  1. We've sailed the Grandeur OTS out of Balt many times. Dec, Jan and Feb. First and last sea day is a nogo outside, but get up early to get seat in covered pool area. These were 12 night cruises and second and next to last sea day were iffy, but enough days in warm weather overall. We have two Pride 14 nighters booked next year Nov & Jan. Again, enough days in warm weather makes it ok. We'd probably not do a 7 nighter, but if you manage to get a seat in the covered pool area, might not be too bad. Balcony? Not for us, too cold and windy.

  2. You can bring a rolled up air mattress, and use it if the room steward can't get you comfortable. Mine is made by Klymit Static V on Amazon. Others on CC have reported they like it...

We bring the double size Klymit with us along with a Cal King fitted sheet. Works great. We're on that December cruise also.

  3. We have 9392 booked for a B2B next May-June. I've read that there's no or little shade on the deck 9 aft end balconies but can't be seen from the deck 10 balconies above. Ours next door to it has some shade but can be seen from the deck 10 balconies above. If 9390 were the only aft available though, we'd choose it over the hump for the view and size. Even with the extra walking. You get a side and aft view from that balcony. We sailed aft on the Explorer and will grab any aft on any Freedom or Voyager class ships. There really isn't much of an obstructed view. Search out Voyager Class Pictures on the internet and you'll see.

There you go, someone posted a pic.

  4. They will know you are diamond unless the cruise is very shortly after you turn diamond. You'll know for sure when you print out your boarding pass. It will say Diamond on it. If not, call C&A and have them call to have your documents updated and re-issued. We did this a few years back. We turned diamond plus after final payment was made on a following cruise and C&A credited our CC for the difference in discounts. They reissued our docs showing us Diamond Plus too.

  5. WE were on the 5/13 sailing which was the first out of drydock. We were late getting onboard due to work on the gangway and we were over three hours late leaving due to propulsion problems. The most noticeable improvements I saw was a new LED big screen at the pool deck, new decking on deck nine and ten and a lot of new carpet in the public areas and a lot of new exterior paint. Our cabin was not updated any and was looking a little tired especially the bed and mattress . We had a balcony room # 7036.

Have to say this because we were on the sailing after you and the same old speckled screen was still there. After 8 sailings in the last three years, we know that screen.

  6. So there's nothing at the top of the computer in the browser? Just trying to explore it from every possible angle since the other way isn't bringing it up.

There's no way for anyone to send you a link because it's while they are logged into their amex account. The link would be password protected even if they could copy and paste a link.

  7. Carnival has something similar with their Early Saver rate, but it guarantees you get the lowest rate and the spread is no where near as it appears on RC. Looks like we won't be booking far out anymore on RC. We're jumping around now anyway. Have 3 booked on RC, 1 on X, 2 on NCL, and 2 booked on Carnival.

  8. We currently have 5 booked on RC, 1 Booked on NCL, and 1 booked on CCL. Just got off NCL a week ago and going on RC in two weeks. Sail X once or twice a year also.

We like RC (D+) for the C&A perks, same with X (Elite). NCL's not too generous (Platinum), but better food IMO. Just starting back with CCL (Gold) for a little more variety (good pizza).

  9. I would say that Royal does in a sense recognize B2B's or at least they have a specific/special procedure to handle any B2B's on the just completed sailing and the upcoming sailing.

It is my understanding that those who are onboard are taken as a group off and back on ship as a group unless they want to stay off till a later time.

I did not get the sense that OP was looking to take advantage of Royal and for sure it is 2 different bookings. I can only imagine the vast nature of potential 'exceptions to the rule' that Royal deals with. Not clear cut, but I also know that cruise lines make exceptions to the rule which is a double edge sword to both the company and the traveling public.

When you book a B2B the two reservations are linked, but they are two separate cruises. You do receive separate invoices but they will look like this. I took the amounts off.

    First cruise invoice:

    Total Charges Cruise 1

    Amount Paid Cruise 1

    Balance Due Cruise 1

    Second cruise invoice:

    Total Charges Cruise 2

    Amount Paid Cruise 2

    Balance Due Cruise 2

    Total Charges Cruise 2

    Total Charges Cruise 1

    Total Charges All Sailings
