  2. Looks like I get around....lol

I've had two friends visit San Juan this summer. Both were staying closer to the

beach in San Juan, until one got a good price in Old San Juan right at the Sheraton.

She was just got off the Valor yesterday. The Sheraton is cool since it's in walking

distance to a lot of shops and restaurants in Old San Juan. I'm just not sure I want

to stay on OSJ pre-cruise. We've been twice and have yet to go to a beach so I'm

thinking of staying on the other side of San Juan. We're looking at coming in Friday

the 17th. I wanted to come Thursday but that's my son's 25th birthday. When are

    you ladies flying in?

I emailed you. Maybe we can all chat as a group on Facebook if you want. They have this new messenger app now.

  3. Hey there, I see we both will finally be sailing with someone from this thread!! lol

I know of John Heald as I remember his blog pre-Facebook. I just didn't know that

those kinds of things were posted about before guest were even notified. I've liked

him on Facebook now that I know it's the fast track to information lol. My online

Carnival account has already reflected the changes, see photo.

We will be on the other side of the elevator and down the hall towards mid from you

ladies. We've also booked 'your time' dining. We've dined that way once before and it

was okay. I prefer early seating but since most of the ports we will be in sail away at

5 I thought it best to do the 'your time'. We will definitely meet up with you guys for

dinner, and maybe even some lunch so we can chow down on a Guy's burger!!!!

Drop me a line when you get a chance: det1969 AOL.

    gu2yzesu.jpg

Yes, although John's sense of humor is rather cruel at times; he does do his best to announce Carnival related things before they are released massively. Yay!! We'll finally meet people like us on a cruise. And I'll contact you soon.

  4. WHAT?!?!?

    I had no idea.

Does the cruise line usually notify those booked?

I haven't been online much since we got back from the Explorer of the Seas last week.

I know nothing about that ship so I guess I have some research to do.

I am in total shock right now.

I had no idea they did things like this.

Not that I mind being on a ship with better amenities, because of course I do.

    The change just surprised me.

In fact, I know what cabin I booked on the Valor so are we automatically placed in

the same cabin on the Liberty? We booked Lido mid, I hope that wasn't changed.

I booked this while we were on the Breeze, but I have to contact my agent and see if

    they had sent her anything.

You must start following the Brand Ambassador "John Heald" via Facebook. He makes all of these type of announcements and all current activities going on with the company. And if you request a new email guest confirmation of your cruise, you'll see that it now says Carnival Liberty db1225239e4b673bbd601eeddd8e5b3b.jpg See picture above!

But I'm pretty sure they put everyone in the same locations. Carnival is usually on top of things like that. But yesssss be happy! 2.0 upgrades woot woot! The Alchemy Bar will be my frequented spot. As well as Guy's Burger Joint and the Blue Cantina for breakfast burritos and lunch tacos. Woot woot!

  5. Awww darn, how have you been able to carry on since missing that Allure sailing lol.

Sorry your move didn't work out. We got in on that RCCL 50% off second guest

promo that was happening for the last few weeks. Most of my 28 guest, including

myself saved a few hundred dollars on next year's Oasis sailing. This was especially

good for us because we have to spend money on airfare to sail out of Fort Lauderdale.

As for the Valor it was so cheap that I don't even mind it not having the 2.0 upgrades.

I already have excursions in mind for the 5 ports and that will also make up for it.

I really feel that less time will be spent on this ship so I won't miss the 2.0 upgrades

    that much.

We actually started cruising in 2004, but it was 5 years later that we took the second

one and another 2 years for the third one. Although we now have 8 cruises under

our belts, we still won't be high ranking members since we jump from cruise line

to cruise line. We have no favorite and just sail on the ship and/or itineraries we like.

As you can now see the girlfriend is now ready to book since the Valor will be swapping with the Liberty lol. So we're looking to be on the Lido as well(Close to the food as well). Are you all forward, mid, or aft on the Lido? Right now there are no midship Lido cabins available, so we are looking to book Lido forward. Since we're most likely going to say hi or at least have dinner with you all, we wanted to see if we could be a little close. We're going to go ahead and book now, if anything we'll just switch cabins to be closer to you all.

Yeah I was pretty let down about the Allure of the Seas cancellation, but it just didn't work with the dates that we thought we would be moving. But regardless of that, we did sail earlier this year on some short sailings on the Ecstasy and Sunshine.

We're now deciding which ship we'll be sailing on for our birthdays in October. We currently reside in Tampa, FL by way of Fort Lauderdale, FL. So we have been looking at the Sunshine yet again(because that's a 2 hour drive from our house), the Freedom and the Paradise(only because it sails out of Tampa).

We have honestly been sticking to Carnival sailings because we love the "fun ship" vibe. Also not to forget that I actually worked for Carnival for some time in the past. We have been scared that other cruise lines may be a little too "stuck up" for our taste. But we definitely are looking to see what the RCCL cruise vibe is like.

My girlfriend really likes more of the updated ships and I'm all for the exploration at the different ports. So that's when our Libra scales just don't balance out together when it comes down to choosing a sailing. But we always come to a conclusion one way or another. LMBO!

