IME, SS standards have been slipping since 2006.  I remember meeting a couple Brits in 2002 that told me standards had dropped so much that they will not return.   The new ships have breathed life into a line that we had lost interest in booking.  It's a fresh product, but hardly luxury.

If I cared at all about food, SS and SB would not make the cut.   A potential problem with Seabourn is that you have two interior bars.  A band of transient players on deck 5 reading lyrics and notes from computer screen and hopefully someone that knows how to play the piano in the observation bar.  Normally passable, but when it is not it can be too painful to tolerate.

So many good crew have found their way to the new options that compete for this market segment.

It's time for passengers to think beyond.

What pray tell are they new options of which you speak?

Well, on my last 2 SS cruises our butlers were just glorified room attendants.  They seemed so clueless and we even wondered if our last butler on the Moon was medicated he seemed so out of it.

This was absolutely not my experience on my SS cruises including my last cruise a few weeks ago. The butler was there to attend to specific requests and handled them well.

Seriously 1st world problem, I think from what they were saying every day the aim is to reduce their rubbish impact as they now have the metal water carriers in every room and no longer hand out thousands of plastic bottles, a very welcome move copied from river cruises that have done this for some time. Multiple small bottles of water are ridiculous items to carry and I can see them slowly getting rid. Given Perrier is no longer whet is was and has had so many problems why would you want to drink it? Water is water and as recent studies have show mineral waters can be less pure than tap!

BTW I didnt see them run out of anything on our recent cruise

Ridiculous. I deleted the rest as it was unseemly even if sincere and genuine.

  4. I’m on the Shadow now. Have been on the ship three weeks. I always ask for Pellegrino. No problem getting it. I had a full bottle of it on my table today at the pool as I asked the server to leave the bottle on my table at the pool. I also drink Coke Zero and no problem.

it only applies when you are in Saudi territorial waters.  I understand from prior posts that suites will be inspected for alcohol, but they do not open your safe.

We traveled to Saudi Arabia via Silversea in March 2023. Saudi Arabia has never allowed alcohol due to religious reasons except for a few international hotels. We also had to remove alcohol from our room and there was no alcohol onboard. This is not new. And yes they can inspect your safe and I have heard of them doing so in the past so the notion you can squirrel alcohol safely in your safe is VERY risky you should not do it. You risk being thrown out of the country. They don’t play around there.

If only that was the case!  It is now about 1:20 pm and it seems the Health Inspectors are still not aboard.  Myster canceled his excursion for today.   We just got an update from Moss Hill.  Apparently the Quarantine Officer for Samoa has not yet decided to allow representatives from the other inspection departments to come to the ship which is at anchor.

I said to the front desk that perhaps the authorities are waiting for their gratuity. 😂

Yes, all sorts of eggs to order, and also pancakes, waffles, maybe even French toast?

During lunch at LT you can also order a whole pizza. We almost always do that rather than eat the stuff that's been sitting at the buffet, unless it's fresh.

We sometimes order a pizza to be delivered at the pool lunch area for lunch! Here was yesterday’s lunch by the pool. My husband ordered this one with extra cheese and salami.

Update/Correction:  DW found that you can order omelettes etc in La Terrazza from your table. Our mistake based on other cruise lines where you order at the counter.

I actually was thinking about this and logged on to say you can order from your table. Glad you found out. I’m at La Terrazza now on the Shadow  in Somoa having breakfast outside and ordered an omelette and a bagel.

King Neptune held court on the pool deck early this afternoon.   It was the best "Crossing the Equator" event we've ever seen!  Moss Hill was awesome as the Emcee.  The dude in the role of King Neptune did an incredible job!  Well done lads and lasses!  We didn't take photos.   The pool deck was very crowded.
