    Hi,

We are booked on the Miracle 17 day Panama canal leaving March 2, 2020.  It is now stating that it is leaving March 5!   This is really messing up my plans.  I have already purchased air for the original date, will Carnival refund the change fee?  I dont need to be in Miami for  week prior to cruise.

I’m also on this sailing.  I was told Carnival will reimburse up to $200 for airfare change fees as long as you submit proof of charges.  Thankfully we booked our flights through Carnival , so they are fixing the flights without any charge to us.

I am having to change our hotel reservations, as well as make sure Carnival reimburses us for the 3 day difference in the soda and WiFi packages we’ve purchased.

I am not happy with the changes, btw.  At least they are giving us $100 OBC per person.  I’m grateful for that since they didn’t have to do that for us.

Are you sure you weren't on HAL?

Lol. Yes.  This was the Journeys cruise from Galveston to the Panama Canal, which was 14 days.  Most Journeys cruises have VERY few kids under 18 and the average age is usually around 60ish.

They have so many Diamonds and Platinums that FTTF isn’t even offered.  I think on this cruise there were over 200 Diamonds and over 500 Platinums!

  3. On our last Journeys cruise in January we had a 6pm departure.  We had early dining and they held the sail away party during our dinner.  Mind you, the average age of this cruise was 68 and there were less than 25 kids onboard, so I’m not sure if the sail away was a priority for them. LOL

On our upcoming Miracle repositioning cruise in March 2020, I guess I’ll find out what they will do for that sail away party too.  We may miss another one!

  4. Thank you all for your advice. I have ordered the patches for his vest. I know Saxon is adorable but he is just in his 4th week of training. He already has to deal with all new things and it is frustrating when people interrupt our training. Yesterday I actually had someone try to tell him to sit! Roz, you are right, I honestly didn't think anyone would do that. LOL. This lady told me that service dogs should sit the instant I stop walking. I tried to explain that he cannot sit bc if I begin to fall, how can he brace against me if he is sitting? She then told me he wasn't a REAL service dog since everyone knows those dogs know when to sit.

Wow, good to know! LOL. Yes, he is a REAL service dog. Yes, he is still a "little" puppy. Ok, so he weighs 60lbs already. He is still little. LOL. I know Saxon isn't perfect and will still be nervous or scared at times. But that doesn't mean he isn't a real service dog!

Oh, one other thing, I'm so glad to know your dogs sigh and groan too. Saxon is very vocal, not barking, but he makes all kinds of noises. Glad he isn't alone! [emoji4]

  5. I am so frustrated right now. I am in training with my puppy Saxon. Yes, we are both training, as I'm sure you all know. LOL.

I don't know how many times I have had to ask people to either move out of our way (being polite, of course), and especially to not pet Saxon. I understand how cute he is. Trust me. His "I'm the cutest thing in the world" eyes gets me all the time. LOL. But I don't understand why people can't leave him alone. Parents are the worst! They encourage their kids to pet Saxon! He is a puppy and doesn't need any more distractions. He is already a "butterfly" dog at times. LOL

    Suggestions please? I'm guessing I can't smack them. [emoji6]

  6. Hi everyone! My name is Cindy and I have recently been blessed with a 4 month old Great Dane puppy that is being trained as my service dog. I have Lupus and got a scratch on my left leg back in 1998. The next morning the "scratch" covered most of my lower leg and was excruciatingly painful. That day my life changed forever. I had an extremely aggressive form of necrotizing fasciitis. I also got MRSA from the hospital during one of my 47 surgeries. To make matters worse, the strep infection was resistant to all but two antibiotics, both of which are known to destroy hearing.

I am beyond grateful to be alive. I survived toxic shock syndrome from the strep infection and still have reoccurring MRSA outbreaks at least once every 2 years. I also lost 90% of my hearing.

My new puppy gives me so much hope! I use forearm crutches to walk, and when my Lupus is in a bad flare, I need a wheelchair. Saxon will be trained as a mobility service dog as well as a hearing alert dog. So far his training is coming along beautifully and he is showing great promise. [emoji4]

My family (husband, myself, and our 3 daughters) are going on a cruise this coming January on the Breeze, but I'm not sure if Saxon will be ready by then. He should be ready when we go on our Journeys (Freedom) cruise on 1/19/19 though!

I am still trying to catch up on all the posts, but I just wanted to introduce myself and Saxon. I have wanted a service dog for several years and am so excited! We have many months of training but I'm looking forward to every session.

  7. We use gift cards. We just handed them over to the check in person when we set up our S&S cards before we got on the ship. She had them loaded to our account in less than 5 mins. When the cruise is over, you can let them either send you a check for the balance (ours came in less than 5 days) or you can cash out your account at the casino.

The advantage to gift cards is that I buy them at a discount or I get fuel points at Kroger. Filling up my car for $1 a gallon is sweet! LOL. I try to wait for the 4x fuel point sale.

  8. If you are really concerned, you can purchase flame retardant spray on Amazon and put it on your decorations. That being said, I don't know of anyone who was asked if their stuff was flame retardant.

    Have fun on your cruise!!!

  9. You can buy fire retardant spray on Amazon. I did this and sprayed all my decorations just in case they gave me a hard time. On the Magic not a single person asked if they were fire retardant.

As for why I decorate our cabin doors... it is not only fun, but it also helps our family find our doors quickly. We have an autistic daughter and she depends on our door decorations to find our cabins. [emoji4]

  10. Welcome back! I hope you had fun and am also looking forward to your review. :)

How did embarkation go? Did you have FTTF? What time did you get there and how long was the wait? Also, you mentioned the Dr. Seuss breakfast. What day was that offered and when did you sign up?

Thanks so much for offering to answer questions. We sail on November 29th and I can't wait!!!! [emoji1]

  11. I am so sorry to hear about this. Boy do I feel your pain! My DH found out a couple of months ago that he was laid off as well. He worked for the same company for over 15 years. We are scheduled to sail the week after you. After much debate, we have decided to go on the cruise. Everything is paid for, including tips, one excursion, parking, and nearly $800 in either OBC or gift cards from AARP.

We are taking our sodas, we prepaid for 2 packs of water already, we will be going to a "free" beach for our 2nd excursion. We will also limit the picture temptation. LOL

If your kids need a new bathing suit, find one now. Amazon has great prices right now. That works for you too! Also, we plan on going back on the ship for lunch while in port. Oh, and don't forget to block your kids S&S cards. [emoji4]

Good luck!!!! I hope you find a job soon! I hope my DH does too!

  12. If you are taking about the $40/day OBC sale, if you read carefully you will see it is only for new bookings. I looked at doing this but since my cruise is 74 days away, the PVP I spoke with said I'd have to incur all the penalties for canceling my cruise, and risk losing my cabin.

    Not worth it!!!!

  13. Singbluesilver1,

I'm a mom of an autistic daughter, and I completely understand where you are coming from! Buying the cards in smaller amounts is a viable way to pay off the cruise slowly, especially if you get something in addition like fuel points. Just be sure to keep track of the cards. I learned that lesson the hard way!

Our cruise is paid off, but we used AARP points to get a discount for our cards. Every penny saved is worth it. [emoji5]️ Kids with disabilities can take up a large part of your life, but they are worth it in the long run. [emoji41]

I hope you have an amazing time on your cruise!!!!

    - Cindy
