Thanks Roy. That's my name, too!! She's got some big shoes to fill following Edgar.

I’m not Roy but I was on the Rotterdam a few weeks ago and Edgar told me he was asked to stay on. He was happy to agree to do so since it meant he was going to spend Christmas with his family.
If memory serves me, he was leaving the ship towards the end of November (around the 20th?)
I agree with you - he is wonderful.
Thanks for the news, Kazu!! He has a bit of a following over on Facebook, so I see his picture pop up occasionally.

Roy, can you please advise if Edgar is still the maitre d' in Club Orange AND if he will be aboard for the December 3rd sailing?? He was so kind to me last year when I was going through chemo treatments and had no appetite. Would love to see him again.
Thanks for the great review of your experiences on the Rotterdam. Enjoy your cruise!!

I recently found these complimentary luggage tags “featuring historical posters from the archives of Holland America Line” when I was cleaning out my parents’ home in Florida. I knew they cruised the Caribbean fairly often, but I didn’t know they’d been on HAL.
The tags were given out to Mariner Society members, and I imagine that many of you HAL veterans here may have them too. I was wondering if anyone knows when HAL gave them out — the 90s? Earlier, later?
It was fun to find them.
Still have mine!!

Agree. Loved it when HALs chefs were onstage with a culinary hostess. Very funny presentations! And great info for guests. They did this all the time in the past...easy to resurrect.
Anytime the crew is involved with demonstrations, etc., it's always good. Never miss one!! And we learn so much.

You can always ask at the terminal. Worse they can say is no.

In just a few very short weeks, I'll be on the Equinox. I am an elderly female going through chemo and as a result, have NO hair. I wear chemo caps and baseball caps so no one has to stare at my bald head. Without a hat, I'm damn scary looking, plus I freeze to death without something on my bald head. Would I be asked to remove my chemo cap??

I was on the Rotterdam two weeks ago and had a hole in my stateroom card. A fellow passenger asked me where I got the hole as their card did not have a punched hole. I was in Club Orange and they were not if that made a difference.
Yes, I was in Club Orange, too.

The Key cards now come with a small rectanguler hole at the top of the card. At least my card on the Rotterdam in Oct. did.
I was on the Rotterdam in December 2022. My key card was already punched.

Did you book through a TA or direct with Celebrity. I got a reminder for our mid-November cruise on Constellation a few days ago, but booked direct. Just did a lift and ship for Reflection as I am not comfortable laying out more money for a cruise that may or may not happen.
I booked directly with Celebrity, not a TA

I've got a final payment due on August 15th, for a mid-November 2020 Caribbean cruise. So far, the cruise has not been cancelled, yet I have not received ANY email reminder to pay the final, nor have any of the other members of my family who are traveling with us in other cabins. Could we have missed that Celebrity is extending the time frame for final payments??

Disembarkation for us was a bit of a fiasco but we survived!
Sorry to hear that. On our last Celebrity cruise, we were sailing with my brother and his wife, but he forgot to pay his final bill. It was a bit slower for him, but only delayed him about 10 minutes. My only complaint was that it was a long hike to the parking garage.

Super nice, super deluxe!! Disembarkation even nicer. Celebrity has it all figured out. The others could take a lesson!!

It's not just Princess. Also received one for my upcoming Holland America cruise, all under the Carnival umbrella.

Would love to learn more about your experiences, Colon Cruiser, with the Medallion program, especially when it comes to ordering drinks from the bar. I understand that feature is not working, but hoping that it had been fixed by now. Any good news?? I have enjoyed your photos and daily commentary. Much appreciated. I'll be on Crown very soon.

I am assuming there is an Elite Lounge in the Princess terminal at Port Everglades. Is this this same room (area) that the suite guests will use while awaiting embarkation??

If I find that I don't like the selections included in the complimentary mini-bar setup in my suite, who do I call once onboard to exchange it for something more to my liking??

We talked with the hostess at Luminae on the Edge and were told that Luminae on the Edge seated 176 so it took a full turn to accommodate the Suite guests, and that assumes they show up staggered enough to make it work. Peak times, after the 1st show, were a problem with more folks than they could accommodate. Time will tell if this works, but if you must buy access for a full cruise seems space available might be space available for those in CS and SS suites.
We were on the Edge about a year ago. We were staying in a Celebrity Suite and found the Luminae very crowded at whatever hour we went, anywhere from 6pm till 8:30pm. We ALWAYS had to wait time for a table, usually with a line growing larger behind us. When we were finally seated, we were extremely close to the next table, thus found it very uncomfortable. We thought this was the norm, till we went on the Equinox a couple of times shortly thereafter. WOW, what a world of difference in how they treated Suite passengers. Equinox's Luminae was NEVER overly crowded, the staff always knew our names, and the dining experience was totally awesome. Can't say the same for the Edge. NO, I'm not in favor of this new policy. Unfortunately, we're finding more and more cruise lines doing the same.

Thanks everybody!! My sailing is in about 3 weeks, so I'll look for the email telling me to expect delivery. It should be coming any day now. Thanks again!! Really helpful.
-
For those who have preordered their OceanMedallions to be sent via mail, and maybe a couple of accessories, how many weeks did it take before you received them?? I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago, and haven't received them yet. I'm starting to get a little worried.

Great news!!!

Any chance that I can swap some of my Diet Coke for Coke Zero???

Keep you hands away from your mouth, nose, and eyes, keep a positive attitude, and you should be fine. Good 'ol hot water and soap is the best medicine right before you eat, and don't forget to sing slowly the Happy Birthday song twice while you do it. I'm a bit of a germaphobe, myself, but there's only so much you can do. Enjoy that cruise!!
