  1. Oops...non-Royal Caribbean tour of Havana. It was an approved tour through an approved company. We did not spend any money at any venue owned or profited by the Cuban Government. We were allowed to walk around after the tour ended. We did not do so.

  2. I get side effects from the patch....blurred vision and extremely dry throat. I have tried everything else with results ranging from "doesn't work to acting like a drunken sailoron Bonine!".

Many years ago the patches were taken off the market for a year or so due to the uneven delivery of the drug. My doctor wrote me a prescription for Scoalamine in compound form. Most national chain pharmacies have very few branches that do compounding. In our metropolitan area of almost a million people I think there's less than ten compounding pharmacies. Most of the time insurance doesn't pay for it but I got the amount needed for a 5 night cruise for about $65. When I returned to using the patches when they were brought back on the market I slowly started getting the side effects. I went back to the compounding RX!! It's dispensed as a gel in a syringe type thing. The syringe is marked with the doses. You use the plunger to put dosage on the inside of the wrist once a day then rub it in washing your hands immediately afterwards . What I like is you can control the amount absorbed. I usually start with a third of the dosage. Most of the time that works but sometimes I have to do half the regular dosage. Port days I don't put it on in the morning. I re-apply as soon as I return to the ship. This regime cause no side effects or if I do get them they are very mild. .

  3. I'm disappointed, and even, a bit aggravated with SW and the powers that be. SW was allowed to merge with AirTran and the price for flights from ORF (Norfolk VA) soared.

AirTran was in Newport News/Williamsburg airport which is just across the river and only about 15 minutes further than the Norfolk Airport. That competition kept both airlines' prices down. We can drive slightly over an hour to the Richmond airport that has JetBlue and SW and flights will be 15-25% cheaper due to that competition. Frustrating!

  4. Thanks, vjmatty!

I must say it's easier sitting in my kitchen clicking a link than camping out in the elements waiting for a phone or, back in my day, for concert tix pre-Ticketmaster! I took an hour long bus ride with some friends and then waited 4 hours to be the first ones to see A Hard Day's Night's Virginia premiere. Those days are over for this old girl!

  5. Here's some more beer questions...

If you pre-order the 4 packs of beer from Carnival's website...are they in your cabin on ice when you arrive?

I've heard mention of "beer buckets" on board at certain bars. How many beers in the bucket and how much to they cost? Which bars offer them? (we will be on the Fantasy)

  6. We are on the July 20 sailing. The reviews have been all over the place from the worst cruise EVER to the most PERFECT in the history of cruising! I use Olympic figure skating judging for reviews....throw out the worst and the best and average the reviews that are left!

If any of y'all are doing Anytime Dining and have a really good wait staff would you mind coming back here to mention their names. I'd love to ask right a way for a good team's section. Thanks in advance.

  7. We have booked the Wyndham Garden in Mt Pleasant. The hotel is new (about 8 months old). I investigated to the point of obsession all the Park and Cruise offers that were on the Charleston Visitor's Bureau website. The Wyndham Garden wasn't listed (I guess) since it's so new. The package is a bit more that some and a little cheaper than others. The link below lists what's included. What finalized it for me was it has a fully cooked breakfast (including freshly cooked omelets) and transfers to and from the port. Another perk is if you buy the FTTF deal from Carnival the shuttle leaves at 10:30 instead of the normal 11:3o. It may be affected by your date but our Sunday night July 19 price is $169 ($191 with taxes).

  8. Does the 24 hour tea/coffee station have a hot water tap and tea bags available?

I haven't been on a Carnival ship in over 25 years but the other lines I've been on ....the drink station had it.

My husband makes fun of me since I look like a mad professor. On my tray...insulated mug full of hot water, 4 cups of ice, 10 tea bags and 12-14 sugar packets!!
