  1. We always do cash since everything is prepaid.

    7 day cruises - $300/person

    Less than 7 days - $150/person

    More than 7 days - $450/person

    That's from NCLs site.

We have never had any problems and t works for us personally. Whatever you do - don't use a debit card. I can recommend that as someone who cruises and works for a bank. I just don't like to use one of our credit cards unless we're desperate.

  2. Yes you can add a flight to your booking.

Trying to look online and I do not see where I can add it to my booking. I only saw it when we were booking the actual cruise, now when I am on the vacation summary page it shows me some phone numbers to call. I wanted to see if I could get a quote online like I did when I booked the actual cruise.

Also, is it true what I have read that you can just make payments on it like you can your cruise booking? Thanks for any answers. I have always just booked my own flight.

  3. I feel like lanyards are for lazy people. Why are people so against pulling a card out of their pocket when they want to make a purchase. Honestly it comes down to people feeling entitled, get a grip!

Ouch! Someone has it out for lanyards :p Maybe it's not about being lazy, maybe it's about not having pockets in a dress or leggings! My other option is to store it in my bra when I have no pockets, now that isn't trashy or anything

  4. I know this thread is old but some of the comments had me rolling! So funny! I just bought myself a blinged out lanyard that I proudly wore the whole cruise! It made everything so easy for me since I was either in a swimsuit or leggings with no pockets! I of course leave it when we're in port and just take my card but whatever. You can say I look like a noob or tourist but I don't care! I can tuck receipts and cash in it and have no worries where I left my card when I've had too many rebellious fishes! [emoji39]

  5. What GoPro model do you own? I have the Hero 4 Black and it does a great job of taking photos. GoPro's Quik software allows you to capture images from video, but there is also a photo setting with some very cool features (burst and various lens settings). The only downside is that I cannot view the photos as I take them. Some models do allow for this with use of the GoPro LCD BacPac mount.

I also have a waterproof Coolpix, and to be honest, I haven't used it since buying the GoPro. It really is very versatile.

We have the HERO Session and it does do an amazing job with photos - but it's mostly my hubby's toy. He likes to make videos for every vacation we go on (he is a video journalist by trade) so he basically hogs the GoPro on trips

I just want a little something for myself while he is using the GoPro

  6. I just wanted to mention that my upcoming cruise in May had a significant pricedrop recently (it was before final payment all though I had already paid my cruise off in full), and I was left with two choices by my PCC:

    1. Cancel and re-book the same cabin category and get a refund of the difference between what I originally paid and the current price. Original booking date would then be changed to the date of the change.

    OR

    2. I could purchase an upgrade to a higher category cabin, and just pay the difference between what I had already paid for my original cabin category and the current price on the category I wanted to upgrade to, and my original booking date would still be valid.

I ended up upgrading from an inside cabin to a balcony cabin and only had to pay $30 p.p for the upgrade, so I was very happy with that. Plus, because the original booking date was kept, I also get the extra Latitude point per night for booking more than 9 months before the cruise (booked long before Feb. 3, 2017). The price was the "deal" for me, I am very happy with the upgrade since I just had to pay a total of $60 for 2 persons. Then the extra Latitude points is just a "bonus" - all though I am far away from any Latitude Ambassador status...

Great deal! We don't have a PCC, but we should since it will end up being a bunch of us booking. So far only us and one other couple have. I do not want to cancel and re-book since I booked before the 3rd and want to keep that grandfathered in of the extra bonus point. But - I would not mind getting something like you did or OBC.

Since I just did my booking online, how do I get a PCC? Did your PCC call you and alert you to the price drop or did you call them?

Take good care of the Pearl for us. We sail on her the week after you. We're taking her from NOLA to Seattle via the Panama Canal. :D

We will! Very jealous of that sailing, sounds amazing!

  7. Following this thread as I'm looking to upgrade. I have an older Coolpix that's waterproof from 2012 probably and it does not have wifi. We own a GoPro but they really are not for stills. If anything we sometimes just do screen grabs from videos for pictures - they come out awesome! But really would like a small camera with wifi that I can get wet but easily transfer pics so I can leave my phone in the safe as much as possible:)

  8. You have to rebook before the 90 day deadline. I saved almost $400 on my Breakaway cruise this April by waiting for the 2nd price drop. The perks had changed so I chose pre-paid gratuities over SD which is also a money saver. It sounds like you are within the 90 days though so it may be too late this time anyway.

