  1. Just viewed the show again this morning.

I am in agreement with the results.

While Leanne was a bit of a 'johnny one note' in both color and design, I think that is commonly done by designers. She had a wide variety of types of clothing (shorts, pants, short dress, long dress). While they showed some concern about that, I think they considered the whole season of her designs and realized she could well produce different styles.

One thing I didn't hear anyone mention was the technique on her slacks. The buttoned up sections looked a bit 'gappy' to me -- they didn't lay flat like they should.

I wouldn't have had a problem with Korto winning; I think the judges had a hard time deciding between the two.

Kenley's hand painting was nice, but I agree with her 3rd place finish.

  2. ....Korto, on the other hand needs this win big time. She lives in Podunk, Nowhere, fashionwise. There are no companies she can work for in her home town, and she can't accept a job in NY or LA to follow her dream and uproot her family. She's got to somehow start her business in Arkansas and get national distrubution and she needs that $100,000. to make it happen.

    That's my $.02 on the $100,000. prize. :D

While understand your position, if all these Talent shows were based on the story behind the person, no one would ever win that was the most Talented -- just the one with the saddest story. This is a fashion competition and the decision should be based on the talent and designs alone, IMHO.

While Korto is good, I don't think she's the Best, technically (sewing) or as a designer.

I also don't agree that she can't uproot her family if provided an opportunity elsewhere in the Country. People do that every day.

Now we've got at least 4 cents here... perhaps a nickel or more, with other contributions!

  3. After giving up CI last week, I decided to watch Criminal Intent this week. After all, I reasoned, I can watch the re-run of PRunway later in the week or over the weekend, right?

Right..... so I stayed up to midnight and watched it last night. Couldn't wait!!!

I think I would have preferred a 4-way Runway, but agree Jerell's dress was over-worked. He needs to learn how to edit!

I can hardly wait for the finale!! and is that being dragged out over 2 weeks?! As long as it's over before my 11/2 cruise!

And then back to Top Chef!

  4. My take on it is that he is teasing you for posting in the middle of his review. I think it was just meant as a bit of good natured teasing and nothing more.

I also have enjoyed reading the reviews and comments and a big thank you to Curt Jerome Wild for your insights. There are many things that you pick up on that I missed completely untill you point it out. I'm acquiring a new way to look at clothes and fashion.

I do wish tho, that Project Runway would adjust their season so that the season runs earlier and only the TRUE finalists actually get to show at fashion week. I'm really disappointed that the final 6 all get to show collections. That's like giving everyone the gold medal regardless.

Thanks, VMom, for the explanation. Actually, in one of those time-warp online things, CJW's review wasn't up on my screen when I started my post. Also, since I was new to the thread, I wasn't familiar with his weekly review. And to CJW, I DO humbly apologize.... and just one more thing!

GET OVER IT!! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE-- KENLEY??!!

    ROTFLMAO!!

    No harm, no foul!

  5. ...here's the smilies for nlvc12 that I couldn't fit in that other post...

    :eek::rolleyes::p;):D

Just so that she knows I'm just "busting her chops" and giving her a jokingly hard time.

Call me stupid, but I didn't pick up anything in your Post that seemed directed at me or to which I should take offense! guess I'm not as sensitive as the Runway contestants!

    :-)

  6. Didn't know there was a thread here -- I love this show.

I agree with CruiseMom - at least at some point, they indicated the gowns were to be 'inspired' by Nature and/or the photo. The fabric Kenley used was ideal for that photo. As to what she did with it, it looked like a poor version of a mermaid costume.

Kenley as a contestant -- while she may be talented, she thinks more of her own talent than anyone else. And she obviously cannot get along with others very well. You can act that way AFTER you make to the top, but you'll never get and keep it with that attitude**. I think they should have sent her packing.

**I realize that Editing can paint a certain picture, but really, they can't show you saying something you didn't do! And all that eye-rolling and sarcasm!

I think Leann's dress was the nicest. She admitted before the show that she didn't have the time to properly add the blue fabric. She was trying to provide the color contrast in her photo.

I think Jerell has overall shown the most talent, with Leann a close second.

Korto has had some good creations, but hasn't been as consistent as the other two.

Boy, I was challenged last night - I usually watch Criminal Minds, had watched the Americas Got Talent competition, and, of course, Runway! Though I could have watched Runway another evening, I couldn't stand it. John watched CM in the other room while I switched back and forth between NBC and Bravo.

  7. My memories are kindof vague, but I remember we weren't particularly impressed. I think we just wandered off the boat, went to the beach that was in the immediate area, dipped our toes in. There were some local merchants selling handcrafted items, not too much. We didn't take any excursion or tour. The beach was pretty though very small.
