1. Thank you wassup4565. We were in the DR about 10 years ago and had no trouble. Someone on our roll call posted that a friend of theirs had guards on their excursion, and it made me nervous. Your post has reassured me that the DR is safe, but just like anyplace else use common sense.

 2. Has anyone encountered any problems while in the DR? I recently read that someone had armed guards on their excursion. We are booked on an ATV excursion and I'm considering cancelling it. I read on the US Dept. of State website about safety and security, and in all honesty it kind of scares me. I'm not sure if they just post the worst that can happen. (kinda like when you go to the dentist for a filling and they tell you that in "rare" cases having a cavity filled can cause death) or is it overall pretty safe. I don't want to be put in a situation where we can put ourselves in harms way. Am I just being paranoid?

 3. We did a cruise several years ago for my in-laws 50th anniversary. Aside from dinner every night as a family, (there were 24 of us) we took pictures together on formal night. My in-laws had the best time just watching everyone else enjoy themselves. I had all the family send me their snapshots so that I could create a photo book (Shutterfly) for my in-laws as a remembrance of the special family vacation.

 4. I too went back and forth. When I booked my cruise (two months ago) F2F was sold out. Three days ago they opened up a few spots and I decided I would book it. I like it just for the fact that we can get on board early and have access to our rooms to put our carry on items away. I figure it's only $50 and at least we can try it and decide from there if we want it for future cruises.

 5. We purchased FTTF for our cruise on the Breeze out of Miami in July. For those of you that have purchased FTTF what time were you able to get on the ship? I know it depends on when the ship is cleared by Customs, but just want to get somewhat of an idea from others. Our shuttle will pick us up in FLL at 11:00am and they say allow up to an hour and a half(to allow for traffic and picking up other passengers) to get to the pier. Should I ask for an earlier pick up time?

 6.
The search button is very useful here. You can take 12 sodas up to 20 oz), same with water and a 750ml bottle of wine per person. But it must be carried on. We use a small rolling suitcase just for this purpose so it is easier to roll it around before our cabin is ready. But really there are hundreds of posts on this subject. Some people even put a cabin tag on an unopened case and send it with their checked luggage, I have never tried this.
Thank you! just after I posted this I found my answer. Using a rolling suitcase is a good idea. I too wondered about putting a cabin tag on the water but would like to hear from others that may have done this.
 7. Can you pack in your suitcase, the allowable carry on amount of water and wine? Or do you have to hand carry it on through security? We did not purchase FTTF, which from what I understand would allow us to go straight to our cabin to drop off our carry on bags. I don't want to have to carry around extra weight while exploring the ship until our cabin is ready. TIA
 8. We are flying into FLL and will need transportation to the Port of Miami for our cruise. I have several questions: 1) Hotel recommendation in FLL for the night before the cruise? 2) Shuttle service for three passengers? 3) After the cruise we are spending another night in FLL and would like to find a hotel that would allow a late check out since our flight is early evening. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 9. When I booked our cruise, the agent asked if we wanted an upgrade if one becomes available. I said yes, but now I'm second guessing my decision to have an upgrade. Will Carnival call us first before just changing our cabin should an upgrade become available? We are booked in an aft view balcony, are there better cabins available? Thanks in Advance

 10. I will be traveling with my husband and 16 year old daughter on the Carnival Breeze in July. Besides tips, spa appointments, excursions, drinks, on board shopping and the specialty steakhouse, is there any other things to do/eat that are extra fees? I've heard about a movie theater that is extra.
