Hello Lovelies, it's been years since I've sailed out of Miami. We have faster to the fun. What time would you recommend getting to the port for? This is for the Magic.
TIA!

We did the Pasta making class on Mardi Gras. Made fettuccini and a pancetta tomato sauce from scratch. It was a lot of fun and would recommend it. The class was about an hour. There were about 10 cooking stations in the room with 2 people per station. They have all the ingredients pre-measured in little dishes and walk you through the entire process. At the end of the class, you get to sit and enjoy what you prepared. They gave everyone a "Carnival Kitchen" rubber spatula as a parting gift.
I've attached the handout they gave us with the recipes.
We did this class on Mardi Gras last year, but they only did one kind of pasta, it was a red sauce. We really enjoyed it.

I also had the DOU in the casino only, but was able to get drinks at the bar from the
bar tenders, I got to know them, and they knew me, plus good tips help, lol
Oh absolutely! I make sure to give them a good tip for each drink. A person I met at the spa on my last cruise told me to just walk up to the bar, she said she does it on every cruise and rarely has an issue.
No harm in trying 🙂

One of these days, someone will understand what the heck ur saying, but probably not anytime soon...😝
That person is pretty salty about others getting free drinks in a way they clearly don't approve. Sorry we're not all boy scouts mz-s! Haha, live a little, and lighten up 😜

If you have Drinks On Us, you must be actively playing to get free drinks. It stands to reason if you're standing at the bar you're not actively playing.
If you have Drinks on Us Everywhere, then you can order drinks anywhere (well, everywhere except room service) on the house.
Well they still served me as I was standing at the bar, all cruise long and I had DOU while playing in the casino. So some bartenders will do it, you just have to ask.

Unfortunately you can’t buy it yourself directly from the casino bar ( if the ship you’re on has one). The free offer only applies when you order from one of the servers walking the floor.
If you tip a dollar or two you’ll find they tend to come looking for you more often.
Last year on Mardi Gras I was able to just walk up to the casino bar and get my free drinks, I did it all cruise long and no one said otherwise to me. I know it probably greatly depends on the bartenders but it's worth a shot to try. Worst they can say is no.

Our favorite is aft extended balconies, but we've tried all different kinds and are happy with anything really lol We like to be in the aft, around deck 7, depending on the ship.

Oh I thought it was free wine at the italian restaurant onboard first night. I'm really out of date.
I think they may do that as well, or something similar. We book the steakhouse on the first night for every single cruise, we've always got the free wine.
-
Just wondering if Magic is still doing the free bottle of wine in the steakhouse on the first night?
Someone on reddit mentioned that they were on Panorama a few weeks ago and were told they no longer did the free wine.
Can anyone confirm please? Thanks!

Amber Cove has a pool bigger and better than Grand Turk. There is a free HoHo bus in San Juan and it takes you by both forts. Downtown is walkable. Stop for a snack in the area across from the pier. EM
Is the pool right there, free and open to anyone? That'll be awesome, my kid will love that.
Thanks for the San Juan tip!

Cruising on Magic in December 2023, I'm just wondering if anyone has suggestions for things to do.
I was thinking airplane beach would be cool to see in St. Maarten but it's probably really busy right? Are there any quiet beaches/hidden gems?
Is exploring San Juan on foot with a five year old realistic? Can you walk to some of the forts? Do they have a trolly type system or anything for getting around? Any decent beaches there?
We did an excursion last time we were at Amber Cove, so I'm not familiar with the port really. Is there a beach that's walkable?
We're just looking for anything family friendly that won't cost a lot.
Any tips would be helpful, thanks so much!

I hate how the media scares the general public into thinking that you can just “fall” off the ship through no fault of your own. If you fall off you either did something to deserve it, or you were murdered.
I know! I have some friends who wont cruise because they're afraid of this sort of thing lol I try telling them its basically impossible unless you're asking for it.

I have two cruises booked right now, one with easy pay. My second cruise is too far out and my credit card expires before the final payment date so it won't let me set it up for that one.
You don't see the three options when you go to pay? The first is easy pay, then full amount owing, or you can enter your own amount.
You might need to call them.

Street Eatz is free and yummy! Not sure if Timeless Fries, Dumplings and Kebobs is part of that. The Street Eatz menu changes daily. Also Gelato, by the Shwarma on Lido is free!
I loved the gelato place, what a lovely surprise that was. Different cake and gelato daily, yes please lol

you can upload into a slot machine-- but dont think it will allow the whole 500 with one shot
Well I won't be doing that anyways, pretty sure my husband would leave me 😂 I'm just trying to gauge how much cash I should bring since we spend most of our cash at the casino.

yes...anything onboard...drinks, slots, photos, bingo, doesn't matter...
Awesome! Thanks for the info

I'm booking a cruise that will give us $500 onboard credit. Can that be used at the casino? Like when you're at the slot machine and you charge your room, will that be deducted from the onboard credit?
I'm just wondering if it's a general credit for whatever you might use your sign and sail for or if there's restrictions.

I actually reached out to John Heald by posting on his facebook page, and he told me that the day pass on Mardi Gras is $49. So I just went ahead and got the seven day pass, I'll definitely go more than three times, to make it worth my while.
-
I can't seem to find what the price of a day pass is. Through my cruise manager I can purchase a week pass for $149. Just wondering how much I'd have to use that to make it worth it. Does anyone know the current price? 7 day itinerary if that makes a difference

Omg thank you so much!!
