The fact is none of us have a say and are truly nitpicking about very small nuances between the ships. If everything was the same in this world it would a boring place. I’m looking forward to sailing on the Pursuit one day soon.

One of the tricks my father taught me was that if you can’t pack trousers that aren’t chinos or jeans, make sure that you do pack a lairy jacket, like a pseudo mess jacket or striped blazer. The fact is that you will look very dressed up if you wear such a jacket with a crisp white cotton shirt and dark chinos or something similar.
Even if you do wear plainer blazer, put a brightly coloured kerchief in the breast pocket and you will have everyone convinced that you are dressed a lot more formally than you are.
Right on!

On the Navigator right now. It seems people on Deck 8 aft cabins are the ones complaining of the vibration and noise from the theatre, show nights and when they rehearse. We are on Deck 8 midship and are happy.

I’m on a Regent cruise right now and have worn black jeans or Dockers, with a nice shirt to dinner almost every night. Did bring a blazer for the formal optional nights.

Pick a cruise with a stocked fridge in your room, it’s the only way to go.

In Santiago the Ritz Carlton was great, some nice restaurants within walking distance.

Azamara is fantastic, especially if you like a smaller ship.

Tipping for Guides who give talks at public sights or on bus or boat tours often hold out their hands for tips after they give their spiel. If I've already paid for the tour or admission to the sight, I don't tip extra (but if you want to tip, a euro or two is enough for a job well done). In general, if someone in the service industry does a super job for you, a tip of a couple of euros is appropriate...but not required.

We booked our own flight. Regent covered the Business Class from Toronto to Hong Kong. We toured Hong Kong and Cambodia on our own. Found our way to Singapore for the cruise.

Paying the deviation we have flown to a different country two weeks early, then stayed 3 days after our cruise.

Retired Jan 2015, we have cruised and/or toured 100 plus days ever year since, cause you never know when you won’t be able. We are off on our third Regent cruise in March.

I could not imagine spending my cruise time in the Caribbean only. It’s a big world out there with lots of places to cruise too.

From YYZ, Cathay Pacific to Singapore via Hong Kong. From Cape Town, Emirates to Toronto via Dubai. Great airlines no deviation paid.

My Mum immigrant on the Queen Mary in 1948. She still has her memory box full of menus and alike. The food has changed a lot since then.

Look, NCL could have handled communications better. But no business, none, wants to see this kind of disruption nor uses it to disenfranchise or disrespect their customers as a matter of intent. Do some customers get a bad experience? Yes, and NCL can improve there, but that's a different scenario.
Repeat after me.
1> Cruise lines do not make more money by skipping or reducing ports. They make significantly less by skipping some ports.
2> Cruise lines do not like lots of sea days as they are burning fuel and giving away alcohol on AIBPs - when in doubt they will choose the shortest route. This is also why TAs can be very expensive.
3> Cruise lines do not control the ports. They have a lot of INFLUENCE at some ports, but its the harbormaster that assigns berths based on tides, etc. And when disruption happens, the ports that stay open know the balance of power has shifted and use that to their advantage.
4> Sometimes c**p happens. And it stinks when it happens to you. But not all c**p is the product of malicious intent.
Perfect!

If driving in the winter, check the forecast and be able to leave a day early. I90 can be really bad, know from firsthand experience.
