  1.

I followed your recommended steps as far as I could...

These are ALL the steps for 1 stir fried pepper:

    *get dressed

    *drive to store

    *park the car

    *pick out the pepper

    *buy the #* pepper

But this is as far as I got before I nearly collapsed from exhaustion.

My cries for the Concierge and the Maitre D went unnoticed and unanswered even AFTER I started kicking and screaming and rolling on the floor of the supermarket. :(

I was finally rescued by kindly young medical professionals in lovely white long jackets. :)

It actually worked out QUITE nicely as those kindly young men assisted me into a wonderfully equipped, "high priority ground transportation vehicle" that whisked me at high speed (through traffic that had been stopped specifically for my passage!) to an AMAZING facility where I have received the HIGHEST quality of care, attention and service, equal to that of almost ANY cruise ship! :D

I have my OWN PRIVATE ROOM with a PERSONAL security guard 24/7!!!

As previous posters have mentioned their dismay at having to actually feed themselves, I have SEVERAL attendants who do that for me AT EVERY MEAL!!!

    ;)

I believe I just may have found the ultimate answer to the continually declining standards of many cruise lines and HIGHLY RECOMMEND this MOST WONDERFUL new experience!

*pay for it and bag it

    *drive back home

*take it out of the bag

    *get out the knife

    *and the pan

    *and the oil

    *and the wooden spoon

*wash and cut the #$! pepper

    *cook the %^$!pepper

    *eat the (&*! pepper

    you're not done yet!

*clean the pan, the spoon, the fork and the plate!

PS - we are leaving for a trip to Bermuda in an hour and I get to eat all the damn peppers I want this week!

Thank you again for your helpful hint!

  2. I was on this cruise too and had an amazing time. I agree with others that your complaints are a bit nit-picky.

I think you're being super super whiny.

    You asked.

I think you might benefit from adopting an attitude of gratitude for the incredible experiences you are able to enjoy. Fully one quarter of the 6 billion people on this planet are not even aware of, and can not even COMPREHEND, the luxurious lifestyle you have enjoyed on MULTIPLE occasions.

"...I was disappointed with the cruise and did not feel in the right frame of mind to comment at the time..."

    JEEZ

  3. A $400 OBC on a cruise that you paid $1,500pp-$2,000pp sounds OK but not that big a deal. :o

That same $400 OBC on a 15 night transatlantic cruise that only cost $599pp sounds a lot better. (just did that very thing, twice in the last 5 months) :D

Booking on board with "Passages" is one way, then transferring the booking to a Travel agent can get you more. :)

Shopping online for group rates hundreds less than those listed on the X website, saves a bunch. Then you get OBC or other goodies from the site, and you can use the shareholder benefit. ;)

It's all about what makes YOU feel happy.

  4. Dancing - is there really such a demand on the Eclipse? I have rarely seen dance floors packed with 300 passengers

I too like to go dancing but to be really honest it tends to be the same people who dance and there are not a great number. Don't get me wrong, I do think there should be dance areas but does it need to be such a large area?

It was noted that at the end of Perrys show passengers leave to go to bed. This would then be a great time for the dancers.

I have to admit that I have NOT been on Eclipse, but I thoroughly enjoyed Perry's perfomances in Michael's Club on Constellation. :) That venue was FULL almost every night and it did not take away any dance floor venue.

Yes, there IS, most definitely a demand for dancing, on other Celebrity ships like Infinity, Solstice, and Constellation. Been there, seen it! In both the Sky Lounge AND the main lobby ;)

At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, it's almost as if Celebrity is PURPOSEFULLY trying to DISCOURAGE IT ??!!??

The cruise directors/entertainment mangers can't possibly be THAT inept/oblivious... Can they??!!??

There are MULTIPLE venues on both S and M class ships that COULD keep almost all of the different age groups happy (as well as ordering more drinks later into the evening/morning!)

I always liked the area where we danced on M class ships in evenings before or after dinner. On S class, I would not like foyer and actually saw some of this on M class ships.

Guess daily dancing is waning. :(

If daily dancing is waining on Celebrity ships, it is NOT for lack of DEMAND by the guests, whether their ages are 25-35 or 55-75. :(

Quasar is the perfect venue for the smaller crowds of younger Celebrity guests but is being utilized so ineffectively it has been deleted on Reflection. The Rendevouz Lounge on M class ships is another space not being utilized effectively.

When there are special shows with the ship's dance troup in the Sky Lounge, the place is ABSOLUTELY PACKED and would remain so MUCH later in the evenings if the DJs would play music appropriate for the demographics.

Even in a venue like the main lobby that is NOT set up with a large dance floor, I have seen a couple of hundred guests of all ages dancing on three different levels of the ship!

  5. I looked at the promotion 123 go and we are very interested with 2014 March break cruise out of San Juan.

My question is: does Celebrity have a kid's club similar to Carnival, which my son enjoyed very much and, the suppers in the MDR, is it very formal? Do we need to bring the suit with tie or a clean white shirt with or without tie would do? Do I need to bring my mother-of-the-bride-style dress or a nice dress would do? I don't mind to dress-up but my husband...hiiii... doesn't like it as much, especially the tie and coat.

As previous posters have already commented, you will find Celebrity quite a bit more "formal" as well as "sedate" because it is an older, more upscale (in general) demographic. (even though S Class Penthouse Suites can't match the two mega suites on NCL ships)

I was almost talked out of a 8 night cruise on Carnival Splendor last year. (it's the same model/floor plan as Costa Concordia AND it had a fire on board the previous year which resulted in a tow back to San Diego) Glad I didn't listen!

