  1. On April 17, after RC canceled our May 17 cruise,  I went online and applied for a refund.  Very surprised that on 4/26 our credit card was credited full amount of the cruise!  Only thing we are waiting on us for our drink package to be credited. That was on a different card & had received a email last week that was going to be credited— so far we haven’t gotten that yet

  2. You can also look into flights out of Fort Lauderdale.  It’s not that far—- for us flying from Michigan there were a lot more flights (direct) and was less $$. I know there are shuttles.  Also depending on airline you fly & time— you can do Luggage assist.  (I believe that’s what is called). For $25,a person, cruise line prints out your luggage tags (you put them on suitcase night before)— put them out your door— also your boarding passes are printed for you.  Your luggage is sent to airport & check for you.  You don’t see your luggage again until you have reached home airport.  I like it because once we got to airport we were able to go right thru security & wait on that side.   There are restrictions on airlines & times you are flying

  3. We will be on the Harmony, May 2020. Not sure what to do there.   Is there anything walking distance in port to do.  MAYBE a excursion— my husband and I are in middle 60’s.  We might consider going to a beach or something relaxing.

  4. I’m a little “confused” about the bartenders not getting much tips because of the $18 price.  How does the system know what I paid & someone else paying more for drink package.  It seems to me it would be on the drinks they prepared.  I don’t think RC systems/computers know how much each & every person paid.  With that being said, I fully agree to tipping extra—we add a tip to paper we sign OR I carry cash (normally at pool) to give to bartender

  5. My point is on drink pkg is that RC blames a “GLITCH” in system when something goes wrong. Not them owing up to the mistake.   AND this “glitch” went on for several hours even after they knew about it.  At one point they said they were going to honor the price, then no—/ now not sure.   Also, it was reported you would receive a refund/credit which takes 5 to 7 business days, but also during that same time (while waiting for your refund) you can purchase a drink pkg at the higher rate.  Now RC could have that extra $$ sitting there.

  6. RC blaming a "glitch" in the system--prevented the card being turn off after the $100 has been reached.  Just like the "glitch" they are now dealing with because yesterday the drink package (includes alcohol) was on sale yesterday for $18 per person.  Lots of people bought it----now RC is saying there was a "glitch" in the system.  So they are canceling anyone who bought drink package -and offering them a whopping 30% off shipboard price.  Which is what the July 4th sale is anyways.  Problem it was out on their website for 7 to 8 hours, even after they were aware of price.  People were calling in, and were told---Yep thats the right price.  Then RC said they were going to honor price, than they said no.  Right now last I heard they are "rethinking" what they are going to do.  But, again RC blames a "glitch" in system.  Well they better get a better system!!!!!   Good luck getting your "glitch" taken care off

  7. I agree they should honor the price and move on.  The problem is that it was out there for quite a long time.  Even after they were aware of the "glitch".  They could of shut it down much sooner, they continue  to let many more people sign up or call in to get the deal.  AND to be told---yes it was the right price. The 30% is what the July 4th sale was going to be anyways.   A glitch would of only lasted a much shorter time.   IF some IT person put it in wrong, isn't things looked over BEFORE going on the website?  I read somewhere they are "rethinking" what they are going to do.  I hope they think LONG and HARD.  And also think about ways to improve their website

  8. Last week we book a group cruise (for a wedding) on Harmony.  Paid the deposit—it’s been charge to our charge card.  I’ve been trying to get a copy of our invoice—-called Royal—- they referred me back to travel agent.  Travel agent finally was able to get Royal to send us a copy of original invoice today (said it wasn’t easy).  I look, and as of today deposit is NOT reflected on invoice.  Even though my credit card shows the $500 a few days ago.  😡.  TA will contact them again—-

  9. Years ago, on our honeymoon cruise (1983) back in the day you spent sea-days at the pool--sunbathing and maybe drinking. Guest were advice to wear plenty of sunscreen. Well, one young lady fell asleep on her lounger, had a towel covering her. Well, she wasn't laying on a towel--- the chairs back then were wide strips of vinyl going across chair. The sun actually reflected down on the teak deck, reflected back up undernearth her chair. She woke up several hours later with a stripe sunburn!!! Her face, arms, legs all red and white stripe!!! A very red (probably painful) burn

  10. I'm looking at a cruise that leave on Easter (April 16).

Has anyone gone this week? Is it like a holiday sailing .... loads of kids?

