The top tier event wasn't much to write home about on the serenade last week. We went to the safari club and got a few free cocktails (sparkling, margarita or rum punch).
It was on the second formal night so it was just half hr before our dinner at 8pm

Ahhhhhh. The sunset bar which is probably one of the nicest bar (besides the molecular bar) on that class of ship. The sunset bar at night is probably the most relaxing area of the ship and it is rarely crowded.
However it is outdoor and it will depend on weather and wind can be a factor.

Nothing like a pipe and good cup of coffee. I like the idea of a no staff Lounge, enter at your own risk !!!

You sound just like my wife, she started cruising long before I did so she had been most of the ports multiple times. She loves staying on the ship and enjoy all the amenities. One thing I never agree with her is hiring a personal trainer on a cruise,
I also would love Serenade info. Looking at going end of November for a "been there, done that" cruise (ie probably won't get off except in Coco) :D Especially interested in pool areas and public areas as we will be enjoying the ship herself. Thanks so much! -
Are you looking to book one of those family room at the front of ship?
Thanks Chicagocrooza! This may sound odd...if you can get any snapshots of the forward promenade area/helipad area. I think it is deck 5 or 6; just want to see how it wraps around and if the helipad is open for normal guest usage. I'm familiar with RCI in general but not the Radiance class ships. Have a great trip! -
I will take good pictures of all the compasses for you. I have two kids going with us but they are going to be nj the 3-6 program. But I can find out more on royal babies for you. In the past I did not use royal babies as my boy was two and he needed more action. But we did hire sitters at night in our cabin

We will be on the Serenade in next week, let me know if there's anything specific you want to find out, I will personally research into that for you. In addition, I will probably post a review when i get back, hope it will help.
Looking at a one-off 9 nighter in December 2015; ABC islands + Key West out of Fort Lauderdale. I've been to Aruba by ship and Key West by both ship and car, but not Bonaire or Curacao and I also really want to get on a Radiance class ship. Fort Lauderdale is my backyard. But what I can't seem to find are any photo reviews or photo tours of the Serenade post-revitalization. Is there any someone could point me to; search hasn't been too successful in turning up photos. Is Serenade most like any other Radiance class ship in particular to look at photo reviews of venues of?
Finally, because it's the least you can do for me (conversely, it is also the most you can do for me), would the peanut gallery please throw their 2 cents in about itinerary, ship, etc.

Boardwalk is more action packed and you will have a view of the ocean at the aft of the ship, Central Park is quiet, more elegant with lots of dining venue, you do not see the water but you see the sky above.

Oh yeah, it's nice to be keep that status on RCCL, I know how much you love the S class on Celebrity and so did we, but the Radiance Class is famous and loved for it's reason, so we want to try it out as well. I think a smaller ship will allow us to be more relaxed. :D
Thanks! Yes, we decided to branch out from X - I am probably one of the biggest fans of the s class ships but the US based itineraries are so boring! Our friend Deirdre convinced us to try both Azamara and RCCL - nice to keep our Elite benefits and have some variety too. -
Love your review and excellent photos, the best cure for a hangover is to sit at the back of the ship, open air and sip some coffee.
We are both a little hung-over from last nights activities but not badly so. We head to Windjammer again for breakfast and again sit outside to enjoy breakfast.

We are sailing on jewel next fall which I understand is a sister ship to Brilliance.
Library Lady, nice to see you here and am glad that you will be sailing on the Radiance Class, we are going to be on the Serenade in less than 2 weeks and a sister ship of the Jewel and Brilliance also.

I really do not want to use voice call. So how do I use data and texting and not getting phone call that eventually go to voice mail ??

Thanks for confirming. Just need to check on family and things. Slow speed is fine. Knowing that I can use it and won't break the bank and probably do it at the comfort of our balcony, it's nice!

So it is ok to let the phone ring? And you won't be charged ? Even if try charge, it's only 20 cents now with this plan, seems reasonable.

But with the simple choice plan, it's free now. Included and free data also so I will not have to look for wifi.

We will be leaving for our W. Caribbean cruise on the Serenade in a few weeks and am a little confused with the Tmobile Simple Choice plan, it states that you will get unlimited data and international texting while abroad the 120+ countries in the world. That includes Jamaica, Mexico, Grand Caymans, the ports that we are visiting.
Should I leave my data off and turn data roaming back on when we get to the ports? how do you use texting and data on their network but not getting any phone calls while in ports?
Any experience?
:D

Depending on where you are from, some cities have great restaurants and some cities are lacking in that respect, so your "foodie" standard could be significantly different from many others.
Personally specialty restaurants are not going to wow us, so we stick to the MDR, specialty restaurants are going to give you a better presentation, better service and perhaps a little better cut of the steak.

Would like to know what their price is on the cognacs offerings on the serenade of the sea, any cognac drinkers out there ?

Thanks for the live blog, kept me occupied the entire week, now we have more to look forward in less than 29 days
:D

With the cocktail table, I wonder how they set up breakfast on the balcony then ?
On the allure they had a regular height table.