It was the CLEANEST ship I have EVER been on. No where near the "low class, drunken booze fest/party boat" everyone tried to tell me it JUST HAD TO BE, because it was CARNIVAL. The dedicated Indian buffet area was AWESOME! But the MDR not as good as X.

I absolutely LOVED the freestyle dining, and the multiple, widely differing dining venues on NCL. The flat screen monitors in lounges/common areas showing any wait times at all the different dining options was PERFECT!

NCL's same-menu-but-two-different-ambiance MDRs is great, and they offer a MUCH wider range of entertainment options, and lounges than Celebrity. ;)

I've never had need of the kids facilities, but have taken a tour of them on Celebrity, and the vast majority of all reviews I have seen of them, have been positive.

After retiring from the military, I was NOT AT ALL interested in being TOLD how I was supposed to DRESS for dinner on MY vacation. You CAN stay casual by eating in the specialty restaurants on formal nights. But even *I* have found a couple of VERY comfortable jackets, a half dozen VERY comfortable "dress" shirts, and a mix of Jerry Garcia and Rush Limbaugh ties can REALLY make for interesting conversations. :p :D

Give Celebrity a try and then come back and tell US what YOU think! ENJOY! :)

  6. My Favorite Formal Evening Entree's

from the "fakin' it in the restaurant" scene.... ;)

"YAHHH, ....OH YAHHH... YES... YESS!... *Y*Y*E*S*S*S*S*!!!!"

    "I'll Have what SHE'S having!" :p

(The thread IS titled "food porn" right?)

  7. Maybe X should move CellarMasters into Michael's club - since it is almost empty every night and convert CellarMaster into a lounge with a piano...just a thought..........;)

Please, PLEASE, *P*L*E*A*S*E* submit your resume to Celebrity...

Your common sense, logic, and customer awareness skills are OBVIOUSLY severely lacking at their Corporate HQ and you would be of great benefit to the company!

(Could you get them to fix the music while you're there?!?)

  8. As far as Perry is concerned, if he has biting humor & engages his audience, I feel that is a combo that I feel compelled to explore. the option is quite simple really: Move on if he is not your "cup of tea". Sailormateforyou

Perry, Mostly he appeals to people to has sense of humor

AH *H*A* !!! Maybe THAT is the key factor!

Who would have POSSIBLY thought...

    a sense of humor...

  9. This is something that I've never done. This will be our second time on X and I am thinking that I would like to book my next cruise while on board. What are the perks in doing so????

It DOES GUARANTEE you a specific cabin, on a specific cruise, with upgrades and an OBC. If that is foremost in your list of priorities, go for it.

It also gets you the "privilege" of paying whatever (usually VERY high) price Celebrity puts on their cruises at "rollout."

Unless it is an EXTREMELY popular, low supply/high demand itinerary, that price will ALMOST CERTAINLY drop (quite often by a SIGNIFICANT amount (50% to 75%)) prior to sailing.

If pricing is a priority, (and you have flexibility in timing) shopping for cruises through online sites can net HUGE savings that most people refuse to believe possible. ;)

(Like $499pp for a 15 day transatlantic this past December and 599pp for one this April)

  10. I would have to pay $860pp more to get this "wonderful" deal. Most fabulous promos are marketing tools of some kind

Last weekend a 2B on Silhouette was listed at $719pp. A "weekend rate" not combinable with 1-2-3-Go.

The exact same cabin on the exact same cruise at the exact same time, which WAS combinable with 1-2-3-Go was.... wait for it....$1499pp! :(

I took took the INSIDE cabin at $599pp. for a 15 night TA? I "LIKE" it. and that IS combinable with 100 OBC from the online site as well as 250 OBC shareholder credit... I REALLY "LIKE" it. :)

  11. Just wonder, what is the max weight of allowed luggage, travelling from the US, Canada or Australia to Europe?

Travelling from Europe to US we are (almost always) allowed one piece of 23 kg each and one piece handluggage each. For a 14 day vacation that's more than enough (yes, we take a jacket, a tux, 3 cocktaildresses).

    So, I just wonder

It's 50 pounds in the US but 20 kilos (44 pounds) in Europe. Flying to the ship was not a problem, but flying back to the US, (from Barcelona) I was charged for the same bag.

  12. That 20 year Martini is worth the Premium Package price alone....

MARTINIS!!!! :D Absolutely LOVED the martini bar, the martini servers and the martinis themselves on both the Infinity last April, and Solstice this April. Has anyone else on other ships seen the "all at one time pour?" of anywhere from 6 to 18 drinks? What a great show and fun time!

  13. Deck - 3 Cabin # - 3156 Class – 12

Starboard Side Bed near- Interior Wall

Quiet Cabin VERY QUIET, NEVER ANY NOISE, LITTLE TRAFFIC

Balcony Size N/A Wind a problem? N/A Aft Cabin soot N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? Absolutely None!

Any other comments? As a late sleeper I only want an inside. This was PERFECT! 15 seconds to Passport bar/central lobby. Less than 2 minutes to theatre, martini bar and MDR. GREAT! Will book same/nearby location whenever on Solstice class:)

  14. Anybody have info on the who/what/when/why/how requirements for obtaining a visa for some med cruises but not others. It SEEMS that any stop in Turkey triggers a "visas are required" notice. However, after checking the US State Dept website, IT says visas are NOT required for cruise ship passengers visiting Turkey for less than 72 hours?
