  1. I thought the food was good when we were on Allure with the exception of the buffet...that was pure and simply disgusting.

We haven’t eaten in the MDR in a few years now because the specialty restaurants were simply better. What sucks now is our last trip on the Allure is the first time we’ve walked away from the specialty restaurants thinking they were disappointing too.

The WJ on Allure is pure garbage. It’s hard to think you can walk around all of that food and not find a damn thing worth eating, but it sure happens.

  2. It's just something to do. For the price I don't think it's worth it.

We went to the one at PCC because it was an all day thing & we learned about culture but for just the food, it can be skipped. We didn't go, but there are places around HHV that serve the pig at a much better price.

I would avoid the one at HHV. It's held on top of a parking garage & you can't even see the ocean from there.

PCC or the HHV “Luau’s” are terrible. Go to OLL or Germaine’s and have a MUCH better experience.

  3. If these crabs are alive, do we see them get cooked? I don't really want to see something die. :loudcry:Maybe this should be my night to babysit the granddaughter.

No. They take it in the back and MURDER it so you can the feast on the flesh of its body afterwards.

    Butter is a must-have.

    Enjoy!

  4. The car museum is actually kind of cool. I was not excited about going it but it was really neat.

Plus there is a very easy hike around the lake right next door. I have some great pictures and memories from around that lake. Mosquitoes the size of freaking helicopters though, so be prepared.

  5. There is zero nightlife. This is NOT like any other cruise you’ve probably been on. It’s all about ports and the ship is an afterthought. Honestly it’s one of my least favorite ships. The design is just boring and there’s nothing catchy about it at all. It’s not a dump or anything, but it’s just....meh.

Think of it as a floating hotel more than anything else.

  6. I am not a picky eater, but my thoughts on all these specialty restaurants are...........the food that is being served at these "specialty restaurants" is the same food or just about the same food as in the Windjammer or the MDR - the food is just in a "different presentation" and people are willing to pay the extra money. Just my thought.

    Uhh...no.

  7. We've been to Kona several times and always try to make it to Mountain Thunder Coffee Plantation above Kona Town. It's about 15-20 minutes from the pier by car. They have a nice free farm tour and they sell a variety of freshly-roasted Kona Coffee.
