We were on the Allure in 2011 and had this room. It worked well for us, plenty of floor space and larger balcony. The kids slept in the bunk beds so we never had to open the couch. It is basically the size of a Grand Suite, maybe a little bigger. The bathroom was bigger as well. I just went through my pictures and found I only took three of the room, and none of the bunks or the bathroom. I have never attached pictures on CC, so if you can wait for me to figure out how to add multiple pictures I will post them here.

Thank you.My email is dramaqueenjan@yahoo.com maybe u can send direct?

When I posted this I did mean a disabled balcony but thought seem as it was in the disabled cruiser section people would know that. Obviously I needed to put that detail in, sorry.

I have actually now booked cabin 11158 on the Oasis of the Seas and hope it is as good as the reviews I have read.

If anybody has the experience of cruising in this cabin I would love some details or photos.

    Thanks

    Did you get any pics

My daughter is crew on EX, got this text from her this am...

Our dry dock was canceled as of last night. We will port in miami on the 15th - the 18th (in and out not over night) and for the remaining time we were supposed to be in france we will be floating around Freeport. Docking when it's free. Ship is hoping everything changes by may and we will sail to europe for cruises without enhancements

Has your daughter given any updates?? I called Royal and nothing official yet. I have a group booking in January and if the ship is not going to be amp we need to switch to another ship.

  5. I'm booked for January.  We  booked because we believed the ship would be amplified.  We will have 6 children total and definitely needed the day care center for a one year old. That was to be added. I'm wondering if they will waive the penalty and change fees to change our group booking to a different ship??

The Steakhouse is great and offers an appetizer that pairs steak tartar with bone marrow (delicious - it's what I ordered). 🙂

We were in 12042 - quiet hallway, easy access to every place on board, and very friendly steward (very long, difficult name to pronounce).  Don't forget to ask for your complimentary scrub kit at the Spa front desk. Complimentary for spa deck rooms.

We are in 12044 in Jan same itinerary..hows the privacy??

    Carnival Magic Review

This was our first time aboard the Carnival Magic – and it’s my new favorite! It didn’t feel crowded, even with a nearly sold-out sailing. Great itinerary. So much to love!

    Quick facts:

    • June 22 - June 30 (8-day cruise)
    • Half Moon Cay, Bahamas; Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos; Oranjested, Aruba; Willemstad, Curacao; 3 days at sea
    • Family of four - two adults, two teens (14 & 17)
    • Two cabin types
    • Active when in port
    • Foodies

There’s much to describe so instead of a long narrative, I’m just going to break it down by areas.

    Embarkation

Parking: Self-parking at Port Everglades is great. It’s $20 per day. It took my husband a little bit to figure out how to get to the entrance of the garage after he dropped us and the luggage off up front. Close to the entrance so it didn’t take him long to walk from the truck to the gate.

Porters: We had been given embarkation time of 1:30 – 2:00 pm. We arrived at 2:30 pm. The porters stopped taking luggage at 2 pm which meant we would have to carry all our luggage onboard – and who wants to do that?! We had our SCUBA gear with us (and I may have packed 2 bags too many 😊) so didn’t want to haul all that around.  I persisted with the port personnel and one older porter agreed to help. Just as we were getting ready to enter the terminal, a tour bus arrived – not sure why porters will just stand around and not help passengers because they’re done at 2 pm.

Documentation/Getting on the ship: All went smoothly! Digital checking-in makes it quick, too! Our keys were waiting in the mail holder at each stateroom.

Muster Drill: Loved that we didn’t have to stand outside in the muggy heat! We were assigned to the Showtime Theater. Actually, both 12042 and 11231 were assigned to the Showtime Theater, different levels. 😊

    Cabins

This year we decided that the kids (ages 14 and 17) would have their own room. We were able to get a balcony on Deck 12 (12042) and an interior room on Deck 11 (11231). The stairs are right by the rooms so easy access. My daughter and I were assigned to 11231 and my husband and son were assigned 12042. Well, those were the official assignments. My husband and I stayed in the balcony room (I requested an extra key for this room) and my son stayed with his sister and received an extra key to that room. Not a problem. Both rooms are considered Cloud 9 Spa rooms which means adults have full access to the Spa amenities, such as the Thalassotherapy pool, thermal suites, sauna, steam rooms, etc… You also get a complimentary Elemis scrub kit (one per Spa stateroom) and these rooms are given Elemis shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion. These products are wonderful!

Cabin 12042 (see photo) – Balcony room that was very comfortable. A new feature for us was the use of a key card to keep the lights on in the stateroom.  The light switch will not work without a key card (or any card) being inserted in a slot next to the front door. A good way to save energy. Balcony had two chairs and a small table. This is where we kept our snorkeling/dive gear. Bathroom is still cramped so I mostly used the showers in the spa instead (much better – large and terrific shower heads with strong water pressure). They also have several blow dryers in the spa bathrooms – great for getting ready. No electric plugs by the bedside so make sure to bring an extension cord or two. There is a small fridge and a safe box. There are three small drawers and three closets. Our room steward, Athikom, was very nice and kept things tidy.