Hopefully, we'll bump into you gals one day 😄😃

  7. Yeah, I'm not thrilled about sailing with no 2.0 upgrades but since we will spend

5 of 7 days in a different board I can deal with it. This will be our 10th cruise so

we are more excited about having 3 new ports to visit with this sailing. At times

it seems like we are running out places to see since we mainly sail from the east

    cost.

Today was my last day of work. I am officially on vacation. We are cruising next

week on our longest sailing to date, 9 days. This is the family and friends cruise

we give every year. We have 14 cruisers this year. The group cruise for next

summer is already booked too, that has 28 guest and we are doing the Oasis

of the Seas which is better than any 2.0 upgrade. If your up for it, you and your

other half should join this sailing it is going to be better than the Valor one as

far as the ship goes. We cruised the Oasis sister ship last August, Allure of the

    Seas. FABULOUS !!!

Ahhhh yes, we have heard nothing but awesome reviews about both of those ships. My gf Nakia actually researches everything about RCL ships, so I'm sure it'll only be a matter of time before we are rebooked again. We were actually booked for the Allure of the Seas this year, but winded up canceling the booking because of our upcoming scheduled move that has now ended up not even happening. Ugh! The agony and the pain that now fills my soul! Rofl.

We hope to add RCL and Norwegian to our "Previously Sailed" list soon. We actually just got into sailing in 2012(we're young) and have been racking them up every year since then. Can't wait to see what our sailing history looks like 5 years from now [emoji1]

I'm still interested in that April Valor itinerary though, she's just a tough cookie when comes to the older outdated ships. I'm more interested in the ports so soon we shall see!

  8. As a teacher I would never be able to vacation in October. That's why April, May

and August are when we vacation. My wife's a little more flexible with her dates

but that may change. She's leaving her current place of employment before the

year is out. Good luck with your move!

We're still looking to sail in April as well with you all. Trying to convince the babes to sail on a ship with no 2.0 upgrades. She was so irked by the Ecstasy sailing earlier this year to the point that she is scared to do it again lol. She's saying she may consider if we can eat at the steakhouse every night. [emoji52][emoji765][emoji765]I'll be ok as long as I can get the Cheers package. We shall see!

  9. So we abruptly decided that we will be sailing for our birthdays this year. We're moving into a new place in September and need a stress reliever. Our birthdays are 10/9 and 10/13, so it looks like we may be sailing on the Sunshine again this year.

    Anyone sailing on 10/12/2014?

  10. Hey again, I officially finally changed our Carnival Valor sailing date so that it doesn't conflict with my wife (Sharine) going back to school. The new date is:

    April 19, 2015.

I also upgraded from Upper deck on 6 to the lido deck on 9 so now we are close to the FOOD lol, oh and pools lol. I had to pay a $100 change of date fee, but since the April date was cheaper than the May date I only ended up paying $33.58 more! I still have my $100 OBC too. I am going to bed HAPPY!!

Let me know if you decide to join our sailing.

    All are welcomed!!

I'm definitely going to try my best to make it happen ASAP. I wanted to share with everyone a repositioning cruise with Carnival around the October-November 2015 timeframe. Some awesome ports are on the itinerary. We are looking at these as well. ImageUploadedByForums1406086376.425890.jpg.8866d57e2a1a1acfa051daff6c134eaf.jpg

Those ports are just too great to pass up! Couldn't keep the good info to myself :-)

  11. We are cruising early 2015 but are doing a 7 day. It's an older ship but we booked it more so because 3 of the 5 ports will be new to us (see photo below for itinerary). Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Kitts all new, St. Thomas we've done once and St. Maarten is on our Explorer or the Seas sailing in 3 weeks. We're booked for May but I'm changing it to April when we get back from our upcoming sailing. My wife is going back to school so May will interfere will her classes.

Ok, we've actually looked at this itinerary before and we also have never been to St. Kitts, Barbados, or St. Maarten. We've been to St.Thomas twice and to San Juan once. I remember we were torn because of the lack of 2.0 upgrades on this ship, but those ports are really awesome! I know I personally would be able to take the older ship, I'll just have to question her about sailing on an older ship to get better ports.

More than likely, we'll be sailing with you all lol. Yay! We have NEVER met another lesbian couple that loved to cruise, so this will definitely be fun. Most of the time they either don't have the funds to vacation or the relationship fails before we even head out to sea! Rofl! Eeeeek!

Which sail date in April are you looking into?

  12. I'm definitely not a sushi girl, but did you say CUPCAKES?!?! lol I do like dumplings so I may have to check it out. I am looking forward to the taco offerings and the steak house. Mostly though, I can't wait to try Guy's just to see if all the hype is real to my taste buds.

That is exactly how I felt years ago when we did RCCL's Majesty of the Seas. It was our first RCCL sailing and I swear I learned the ship in two days. That actually took away the fun. Last year I Allure of the Seas and NCL's Breakaway, now talk about a ship. The mega the better in my opinion. I never got bored on the Allure. I think once I sail the Breeze in three weeks I will never want anything other than 2.0.