I would think yes, however, for all the cruises I'm looking at, that particular week has the best prices. I've looked at the roll calls and it seems that people are saying that air fares are very high for the 16th and the 15th.

Also, we would be booking an Aqua Class. Would being in AQ and eating in Blu shield us (somewhat) from the craziness? Our other option is April 2....which is still within Spring Break.

We are from metro Detroit---I work for the schools, and our spring break is the first week in April----like all of Michigan. We have taken a couple of cruises during Easter break, Aqua class--- even though there were kids on the cruise, we never really seem to notice them. Between eating in the BLU, and hanging out in the adult only pool area---never seem to notice the kids (also the kids seem well behave). We had a cruise scheduled this year for April 2, but because the airfare was so high ($1,800 for 2 out of Detroit) we canceled the cruise. IF we could go the following week (can't with work) airfare would of been less than $600 for 2 of us. You might want to research airfare for time you want to fly. Michigan has some manatory testing to take place during mid-April. So we will be looking in future at shorter cruises, maybe one that doesn't leave out of Florida. OR we will be retired in few years, look for when airfare is lot less

  11. Greetings---'just want to put info out there that our cabin 9209 (largest balcony on slant) is now available, for anyone that is on this cruise (or looking at it). Yes, we canceled our cruise--(I don't want (or looking for) any sympathy). Just want anyone interested to know that cabin is available. I also want to thank everyone who had some good ideas for looking at airfare else where. We are somewhat "picky" we will not fly Spirit, nor are we willing to arrive home late at night. Also we are less then 30 minutes from Detroit Metro. With that being said, we will do a land base vacation later this summer. Future cruises while I'm still employed by schools will either be shorter cruise or Saturday to Saturday. And in a couple of years we will be retired and can cruise when we don't have to deal with spring break airfare prices. Hope you all enjoy your cruise(s) I will be there in spirit. Thanks again!

  12. First I want to thank everyone for their airfare suggestions--- and I have look into a lot of them. Finding one that works for us is where we run into problems. Yes, there are some airfares less money, but arriving back into Detroit late at night (after 10/11 pm--arriving home after midnight) isn't good-- having to get up at 5 am for work. IF it was a Sat to Sat flight no problem. I think Southwest has a great price going there, home flight too late.

Also, we have look at Toledo, Flint, Lansing--- Windsor, Canada---(not sure dealing with Canadian customs-- once in airport then again coming across bridge to Detroit)

Problem is that this first week in April is now statewide spring break (used to be staggered)

We will continue to look, and probably cancel before final payment. We are also looking into a land base trip this summer--- or booking a Saturday to Saturday cruise in 2018.

I was hoping to let people know, if we cancel our cabin will be available (large balcony on hump). It just annoying that this week airlines can triple price (and get it). I guess when we retire in a few years, we can cruise when we want too--

  13. We book a cruise over a year ago on the Silhouette leaving April 2. Got a decent price, great cabin 9th deck, on the bump, drink package and $650 in OBC. I work for the schools and this is our spring break--statewide we all have the same week off. Airfares are crazy---for 2 people flying out of Detroit cost is $1,800!!! IF we could take the exact same me flight:mad: a week later cost is $775 for 2 people. I can NOT take the day off before or after break. - I have been looking at airfare since June, even then it was over a $1,200 for 2 of us. Very disappointed--- not at Celebrity-- but airlines

  14. We are supposed to cruise on April 2, 2017 Silhouette. I have been watching airfare for serveral months. We got a decent deal on our cruise, a balcony 9 th deck on the slant--supposed to be one of the biggest ones on slant---drink package AND a $650 OBC. BUT, airfare is $$$$--- leaving out of Detroit to FLL we can't find anything for under $1,500!!!! And this is for flights with stops and not best times (direct flights $1,800 and up) Since I work for the schools And MUST be to work on Monday-- flying home next day is not a option. ☹️️.

