You can not compare normal food in MDR to what is served at Captains table, also wine would not be covered by drink package . also service was great, small but great menu .
Agreed! It was much more formal and on a different level than the MDR.

We were lucky enough to do it in 2014 really great meal, great wine and conversation, was surprised but one gentleman at table was dressed without jacket or tie and this was a formal night,
Yeah there were a couple of people at our table that didn't wear any formal wear to the table.

I have a friend who does 3 or 4 cruises a year often invited to share the captains table. The selection process varies from ship to ship.
He recounted a story where he and his wife were having a coffee on the promenade when a young lady officer stopped to inquire about their cruise. They talked for awhile and she asked if they had every had dinner at the captains table. They admitted that they had done so fairly frequently. The officer explained that one of her duties was to locate passengers to join the captain. She was looking for well dressed passengers who communicated well and who would have proper manners.
He also mentioned that he suspected there might be an exchange of information on passengers to select (or not select) that was shared with other ships.
Personally, we would decline an invitation. We're just not into that sort of thing.
Nice! That kinda sounds like what happened to us. I apparently caught the eye of the officer and we chatted with him a bit in the windjammer where the captain was having breakfast. He then invited us over to meet the Captain. a few days later we got the invite hand delivered to our room.
It may not be your thing but my husband and I enjoyed it and I got to sit right next to the Captain! :D would LOVE to do it again! IT's a very elegant and fancy dinner. And the Captain and officers were very nice and had interesting conversations.

Cool! But we just hit diamond so we have a ways to go!

Yes they do occasionally have dinner by special invite with an officer or two and sometimes the captain. The invite rules are not too clear. Sometimes Diamond, Diamond+ or Pinnacle. Sometimes premium suite guests. Sometimes random passengers. When we have been invited it has been that combination of guests.
Good to know! When we were invited it was mainly from an officer of the ship.

Hi y'all!
Back in 2014 my husband and I were invited to have dinner with the Captain of the ship. IT was a wonderful experience and was the highlight of our cruise that year! I was just wondering, while packing for our next adventure, do they do that anymore? We haven't been going to the dining room much so we haven't seen the table set up at all since that one year. I thought someone would know here.
Thanks! :D

yes, and he can "borrow" your login once his 24 hrs runs out.
:d ;)

Not sure it this has been posted yet but it's new to me! Thought this was really cool to be able to use BEFORE getting on the ship!

I would think, just in case this is relevant, you can use your diamond perk to use a 2nd device for a day. That is all I have ever done.
I think that is what we are going to do. I have pre-ordered under my name so I guess my husband can use his iPad for 24 hours free?

Well Thank you Bob! :D

We will be on the 8-night sailing of FOS beginning this Saturday. However, we have a quick question. Not a deal breaker or major issue one way or another, but just curious.
A few weeks ago we booked the VOOM Surf & Stream package with a 30% discount. However, we have been hearing of an additional Diamond discount (1-day/24 hours?) that may be available onboard. Does any one have any first hand experience with having the Diamond discount applied to the prepurchased package? Is it allowed? My assumption is Guest Services should be able to take care of this once we are onboard?
Hi Sue!
I'm in the same boat as you and was wondering this as well. Looking at the date here I see that y'all have already cruised. What did you end up doing? I am looking for and can't seem to find is how much is the Voom plus streaming sold for on board?

Pizza in Sorrentos was not good. I had them bake it twice through but maybe 3 X might have been better?
Best GF pizza is at our local Costco!!! YUM!!
😳GF pizza at Costco? What brand? I would love it if our Costco had it!

I agree with the poster above. Make sure you tell them in the MDR you are gluten free and usually the head waiter comes and talks to you. I would be handed the next days dinner menu to order ahead of time so that they can prepare my meal special.
Also, I got to order GF pancakes or the GF french toast (my fave) for breakfast the next morning. Aaaaaand I would always order a GF pizza for lunch right there to enjoy in the windjammer on the next sea day. It has been a hit or miss. A couple of times is was amazing and one time not so much. But YES you can order your very own GF pizza how you want it but a message needs to be sent so they are aware and prepared for you. It's the head waiter that will notify them. IT does take some waiting but definitely worth it!
Also, you can ask for gf cookies in the promenade caffe.
Didn't know about the flourless cake but I will definitely be ordering that in about a week! ;-)
Royal is very good about taking care of my Gluten allergy and will go above and beyond so that I can enjoy my cruise.
No worries and enjoy your cruise!

Payment is taken immediately (or as fast as they can possibly get it) after you book.
LOL Bob! That is true!
@kimmy_bos, We have ordered the packages before and had to tell the server about our package then they would put on the sticker. It's never been on our sea pass at check in. :( Maybe it's because we were Gold? ha

Thank you!
So I guess there isn't a percentage off of the drink "packages". ok Well this helps Thanks again!

How long will this sale last? and is it only for past cruisers? I have not received an email notification, and I did not see anything on the RCI website.
Thanks.
Kathy
It's on the front page of their website. The sale lasts the whole month of May. I booked two cruises with that sale yesterday and got great rooms!

Hi all! We just got back from our cruise and noticed this time they did a one sheet print out of the old coupon booklet. I was happy about it being as the cruise before it was only "connected" on our sea pass and we didn't know what discounts we got.
Our upcoming cruise we will be Platinum members so I was wondering if anyone has a list of all the C&A discounts for their room. One member told me that there was one for the drink packages and was wondering how much the discount was.
We did the premium package and loved it. We would like to purchase it again for the next cruise.
Thanks for any info!

We are booked for Dec 2015 with their new Sale.
I will have to wait for your review.
Lol alrighty then. :) That's what we did too. Never seen that kind of sale before.

That is so funny that you said that! I just booked that room for our cruise in April 2015! There are lots of posts about that one room on this forum. It's a prime room from what Ive read. Would love to read your review when you're done with your cruise. When are ya going?

Hi there!
We just got back from our cruise on Navigator of the Seas and thats where they are now. Love visiting with Jana! She is very knowledgeable and the shops in the ports all know who she is!
I wonder if they have a Facebook page. hmm.
Dinner at the Captain's Table. Do they do that anymore?

That's sooo funny! When we had our picture taken there was a guest that stood up and did the bunny ears, or peace sign in the background! None of us noticed it till we got our printed picture and we were like, "who is that guy?" [emoji19]