The sailing is next April 2018 so I'm actually more than 400 days out hah that's why I'm feeling silly for worrying about it now [emoji12]

  9. If the "perks" have changed then you will get the new "perks" if you cancel and re-book so take care. Personally I wouldn't bother for a 1% drop.

Thanks. I figured the 1% isn't worth it. Also, do you always have to rebook? Do you ever get offered just OBC for the difference or anything?

  10. Hello all -

I've never had a price drop on a cruise so excuse me for not knowing how to move on it! We're booked on the Pearl for 4/1/18 and I got an alert on my email from *************** that the price for the outside room dropped 1% so it's $10 less.

My question is, when do you make a move? Should I just keep watching it? I'm one of those people that hates to miss any savings! So crazy I know! I'm always paranoid that I'll miss out the price dropping.

Any advice or experience would be awesome :) TIA

  11. We we're on the same cruise and I agree with you. Thankfully we had UDP so it changed dinner up for us most nights. But, the 2 nights we did eat in the MDR it was 97% the same I'd say. Entertainment was very lacking. Just...OK. The ship is still in great shape and all the staff we encountered was fabulous though.

  12. Just one more little laundry hint: lightweight items can be dried quickly in a pinch by using the hair dryer. Works well on intimates. I also sometimes put the item in a drawer, semi-closE the drawer and inset the nozzle end of the hair dryer. (Dryer will auto shut off if it overheats-then just wait til it cools off to resume)

So smart with the dryer in the drawer! I loathe bringing home dirty undies and bras! Must give this a go next cruise. [emoji106]🏻

  13. We noticed the pool was drained on our last day of cruising last week. It was out last port day, the pool had been drained in the early AM and by the time we were getting off for Key West there were a few guys inside the pool working on it. When we got back, the pool had been covered and astro-turf type stuff was put over it. Not sure what the deal was, but didn't matter to us since we had no time to use it anymore :P

  14. We just got back from the Pearl on Friday and there were a few game shows. There was Deal or No Deal more than one day, The Not-So-Newlywed game show, and another that we did not go to so I do not remember the name. There was of course bingo (which I will skip on NCL from now on) and many trivia games.

  15. I, too, hate their coffee so always bring my own since I must drink decaf.

On the Gem, it was a small pot that I requested from Housekeeping since

it is not placed in the inside/outside cabins.

But on the Breakaway it was a single serve pot so I had to purchase

a box of filters for a 1-cup pot...and the pot was not good as it

leaked the grounds into the cup.

You were able to request a coffee maker for your stateroom? Was there any extra charge?

I was just on Pearl and was looking for the "good" coffee maker I have seen people mention in the Great Outdoors cafe, but alas, it seemed to be just like the regular coffee machines in the buffet.

I did get coffee one night at Cagney's and it was DIVINE. The best cup of regular coffee on the ship, the waiter who brought it to me said it was from their machine that does freshly grind the beans. The UDP was worth those 2 cups I had! :D

  16. First time on a NCL ship this Saturday. What is the problem with boarding; do they have enough people to handle everyone?

I think we just had a fluke problem and the Getaway and Pearl were not supposed to be boarding at the same time. It wasn't a NCL problem, rather Port of Miami. I have never had a problem with NCL before. I am guessing because Getaway is a much larger ship, it was in the dock where Pearl normally is so we ended up an afterthought in some tents and dinky gangway. You should be fine

  17. NCL tells me I may have to wait up to two hours to board; is that typical? RCCL gets you on in about 15 minutes typically

Ugh, just got off Pearl and had a awful time boarding. Over 2 1/2 hours waiting like a heard of cattle in a hot tent. Apparently not NCLs fault, POM was overbooked and Pearl was unable to be at her usual spot because of the Getaway. When we finally boarded we went in through one gangway on deck 4. Awful experience and hopefully never have to deal with it again. US customs or whomever dropped the ball that day.

I loved Pearl though, can't wait to see her after the dry dock and refurb. We are booking her again April 2018! The staff was AWESOME! Had one of the best bartenders. Dinner at Cagneys was superb and got one of the best cups of coffee there. Bowling was fun, I'll be sad to see that go.