But if we decide to cancel, if someone is interested in this cabin (port side, on slant, middle of ship) let me know and will give u heads up. Very bumm book this over a year ago--- hope the airline fairy drops price

  15. Has anyone ever been upgraded from an inside guarantee to concierge class? Just happened to me - I'm still in shock. Celebrity is a great cruise line. ;)

Our first Celebrity cruise got a upgrade from a regular balcony to Aqua class. 😊. What happen was that I notice, after final payment,(hoping for a partial refund) our balcony went down in price. I called and was offered Upgraded room for xtra $200. We decline. A few days later I called back, wondering if they would at least give us a ship board credit. Told us no, but they would put us in Aqua class-- no extra charge. Took it and LOVE it. Well, they had as hook-- next cruise we book Aqua (price difference 2 1/2 years ago, was less than $400). Well, now we have a cruise scheduled for 2017--- this time AQUA class is too much extra ($1,200). However we did get a regular balcony on the slant. With this we have a drink pkg and a OBC of $650. So we will use this to pay for speciality restaurants. Will miss the BLU. But, we are happy with what we have--- and I hear we will have a great cabin and huge balcony.

I will keep watching to see if we can upgrade, buy don't want to give up my extras

  16. We are booked in an aqua class veranda but note the cost is well in excess of a normal veranda. Do those of you who have sailed in both classes in the S ships think it is worth it? We loved the Luminae on our last cruise where we snagged a suite at the last minute so wonder how The Blue will compare.

    Trish

Our previous cruises were Aqua class. We LOVE it. The first time we actually got bump up from a regular 8th deck balcony, to Aqua. Love it so much our next cruise we went right to Aqua. Back then the difference in price was less than $400 for the two of us. However, our next cruise (April 2017) the cost is over $1,100 more. We were able to book a 9th deck, on the slant, with the largest balcony. We are also getting $650 shipboard credit plus classic drink package. I will continue to look to see if Aqua class drops-- but with the extras we got, and room we will stay put.

Will truly miss the Blu and priority boarding. The garden is nice as wine in room too. But losing the plus's we have (large SBC, and drink pkg) isn't worth it.

We have seen like first time we cruise the Aqua price drop below what we paid

  17. We went on the MG April 17, 1983---honeymoon. First we were worried that we weren't going to make the cruise. The night of our wedding a huge snowstorm hit Michigan (no snow all season). But, because the storm hit all east coast, and our flight was all cruisers, the ship was held up. Yes I remember the "pee and shower" at same time. The great waiters, flaming bake Alaska. I also remember the lectures you got before getting off cruise ship in Jamica about boy buying any "ganja" (pot). Also, a funny story of a young lady who fell asleep on a deck chair, ended up with a stripe sunburn. The sun hit the teak and like a mirror reflected up. You could see her a long ways away. We went to Jamica, Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Had a great time

  18. We are also cruising on the Silo, April 2017--- starting to look at airfare. We were planning on coming in a day early, and flying out right after the cruise. Airfare is $$$$ and flight times coming home are not the best (prefer direct flights). I did find we could actually cut our airfare in 1/2 (saving close to a $1,000) IF we fly direct in on Friday, and leaving out on Monday morning. HOWEVER, since I work for the schools we aren't allowed to take the day before or day after a break. . I am going to write HR to ask to be allowed to use PB day (personal business). I'm not a teacher, so I'm not salary---Hopefully, I will be granted permission to use PB days.

  19. Hi there! While I am glad you had a great time on the cruise with the baby---I guess my only "issue" is that a baby (or any small child) is allowed to dine in the Blu. I have nothing against kids, raise two of my own. However, the last two cruises we book on Celebrity was Aqua class. We enjoyed eating in the Blu, because of no small children. In fact the first time we were told they didn't allow small children in Aqua class. I LOVE children, and I work with high school special ed kids. So the only time we can travel is when the ships are going to have more children on board. Also, we have met several other "school employees" thats when they they can travel---Spring break. We enjoy getting away from kid---eating in the Blu and relaxing in the adult pool area. I know when we are in other areas, yes there may be kids. That doesn't brother us. But when we pay the extra $$$ to be in Aqua Class I want to be kid free. Sorry!!!! And the adult pool area---NO KIDS should be allowed!!! We have booked a cruise for April 2017, this time it will be a regular balcony (Aqua class was $1,200 more) and plan on using our ship board credit to eat in some of the fine dining. When we have grand kids (expecting our first in Oct :-) When we want to take them on a cruise we will look into some of the more family/kid cruises. IE--Disney or even Royal Caribbean, Norwegian

Even on Celebrity I would make sure we would stay in family pool area, ate in MDR etc.