I can't wait to try RCCL! We have to get our coins up a little for them because of all the awesome alternative dining offerings, but they are definitely on our "must sail" list lol. I dunno if anyone knows but the Carnival Sunshine has a cool little mini getaway on 4/17/14 for 2 days to Freeport, Bahamas. I can get anyone a family & friends discount of $99pp for an interior guarantee for 2 ppl. We're sailing yet again! Addiction at its finest!

  13. So we booked a quickie sailing literally 2 weeks before the sail date. Just got back this morning. The Carnival Ecstasy was very interesting for us being that we have sailed on the Breeze and the Liberty before. We would walk from the aft to the front of the ship not realizing that we had passed the mid-ship elevators due to how small the ship was lol.

Had an awesome time in Key West and Cozumel and we just made the best of it despite missing our 2.0 upgrades.

Still trying to make a decision for October or November of this year. All we do know is that whatever ship we choose via Carnival, it "must" have the 2.0 upgrades. That is all....

  14. Hey ladies - I've been following this thread for a while but haven't had much to add until now.

My wife and I are headed out on the Carnival Sunshine March 23rd & I can hardly stand the wait. This is my 5th cruise & her 6th all on Carnival. We've enjoyed the 2.0 upgrades before and can't wait to have a ship with a serenity deck!!! ;)

Yay! Please if you have any spare time when you come back, feel free to share your thoughts of this ship. We want to sail on her in October, but what to hear a review firsthand from someone before booking.

  15. We're actually looking at the Valor for April 2015 and I too am disappointed that it doesn't have the 2.0 upgrades. We've never experienced the 2.0 yet but we will be in less than 60 days as we are booked for May on the Breeze. The Valor itinerary for next April is great for us because it visits 5 port and 3 of them will he new for us!

Never experienced 2.0 upgrades?! I must say they will definitely spoil you. If you're into sushi, be sure to check out Bonsai Sushi. The green tea cupcake and the Wagyu Dumplings are delicious. Be sure to also check out Cucina del Capitano for lunch(which is free) and for dinner as well(which is not free). And I'm pretty sure you all have heard all of the wonderful things about Guy's Burger Joint :) Also, the Blue Iguana Cantina serves these awesome breakfast burritos and tacos for lunch.

Just talking about these things are making miss them. I don't know if I can sail on a ship without them! Oh the agony! :(

  16. I'm so excited! We finally made a decision on which sailing we're booking tonight! Carnival Sunshine 10/4/14 here we come! And the most awesome thing ever is that the Sunshine sails out of Orlando, FL and we live in Tampa, FL. Mini-Roadtrip! Eeeek! Let the birthday celebrations begin!

That's awsome glad you guys made your choice. I will be excited to hear what you all have to say about the ship when you get back. On another note my wife is origially from Tampa, small world!

Yes it surely is a small world. We just moved here in October and love it!

And we have yet again become indecisive on sailing on the Sunshine now because of all the bad reviews. It'll be our birthdays in October of this year and we want to make sure we pick the right ship. My girlfriend has been looking at the Valor 10/12/14 and the Splendor 11/01/14. The only thing that bothers me about these ships is that they do not have 2.0 upgrades. I love Guy's Burger Joint, Cucina del Capitano, and Bonsai Sushi and none of these will be on either of those ships. This really sucks :(

Hopefully, one of the members on this forum who will be sailing in April on the Sunshine can bring some good news to us.

  17. We are going on our 5th cruise this April on the Carnival Sunshine, can't wait! I've really been considering Celebrity after our April trip...anyone have any comparison? Was Celebrity fun, friendly, etc.?

    Serenity

Please do share your experience on the Sunshine, as we have been reading some reviews that have us a little on the edge.

  19. Hey there, My wife and I are booke on the Breeze again for 9/13/2014. We were considering the Liberty and Sunshine but she really loved the Breeze and we get to see our Mom in Miami the day before. Hope to see someone from this board!

We're trying to look at other ships other than the Breeze. Just sailed on her last year. We're really leaning towards the Valor out of San Juan on 11/04/14, it debarks in Miami. Also we're looking at the Sunshine on 10/25/14 as well. We'll be coming up with a decision very soon hopefully.

Weighing the pros and cons of each ship. No 2.0 upgrades on the Valor, but an awesome itinerary! Carnival doesn't even go to these ports. And on the other hand, 2.0 upgrades on the Sunshine and an ok itinerary. ::shrugs::

  20. We're not sailing on either of those dates but are on 12/06/14 on the Breeze. We sailed on the Valor before and we loved it. Indecisive is not one of my traits...LOL...if there is enough open to but on the credit card I make a quick decision and it's booked before you know it...and that's not always a good thing either...LOL. Good luck with making a decision :)

Yes, I can definitely understand how quick decisions are not the best lol. Hoping we can make a decision soon, especially since Carnival has a $50 per person deposit sale right now!

  21. Me and my gf are soooo undecisive! Help! We're looking at the Carnival Splendor 11/01/14, the Carnival Valor 10/12/14 and the Carnival Glory 10/11/14.

Maybe if a couple in this group is sailing on one of these dates, then it would make it easier for us to pick a date.

It sucks being a Libra. And we're both Libra's, so go figure! LOL!
