  1. It is a walk up a mountain on steps that aren't always even. So it isn't what I would call "easy" - but not difficult either. I'd call my activity level on a daily basis moderate (I power walk 2-4 miles most days) and made it without too much difficulty (I did stop to rest a few times). Again, we did it on a very warm day - It would be much easier on a moderate temp day.

If you are in reasonable shape (you certainly don't have to be a marathon runner!), you'll be just fine.

    Have fun!

  2. Did you visit the Correr Museo as well or just bought the tickets for the Doge's Palace there?

We pre-ordered the museum pass since we were there 5 days total. But, for a single day, I'd pop over to Correr to buy the tickets whether you want to see Correr or not. You don't need to go in when you buy the ticket (since it's a combo ticket). And make sure you look for the area to skip the line - you don't have to stand in it - but you'll have to walk around some people who may give you dirty looks because they didn't know the trick ;)

  3. You can get tickets at reduced price on http://www.veniceconnected.com

They have reduced rates for seniors as well. Take your internet printout to the head of the priority line. No need to take a tour. Rick Steeve's book gives you the info you need.

If you buy a vaporetto pass as well, you pick up your vaporetto pass at a venice connected desk at the airport, St. Mark's or P. Roma

You can also get your pass at a vaporetto ticket machine at most of the major stops

We did this and skipped the line. You could also just pop over to Correr and buy them there. If you don't want to mess with pre buying - that's what I would do. Do NOT wait in line at the Doge's Palace.

  4. We have booked with Ephesus Deluxe for this November. Ephesus, Terrace Houses and Temple of Artemis for $55/person. Payment at end of tour with no deposit. They had good reviews but I won't know how good they are until after November. Deniz has been very good about responding to my emails.

We just got back from our tour with Ephesus Deluxe for the same price and set up. We had a FANTASTIC day. Our tour time total pushed 8 hours for 4 of us - all for $210 can't beat that. Our tour guide's name was Ahu, and she was absolutely fantastic!! Can't say enough good things about her or the company, but especially our specific guide.

Our tour also included House of the Virgin Mary and lunch - so worth it!!! Both of those were highlights of the trip for us.
