  1. My husband and I are leaving on November 15th for Rome for the trans-Atlantic cruise to Miami. I have some concerns about the Covid testing for entering Italy.

We have purchased the Abbott BinaxNOW Covid-19 AG Card Home Test Kit.
Has anyone used this test personally to enter Italy?

If not, what test did you use to enter Italy?
  2. Thank you for the detailed reply. I think this looks like a great option. I checked and it looks like we could take a train or a bus if we can not find a private transfer to the ship.

We have spent a lot of time in Rome and I would love to go back but I am a bit paranoid about COVID-19.  I’m only going on the cruise because Oceania is requiring everyone to be vaccinated.  I am still going to be extra cautious.

  3. I do have a good travel agent.  That’s probably why I have never had any problems booking cruises in the past.

Part  of the reason I did not want this to be my husband’s free cruise was then I could have used my TA.  Since both cruises are free there would be no TA commission so I did not turn it over to my TA.

  4. In the 19 cruises I have taken with Oceania, I have never encountered any problems booking the cruise.  I wish I could say the same about my 20th free milestone cruise.

I started the reservation on June 3rd and they still don’t have it correct.  First, they are making my husband take his free cruise at the same time, although he is only at 18.  Not a big deal but it did cause some communication problems.

Then it took 3 weeks to get the air I wanted for my husband.  I booked my own air because I wanted business class and now they are still trying to charge me for my air.

The invoice has never been correct.  Currently they are charging me full price, including air I am not using, and show my husband as free.

Today  was the first day to make dinner reservations and they would not let me because I have not paid for my free cruise.

Has anyone else encountered problems booking their milestone cruises?

  5. Hoping someone can answer. I asked on my Roll Call for the 2/12-2/22 cruise but that forum seems to be dead.

We received our refund (25% of our missed days) on our Visa. The refund came in 2 payments on our statement. $1500 in one and over $300 in the other. Anyone know why the refund is separated like that? More curious than anything. ;)

Also, we are to receive a 25% off Future cruise certificate. Have not seen anything in the mail or by email. Does anyone have experience with getting these or how is it handled. Anyone from our cruise receive one yet?

We were also on the February 12th cruise (we were your neighbors on the left) and I have already used my future cruise credit on a June 14th cruise out of Lisbon. I called guest relations and they told me the value of my credit and instructed me to let my TA know I had a credit due. It was applied to my statement within an hour of letting my TA know I had a credit from my cruise.

I also wanted to thank you for posting the pictures of your room after it was "cleaned" on our February cruise. After I got off the ship I had wished I had pictures because I knew no one would be able to visualize how bad it was without really seeing it. I just wish I had a picture of the worker wearing a face mask, rubber boots, gloves, and a special outfit spraying the video poker machine next to my husband.

  6. I am planning to write up and post photos of our 2/12 - 2/20 (shortened) cruise later this afternoon. Can't decide if I should post here, on the 25% thread, or start a new thread. This thread has become a discussion of all things from blame to talking about many different cruises and what happened on those cruise versus the 2/12 cruise. Getting confusing.

Glad to hear you are posting pictures. I wish I would have taken some pictures of the dripping walls and staff spraying in the casino, where guest were sitting, in mask, protective clothing, and rubber gloves and boots.

I would like to see the pictures on a new thread.

  7. On our recent back to back (Riveria 2/2 - 2/22) we discovered a very probable means on cross infecting passengers and crew being carried on by Oceania. We informed the staff and immediately the situation was corrected. What we discovered was the staff was "requiring" passengers to hand over their cards upon entering or leaving the ship.

This situation could possibly cross infect everyone. This was brought to the attention of the Coneierge on the evening of Feb 13 and he agreed with me and said he would call security. We noticed immediately the next day when leaving for Grand Turk passengers had to scan their own cards.

Because of this failure on Oceanias part to provide protection to me as a passenger by exposing me to potential health hazards the compensation being offered is inadequate.

  8. Did your cruise return earlier than scheduled ??

Do not remember anyone saying they we back in Miami before the end of the cruise

No wonder the crew were exhausted on the latest cruise

Our first cruise (Feb. 2-12) returned on schedule and

our second cruise (Feb. 12-22) came back early.

