up when we arrived in early November. The clean up is a big job.

Anyway, sorry you did not like it but we felt it was fine for $50 per person. The drinks are unlimited, which is not something you can say for other resorts and beach clubs in the Caribbean. The buffet lunch was very basic, yes - but it was certainly edible and we didn't complain.

There was one vendor near the beach access - a sweetheart who was selling her jewelry, to which I said no at first. When I decided I would go give her items a glance, she had gone! I guess she left around noon. :)

It was a nice, relaxing beach day, which is what we were looking for.

Karen- Would have written almost identical review, then I noticed we were on the ExOTS so must have been there the same day.!!:D Thought it was a relaxing beach day and would def go back again. Thought the lunch was good, liked eating outside and we got plenty of drinks. I was looking for the quiet vendor around noon to buy an ankle bracelet and she had gone!! Too funny!! They were also very prompt in emailing me back for reservation. I would be interested in seeing a better value for $50pp.
