  1. There are four of us on Celebrity Infinity in March, 2015. My question is about one of our stops, Puerto Madryn, Argentina. We are looking for a tour perhaps of Punta Tombo but we understand that it is quite a ride from the port and at that time of year (March 6, 2015) we are not sure it is worth the trip as all the penguins may have migrated away. We know there is also Peninsula Valdes but the same question arises...will the whales be plentiful or have they migrated. We would appreciate any help on deciding what to do at this port on that date. Also, I have read of many great tour guides for the area...Patagonia Shorex, South Excursions, Forasterotours, Nievemar, enpatagoniatours. My head is spinning, any serious kudos for one of these tours over another? Thanks for the help!

  2. My first cruise was on the Mardi Gras in 1972, Boston to Bermuda. I went with my parents, two sisters and some cousins. It was a memorable first cruise. On our way to Bermuda, we had to steer out to sea and delay our arrival in Bermuda to avoid a hurricane. After we did arrive in Bermuda we enjoyed our first day on the island. When we got back to the ship, we had to throw our moped keys into a basket because the ship was leaving port due to the hurricane which was heading back toward the island. It was a bit wild and crazy for awhile there. Despite the crazy weather and many seasick passengers, I fell in love with cruising on the Mardi Gras.

I remember a beautiful ship, fun shows, I even remember the comedians name on the ship, Paul Franki. There were 4 young ladies in our cabin with a tiny bathroom which was also the shower. (I remember you could sit on the toilet and shower.) But what a great time we all had. Sorry to hear it has gone to scrap.

  3. Great to hear about the Britanis. I was on one of the Boston to Bermuda cruises in 80's with about 20 friends and we had a great time despite the fact of the rough weather and that they ran out of some of the licquor...I remember rumors of bankruptcy when we were aboard. I also remember 2 guys in our crowd who lucked out by getting a suite like room that had been remodeled into a cabin. It was huge and therefore many of us hung out there. Good times, good times.

Also, I am happy to see that she was built in Quincy, MA where I grew up. That would make two of my cruise experiences were aboard ships built in Quincy. The other was the Independence of the American Hawaii Cruise line.