I also agree with everyone that mentioned the crew was definitely overworked and exhausted.

  9. So far no one has commented on the cruise prior to the cruise that ended early due to the norovirus outbreak.

My family did a B2B on the Riveria starting February 2nd. The virus was alive and active on that cruise. By the seventh day it became obvious the crew had increased their cleaning procedures. As the cruise progressed we saw things disappear from our room and the dining room (ice buckets, room service menus, salt and pepper shakers, ect.). They were putting a cleaning solution all over the walls and on tables through out the ship and letting it air dry. Everything was either wet or sticky and smelled.

In my opinion, Oceania should have delayed our second cruise and throughly cleaned the ship. That is why I think Oceania owes the February 12th passengers more than 25%. Nothing on that sailing was at the 1st class level Oceania is known for.

  10. I wanted to let everyone that replied to my original post that I got the flight I wanted from Oceania with no additional charge.

Oceania offered the flight from Lisbon to Detroit for $275. I did extend the stay for 2 days in Lisbon so there was an additional charge of $175. I researched available flights and found one on AA from Lis to Phl to Dtw at a good time. I asked for that flight and got it for the price quoted.

I will definitely use Oceania air for all future one way Trips home from Europe.

  11. I've never seen that garage even close to full. You might be interested to learn that it was built for Royal Caribbean during the days when they utilized Terminal J, so it has a capacity far in excess of what Oceania needs it for.

Terminal J is also on the side of the Port opposite to where all of the mega mass market ships are berthed, so there isn't any overflow (look at the poor little R ship, all alone on the far side of this photo)

Thanks for the information. I was worried about going without a reservation.

  12. They are charging you $275 or you are getting a credit of $275?

Are you staying in Lisbon after the cruise ?

If you are only doing one way it could be an air credit for the outbound flights Eg: DTW to NYC

How are you getting to NYC for embarkation?

On your invoice what is next to the charge ?

You might want to clarify the amount with your TA or Oceania

something does not sound right.... but who knows

Also some TA's automatically ad insurance & transfers unless you tell them otherwise...just a thought

My husband got an air credit of $275 for the flight to New York. We are using FF miles for that part of the trip. I am on the cruise from Lisbon to London so I did not need air from Lisbon to Detroit so I got an air credit of $550. The difference is $275 so that is what I calculate my husband's air fare to be from Lisbon to Detroit.

I'm staying in Lisbon for 10 days and then taking the cruise from Lisbon to London and using 1/2 the air from that cruise to get home.

  13. We received the full credit for air which was $550, therefore half would be $275 for one way only. We are using miles to fly to Lima (we're on Lima to Lisbon), then continuing on from Lisbon to London. We received the full air credit of $1100, since we again used miles to fly home from London. The difference in air credit is hard to explain since it doesn't cost twice as much to make those flights.

Your $ amounts match mine. I am also on the Lisbon to London cruise and I got an air credit for $550 and a flight from London to Detroit for the remaining $550.

  14. They are charging you $275 or you are getting a credit of $275?

I just looked at my statement from Oceania. We book our own domestic air and I am not coming back after the cruise so I got an air allowance of $550. My husband only needed air for the return trip so he got an air allowance of $275 and it states he will have air from Lisbon to Detroit.

  15. Is this an upcharge for a specific airline or a non gateway airport ??

Where are you flying to ?

$275 is the price from Lisbon to Detroit. Hard to believe, but that was what I was quoted and it is the amount on my confirmation.

Since I have not made my final payment I have no idea what airline it is on or the time. That is why I am asking about other peoples' experience flying from Lisbon to US.

  16. On May 28th our cruise from New York ends in Lisbon. I would like to hear how other people get back to US from their transAtlantic cruises.

To book one way air from Europe cost more than a round trip ticket. Last year when we flew home from Nice I bought round trip tickets and just forfeited the flight back to Nice. That cost over $1600 per person.

To do a return only flight Oceania is charging us $275. This just sounds to good to be true. Does anyone know what airline Oceania offers? Has anyone experienced a flight home from Lisbon?