    Decorations

o   Yes, we decorated our room and door. I used Command Strips and magnets, but did see many decorated stateroom doors that used tape.

o   Winner: Dry erase board – we kept a “Cone Count” – still talking about it. Bought it at the Dollar Tree. Used one Command Strip to hold on the door. (see photo)

Cabin 11231 – Typical interior room, except it included the Spa amenities mentioned earlier -- complimentary Elemis scrub kit (one per Spa stateroom) and Elemis shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion. These products are wonderful! Just down the hallway is access to the Spa and Serenity area elevator (single, blue glass elevator) – this is separate from the general elevators. Also includes a small fridge and a safe box.

    ·         Alicia was the steward and she was fantastic. Example: Just as our debarkation number was called my daughter realized she had left her card in the room (two hours earlier). I went over to talk to Alicia and she had it waiting for us. 😊

    More coming soon!

Thank you for the review we are on the same itinerary in January. We have cabin 12044 . So I believe that is the same cabin you had but the other side. I seen you had taken a picture of your husband pointing down at a shark. Where did you take that picture from? I am concerned about privacy. . Is the cabin in a good location and easy access two other areas?

I have stayed at Best Western Oceanside for the past 3 years for 1 night (2017), 3 nights (2018), 5 nights (2019) and again Feb 2020 for 4 nights pre cruise and 3 nights post cruise.

They have no shuttle from/to airport/Port Everglades/Miami, taxi is about $25-30 from airport, about $14 from port, Uber is cheaper.  They can arrange a shuttle.

Great hot breakfast, different hot item each day (ham or sausage or bacon or hash), scrambled eggs, make your own waffles, fruit, cereal, bread, bagels, muffins, yogurt, few cold cuts, coffee,/tea/juice.

A bar that sells food, washer/dryer $, rental bikes $, you can borrow beach chair, free computer/printer in the lobby, free WiFi within the hotel.

The hotel is 100 yards from the beach, at this end of the beach there are picnic tables, kids area.

The Sun Trolley will stop anywhere along the street just by waving them down, there is a cost each time each time you get back on or a daily rate or also senior rate, make sure to ask what time they stop for the night. The city bus #40 have stops in front of the hotel.  We use the  Sun Trolley/bus to go to the restaurant along the beach area (beach on one side, restaurants/bar on the other side on the street) and 17th St, can walk to the restaurants along the beach.  The hotel beside has a restaurant.

Water taxi is in walking distance.

    Staff is friendly.

They will hold your luggage until your is ready in a locked room.

Thank you! Which rooms do u recommend? I was looking at the rooms that are on the level of the sun Deck Over the pool?

Whats this have to do with Carnival?  Shouldn't this be in the Florida ports board?

I'm sorry they have changed the format since I was on Cruise Critic last and could not find the departure ports. However it is a carnival cruise I am going on so I believe it is Carnival related

Looking for reviews on either one or recommendations for something different. I want to be able to check in early and also be in a location where we can walk to restaurants or have activities ect..Breakfast is a plus.Tia

  11. For those that have rented the Oasis how was your experience? Is it worth the price? The Excursion Says 5 hours.. we are in Port for 8 hours but I know an hour is getting on and getting off. Do they make you leave after the five hours if you still have time in Port ? Thank you

  12. This is our first time in San Juan .We are planning on going to Old San Juan but then would like a nice Beach to just go hang out get wet and have some drinks. Can anyone recommend a nice Beach?.. also if anybody has any recommendations on places not-to-miss as far as shopping and restaurants that would be terrific as well.Thank you..

  13. This will be my first time sailing out of Florida. We are flying to Fort Lauderdale Landing late 2 nights pre cruise.. Should we stay the night in Fort Lauderdale and shuttle in the morning to Miami or stay in Miami? Looking for recommendations on hotels in both as we will also be staying one night post Cruise. Also looking for recommendation for shuttle service both ways thank you. I would like to be near the beach but I'm not into the real fancy high $$ if possible.Thank you.:D

  14. S t Greg ..I cannot thank you enough for all of your knowledge and advice. I have one more question LOL. We have a couple coming with us that aren't able to do the 2 night minimum at the Omni. Looking at the hot rates which hotel would be close to the Royal Omni? Nov 10. Are there hot rates for anything nearby or the Four Points by Sheraton or the Monteleone possibly? I'm not sure what is around there or which hot rates go to which hotel thank you so much

  15. Saint Greg.. we decided to fly out on Saturday evening because airfare rates on Sunday were so much more expensive it just wasn't worth it. Any ideas of what to do in New Orleans with all of our luggage until about 3:30 p.m. when we can go to the airport? Also if you will be in town maybe we could all meet up for a drink?
