I will also be on that cruise.  There is a board called "Zaandam July 29, 2023" that has been started for the cruise next year.  Hope to see you there.

  2. Just got this reply from HAL Ship Services regarding ATK.

"We are now offering a new program called Port To Table. Please see the below description from our website of this new program.

Each voyage brings a guest chef on board to guide you through the culinary traditions of your destinations. Try local flavors at a food & wine tasting, add a new recipe to your repertoire at a live cooking demonstration or indulge your senses at a fine dining event.

For those looking to continue their epicurean immersion on shore, guest chefs lead select shore excursions*, exploring local cuisines while sharing their gastronomic expertise in the field.

*Shore excursions and fine dining events require an additional cost. "

Hope they have this in place by my March cruise on the Koningsdam.

  3. Does anyone know if ATK is still available on the Koningsdam?  We are sailing in March.  If still available is it just the free demos or the demos and hands-on-class that you pay to attend.  I have enjoyed the previous hands-on-classes (chocolate cake, pasta and eggs) that I have attended in the past.

  4. Does the Komningsdam offer Dinner in the Culinary center?  I can not find it listed on the web page under the dinner options.  I have seen articles about the dinner but not able to find any information on the site for my March 2020 cruise.   Also does the ATK offer the hands-on-workshops on some shore days?  I have enjoyed them in the past and know that you sign-up for them while on the ship.

  5. The Hands-on-workshops are not on the daily schedule.  Last June I went to the guest services to find which port days and times they were being held.  They offered 2 classes on a 14 day cruise.  I got into both the workshops and one was just me and the ATK chef which was great fun.  Yes 5 Star Mariners get this as a perk but they must reply to their invitation and if they do not it is open to any one that wishes to pay for the class.  You get the recipes and an apron that you wore during your class.  They had about 6 different classes that the ATK chef will choose to present.  They were egg, pasta, cake decorating, pies and a couple I can't think of currently.  When you finish with the hour long class, you get to sample the recipes that were made in and they serve coffee and tea.  On the ships I have taken the classes we were in the Culinary Center that doubles as an the B B King area.  We were not allowed to eat what we made but the recipe was prepared in the ships kitchen using the recipes due to health regulations.

Thanks for all your post. I went to look at the New Canaletto and the updated When and Where and they are not available. Hope it is just a quick fix for you as I am really enjoying the info. The Beverage post does work.

  7. Will look up this info while aboard and post for you! Don't know when you're sailing, but I hope this helps!

I found the posting of 7 day cruise with When and Where and menus but it was missing the last 2 full days. If you have the opportunity to also post them that would be great. We board in about a month.

    Thanks for your help

  8. There is a "Live from Volendam" thread over on the HAL board that has attachments with menus and activities from the 7 day sailing. The crew info will be different but everything else should be the same. We are sailing on NA in 8 days and found this live report very helpful. Will be doing one of our own as well, so keep your eyes peeled.

    Bon voyage!

Thanks I am interested the name of chef in American Test Kitchen and days that they offer the hands-on workshops offered for a fee. I took the chocolate cake decorating class on previous cuise.

  9. I will on the Zaandam next month and will be doing a comprehensive daily review here on CC as well as a photo review on my website. Currently, I am collecting questions seeking answers.

Have all rooms on level 3 been changed to shower only?

Are the hands on cooking classes offered in the America Test Kitchen?

Would love menus from main dining room. Husband does better if he can pre-plan before we leave for cruise.

List of daily activities would be nice for planning purpose. He likes to be educated about the area and loves the cooking sessions. Go drinking or casino in his plans.

  10. When on our Baltic Cruise in May, my husband went to the MDR the 2nd night in dress pants, dress shirt and a string tie. He was given a jacket (a little tight which made him look uncomfortable) to wear. No one was allowed to the MDR without a jacket. We then only ate on the Lido. Hopefully the Caribbean is more informal and his dress is accepted.

  11. Do you happen to have any of the On Location listing daily activities for your recent Southern Caribbean cruise? I am leaving out in February and would love to be able to see the activities in advance so I can do some planning around my quilting classes I am taking on board. I have been able to find the lunch, dinner and late night snack menus and that is helping greatly planning where to eat for those in the group with dietary issues.

Thanks for any help you can give.
