My answer was "I'm a professional pryer".
I did work for the government, in a position that was sure to elicit all sorts of "highly charged" discussion, shall we say. I didn't want to start that, so I learned to side-step smoothly.
Agreed Ruth C. My job always leads to discussions that I’ve had a thousand times before and don’t want to have again while I’m on holiday. So a polite but vague response does the trick.

It’s really not tricky. For various reasons I often don’t feel comfortable telling people my job so I just say “I’m a civil servant” or “I work in an office”.
Tbh if I asked you what you do and you gave me all that info I’d just feel quite uncomfortable and wish I’d not asked! There’s really no need to share quite that much with virtual strangers.

We did a Christmas and NYE cruise to HI the other year and yes, the crew, even some officers were up in Skywalkers to celebrate the New Year at midnight UK time. They had the TVs on watching the countdown till Big Ben rung out. Of course, we were 11 hours behind the UK, so this all went down at 1PM local time, so we got a very early start on our celebrations. ;)
That is definitely one time where if the new AIB limit of 15 drinks in 24hrs was in effect, it would have been sorely tested! ;)
What AIB limit?!?!

If you have not been on the A380 before... the premium economy is a great value... we always do it on Air France.
We are flying Air France! Paris to Miami :-) I've flown the a380 once before, in economy with BA.

So excited! Just booked my dad and I on the 10 day Royal Southern Caribbean cruise on 30 December! We've never cruised on NYE before and can't wait!
Starting in style by flying premium economy on an A380 for our transatlantic flight too!!

Hi all!
I'm about to book a cruise on Crown Princess for the first time, standard balcony cabins. I'm not sure how much choice of cabin we will have but any advice welcome please re which deck or location is best! It looks as though we will be forward on deck 10, 11 or 12.
There are cabins on decks 14/15 but I'm guessing they may be quite noisy as they are slightly cheaper than decks 10/11/12?
Many thanks!
Zoe

I absolutely love Princess Live on the royal and Regal and spent most evenings there.
Any other comments about the Crown would be welcomed!

I have cruised on Regal and Royal and now considering a Caribbean cruise on Crown over new year. How does Crown compare to Regal and Royal? And any idea what we could expect on New Year's Eve please?
Many thanks!

Thanks prettygirl. One of the highlights of a cruise for me is dinner in the dining room. I enjoy the buffet for lunch but much prefer a formal dinner. Think I need to stop being so British and just speak to the head waiter on the first day!
I had my fingers burned on my last cruise when one night I asked for the salmon with a different sauce (I don't like lemon) and was met with a curt "no" from the waiter who told me it was the menu as it stood or nothing....kinda put me off requesting an entirely different meal!

Gonna get flamed, but am going to be a little contrarian. Vegetarians are "picky" diners who have made a decision (for various reasons) to follow a specific type of diet. There are at least 7 types of vegetarians (such as Vegan, Ovo Vegetarian, Lacto, etc) and all have different criteria to what they will or will not eat. There are also many other picky eaters (some for very important health reasons) such as gluten free, peanut free, etc etc. If a cruise line were to try and accommodate each type of preference, their menus would run to many pages.
We think that most cruise lines try very hard to accommodate special diets and preferences, but it is going to be impossible to please everyone on a general menu. One wonders what would happen if 2,000 passengers on the Oasis of the Seas....all asked for Special menus or items.
We do have a constructive suggestion for mass market cruise lines. Somebody should routinely run Vegetarian cruises. We should note that Hapag-Lloyd does offer a Vegan cruise in 2017, but we are talking about something more accessible and affordable to those who are Vegetarians or who might like to try that different type of diet.
Hank
Just out of curiosity, in what way was this intended to be helpful in relation to my query?

Hi all.
I'm a vegetarian although I do eat a limited amount of fish.
On previous princess cruises I have been disappointed by having only one veggie option on the MDR dinner menu and if I didn't like it then it was fish or nothing.
I now understand that if I speak to the Maitre D there may be more options available to me?
But I wonder how this works? Next cruise I'm CC anytime dining so won't have the same table or waiter every night.
Has anyone any experience of making special veggie requests please?
PS I'm your typical Brit and don't like to be "demanding" so find it very awkward to make special requests!!
Thank you

Hi, we did this tour with a drop off at Miami airport. It was a good way to pass the day. Your luggage goes on the bus and stays there all day. Las Olas bvd isn't particularly exciting, there are some nice cafes and a Cheesecake Factory. We really enjoyed the Carrie B boat trip, you see some amazing houses on the inter coastal, and we went right past Regal Princess in dock!
The only thing that didn't impress us was that before going to the airport we went back to the port to drop off passengers on a B2B and we got stuck in traffic which left us rushing to the airport. Also the tour guide left the bus at the port so if we had been late we had no help. I did complain to princess about this and they refunded the tour which was very generous so I guess it was unusual for that to happen.

Hi!
I am sailing on royal in June and am tempted by the $99 photo package currently being offered in the cruise personaliser. My friend and I are sharing a cabin and would split it between us.
I have however read of princess offering $49 packages on board - can anyone tell me please if this is right?
And does anyone know if you can ask for 2 copies of any prints if you buy the package? I know we would get the digital copies but they don't always print out as well at home.
I paid the $199 for the package on Regal last year so keen to get the best deal I can this time!
Many thanks!

Thank you for the info! My friend and I are CC on Royal in June but only because we got an amazing upgrade offer from Princess, no way could we have afforded it otherwise...We are really looking forward to CC dining as we always do anytime and do miss having the same waiting staff each night (especially as I'm a veggie so often have special requests). We are not fancypants cruisers or loaded with money, just enjoying a few perks courtesy of a random upgrade offer [emoji2].

I was on Regal last month and it was available in Horizon every morning. Also you can have it in omelettes.

Princess (New) Ships Aren't "Game Changers", Why?
in Princess Cruises
Posted
I absolutely love Princess Live and choose the Royal/Regal over other ships purely for that venue and the entertainment it offers. I often find the shows in the theatre and entertainment in the bars a little old-fashioned and stuffy and not my style at all and I much prefer Princess Live, as does my friend who often cruises with me. For me, it’s a very positive game-changer!
