  1. Sorry to hog your posts but I just had to reply with a different view of our experience on the Q on the same cruise. We are experienced cruisers, both in our very early 60's with more than 78 cruisers across several different lines.

Our check in time was 10:45 to 11:15, we arrived around 10:15. The people with the ipads were great and I was quite excited how easy it was. Then it all went downhill. It took us over an hour to get on board and we finally boarded at 11:40. So much for the appointment.

We were on deck 13, hump cabin, the cabin was beautiful BUT extremely narrow. We had the couch at the balcony door and I was very disappointed. I like to lay in bed, watch the sunrise and stare out at the water. Because of the closet jutting out from the side of the bed my view of the water was totally blocked unless I slept at the foot of the bed. My outside balcony glass panel was so filthy we could not look out it and there was a hugh slash of paint across the left panel.

The meet and mingle get together, was in MY opinion a disaster. The music hall was too small to handle the large amount of people. We waited on line more than 20 minutes to even get in and then were forced to go upstairs. If you did not have a front seat you could not see anything on the lower level. Not a single officer showed at the meet and mingle, guess they showed all of us.

Dynamic dining was horrible. We ate around 6:30 every evening and I had prebooked all of my reservations. We did not do the Grande and did not do any pay restaurants. We had to wait every night on the same line that people who had no reservations went on. One night we went to Coastal Kitchen and were told they did not have a reservation for us, even though I had printed out my confirmation and it showed on the TV. We were told they could not seat us and that we should check back after 9 pm or go to Windjammer (which is another story for another post). I did not pay all this money to eat at a high school cafeteria.

The esplanade was a joke, perhaps about 50 seats for people to sit. I missed the promenade. When the ship people were busy hacking all of there watches and other assorted merchandise there was no room to move. No parades in the esplanade and defintitely too small for a ship that size.

You state you danced in the music hall every night. You were subjected to the music of the ships choice. There was no option for you to choose a venue with different music. So if you did not like what was going on in the music hall you had no other choices.

I spent a lot of time outdoors. It seemed they were always working on the North Star. Both the indoor and outdoor pool are unusable to people with mobility issues, bad knees bad arms. The ladders into both pools are so steep they are virtually unclimbable. RCCL how about some steps leading into the pools.

THE ICING ON THE CAKE. My husband, who is a cardiac patient, woke at 4 am with shortness of breath. I immediately called the emergency number and was told I had to wait for a nurse to call me back. After a 10 minute wait, the nurse called back and asked me if he was able to speak ????. She suggested I bring him down to the clinic where she would examine him, do an EKG and review it with the doctor who came in at 8 am. I should bring my husband, who was experiencing heavy shortness of breath down from 13 to 2 so she could examine him. Are you kidding me. No follow up call from anyone on the ship to check up on him. Nice to know that RCCL really 'cares' about the passengers.

I did not even touch on the food, or my opinion of dynamic dining. It is obvious that the crew is not happy. I can't say I blame them because I was not happy.

Believe it or not, this is just a brief summary, I have so much more to say. Glad some people were able to enjoy.

    Bring on the flaming

  2. Miss JD...my darling friend...welcome home. I have not forgotten my promise to see you when we return. Hopefully it will warm up some. Can you believe I have not so much taken out a pair of undies to begin packing...can't believe we're leaving this Saturday. I will miss you but I know in my heart that I won't be missing you for much longer.

To all of our Home Lines friends, you ladies did not know that I had planned on surprising Janet on board the Emerald this coming Saturday. Unfortunately, its not meant to be. But I say my thanks to God every day that Janet is on the mend and back to being her old self with some new twists :) Our sailing together into the sunset may be on a temporary hold, but its something to look forward to in the future.

    Catch you all soon....

  3. Hello ladies...Good news....our Cruisinsince75 is on the mend. She was discharged from hospital and resting comfortably. Not yet sure if she will be going on her cruise scheduled for January '10. Sure hope so, since my hubby and I booked this cruise and I had planned on surprising her. I used that little chip while she was in the hospital to convince her to stay until the doctors said it was okay to leave :). Must admit she was quite surprised, although I would have like to personally see that darling face. But if she can't make this cruise, there will definitely be others. Please keep up with the prayers, as a matter of fact, we should all pray for all of our friends every day. BTW, I do my praying at night.

Hope all is well with each and every one of you

    Catch you soon....

  4. Croozin Family...how true your words are. Every single one of us felt beautiful and like we were the most important person in the world when we were with our crews men. Even those of us who have since learned that our specal crew man was shared amony many :). I don't think there is a single one of us who regret the time spent or the lessons learned.

  5. To confirm what Cruizin said.. I don't remember anyone stating they were looking for a husband. These relationships were different from relationships we had at home. As far as them looking for a green card, maybe some were, but for the most part most of them

were hardwoking individuals often supporting families and extended families at home. It was not all a party for them. What I personally took from my relationship is a very good friend who I still communicate with even though both of us are married to others. I also learned to speak Italian fluently. I've traveled extensively to Europe, Egypt etc all aboard ships because to me there is no other way to go. I have friends in Europe, friends in South America, and friends that I know that I can count on no matter how far away they are (thanks Cruizin). So as far as looking for a husband, I'm thinking you just are not getting it, there is just so much more than you could possibly understand.

And Mark as far as your comment " they were not the doctors, lawyer, professors and financiers of Italian society" ... I see from your profile that you are single. I hope that you never meet someone who is interested in you simply because of letters (MD, PHD, esq) that you put after your name. Some of us actually have some letters after our own names :). There is nothing wrong with being blue collar and that comment of yours sort of shows exactly how shallow you are

Ta ta for now all of my wonderful, bright, exciting Home Lines girlies :)

  6. Suseaq glad to hear your Dad is doing better, unfortunately I think most of us understand what its like to have a sick parent. I'll keep him im my prayers.

Hi Cruizin, an overnight in Atlantic City sounds like a wonderful way to start this cruise. We'll have to check more extensively. Hopefully by then I'll have 2 new knees and be able to walk all over the place.

Glad to hear Deb is well, please send her my love. Is Deb still cruising, probably not as much as you LOL. Afraid to ask, how about Aunt Rosie, wow I can still see her face when I close my eyes.

BTW did you get your computer up and running....

    Catch you all soon....

  7. Cruizin....you always make me smile...been a while since you've posted on this. Your old cruizin friend would that be Miss Debbie and if so how the heck is she. I tried to connect with her on facebook but she probably rarely goes on. Is Deb going with you on the cruise in January. You know how jealous I am, especially since I so love Princess. I think one of the maitre d's might be from Home Lines, not sure though. As far as Vito, what can I say...do you really think he got much shorter, do you remember San Juan with the bird poop. Oh my God...how funny, oh JD I so miss those times. Guess this shows how old we really are getting. And me .... instigate ....lol

PS....it took me a while but I think I figured out your statement of sharing the same guys...not a problem lol

    Catch everyone later :)

  8. Hello all..did anyone know that the Costa Atlantica was in port this past week, I think Tuesday and Wednesday for an overnight. I did receive a surprise phone call, not from Michael, but a good friend from my Costa days. Cruizin, remember Vito, from the Carla, what a hoot n holler that was. Can't believe he kept my number all these years. Something else for our book...I think the crew men must have a box that they move from ship to ship with all of their "private" stash that they can't take home LOL. Vito, Michael and I had a little confrontation on one of my Costa cruises, OMG another story for a very funny memory.....

Hope everyone is enjoying this lovely rainy weather
