  1. If you could weigh in on your experiences on Carnival in AK I would be very appreciative.

I have reservations because I do not feel like I can compare the 2 Cruises I have been on. One AK Princes - One Carnival to Mexico -

Is Carnival to AK still as loud as it is on a southern cruise???

I loved the Star but.. it is a 3K difference and I am having a hard time deciding which one to book because 3K is a lot of money and I keep thinking of all the things we can do excursion wise with 3K...

Will be booking a Suite because there are 4 of us therefore the big price difference.

  2. First time taking our kids on a cruise - I want to put them on a budget have been having them do extra chores to earn spending money- can I set them each up their own account funded with the $ they earned for their budget? The online check-in does not appear to allow them to have their own account.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Good Morning -

My husband and I are going on our first cruise to Cozumel and I am looking at the Cozumel ATV Jungle Tour - Mayan Jungle by ATV - it includes 9 miles of trails, visiting a Cenote and caves for a duration of about 2 hours. Looking at booking via cozumel-tours.com

Having never been to Cozumel and not being big beach people we thought something like this would be fun. I have read lots of reviews where individuals don't book through the cruise line and everything works out fine, but I'm still a bit nervous about booking this. Has anyone booked with this vendor? How was the experience?

What about the fact that we have to make our own way to Hard Rock Cafe - is it hard to find your way around.

Sorry for so many questions - I am just a bit nervous about the whole thing - but the options offered through the cruise line aren't possible due to the fact that my husband exceeds the weight limit for those excursions. Not to mention this one is only 65.00 each which sounds decent to me.

    Thanks everyone!

  4. Ok - I know its WAY to early, but I have questions...

My oldest son will graduate High School in 2019 and wants a family Cruise to Alaska as his graduation gift from mom and dad. We are a family of 5, I have attempted to do mock booking with the 2017 schedule and there are no rooms for 5 only 4 so appears we will need two rooms.

My concern is I will have 3 boys aged 18,15, and 9 on this trip and need to plan and start saving now. Having done Alaska previously just my husband and myself I want to get a balcony cabin for us, how hard is it to book a balcony and inside close to each other? I can't find any now but hope by starting to save for this trip now we can make it work by the time we can book - or should I suck it up and just get connecting balconies?

Really looking for suggestions, I already have a good idea of what excursions we want to do and what they cost currently I'm figuring that cost will go up on everything between now and then.

  5. Hammond is a good hour away, but you do not want to hit New Orleans rush hour traffic on a Monday morning until after 9:00am.

The WWII museum is amazing, but it is very big. Do not miss the part with the planes. There is parking in nearby lots and then it is just a few miles to the port.

So how bad is New Orleans Traffic Hour? I ask because I grew up in Dallas, TX, Currently live in Central Missouri - first time I drove to St Louis I was warned about the "traffic" I never saw any - never dropped below 45-50 MPH. When I was commuting in Dallas it took 45-60 minutes to drive the 15-20 miles to work and never got out of 2nd gear in my manual transmission vehicle.

As to the planes at the WWI Museum - That's what will hold our interest the most I imagine - my husband and I love history.

    Thanks!!!

  6. I was really excited to read this as both of the cruises we have booked hit Cozumel! I went and looked at the new times on Carnival.com and was really disappointed. One of our cruises is listed as a Cozumel Plus cruise, however, the time we're spending there didn't change at all! The other is not listed as a plus cruise. Bummer! We do our own excursions, so it wouldn't help us to take advantage of the OBC offer either. I'm really interested to see if anyone else's port time changes with this new offer.

Ours in October is marked Plus also (Oct 24 Triumph out of NOLA) - time still the same 8A-5P.:(

  7. We were also thinking of staying in Hammond. What hotel did you use and how was it and the drive over?

I booked the Quality Inn Hammond - for Late October 2016 - the rate I have booked is 69.95 plus tax. We've never stayed before so this will be a 1st for us. Wish I could offer more information - according to google it's about an hour drive to the port.

  8. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS PICTURES! Great review, and thank you so much. I had to wait for a day off from work to come back, it was worth the wait.

We are going next September, on the last cruise, which skips Tracy Arm and goes to Glacier Bay. Since Carnival does that route so rarely, all I have been able to find out is that we pick up a ranger that morning in the bay, dont know if there is a special boat that goes closer to any Glacier.

DH wants to see bears, the BF is still in shock that he is going, and I am (as always) doing all the research.

I am glad that my suggestion worked out, you should be so proud of your photos.

I am selfishly going to borrow one of your pictures (the Chihully) as my background picture. Each one of us is getting to choose one thing that we want to do in Seattle=DH wants the Aviation Museum, BF wants the space needle, and I want to go to the Chihully Glass and Gardens.

Again, many thanks for the review.

Question - which aviation museum are you planning? There is the Boeing where they build the planes and then there is one south of Seattle that you can see all kinds of older planes. We went to the one on the south side in 2012 It was fabulous - but A word of caution - it can be an ALL day thing - It is huge and is actually on 2 sides of the road. We loved it.

  9. So My husband and I are planning to stay about an hour outside of New Orleans the night before our cruise. We are early risers and both up by 6. Thoughts are that we will be up get breakfast and drive in to see the WWII museum (well as much as possible) before parking at Fulton's and boarding at 2:30. May seem extreme to some but I booked a room in Hammond for under $70 for the night - not a really nice one, but it has good reviews on Trip Advisor, not to mention I booked through South West and get 750 points through them.

  10. I just booked a hotel for our December cruise out of New Orleans. $70 per night, plus taxes/fees, staying 2 nights. Hilton New Orleans Riverside!

Felt a little silly booking so far in advance, but I was afraid I'd I waited, I'd not get a good hotel at a fair price.

I'd say you did - I decided to check for our October cruise for rates - 200+ per night.

  11. For BJ they no longer have a $5 table. The minimum is $6 and is VERY hard to come by, as they usually only have 1 table and it is PACKED. They do offer "Fun 21" table for a $6 minimum, which is very similar to Spanish 21 (if you want to know the differences, let me know and I'll explain). They seemed to have several of them available on my Splendor cruise a few weeks ago.

    So yep whats Fun 21?

  12. I have no experience with Carnival but find out if you could bring some with you if you have a doctors note

Thanks- I heard back - no almond milk- but I did find the "shelf stable" almond milk in small 12 oz cartons on 2 websites- have to buy a case and it's not cheap but I think it will be worth it to know I have what I need.
