  1. How is it bait and switch? They didn't lure you to the website by showing you and advertised price. You went to the website on your own will and found the price. Boohoo. That's what's wrong with this company. People want something for nothing.

  2. If you were using the tender to get to land to walk around yourself or do your own excursion you will go to guest services to go past the line like everyone is saying.

Since you are going on an excursion through carnival you will wait in the theater with everyone else unroll your excursion is called. You will tender with everyone else.

Also, There is no priority line for tendering back to the ship.

    This is from past experience.

  3. If a cruise includes new years eve and day, is the formal night the regular formal night or does the normal formal night change to new years eve? Or is there an additional formal night for new years?

We are sailing on the Elation leaving the 28th. The normal formal night is the next night (29th). And new years eve we will be getting back on the ship from Cozumel.

  4. Yes.

We have sailed with family/friends where some were past guests and others were not. In order to get the best prices, our PVP booked each past guest with each new guest.

Once on board, all who wanted to switch cabins met at Guest Services. The guy behind the counter reassigned the mag strips on our Sail and Sign cards so that spouses could be together. It took all of two minutes. Everyone's credit card info stayed with their own S&S cards. We had an on-board credit for owning stock and that moved with my DH's reassignment.

We've done this twice so far. with no issues.

When you print luggage tags, put the tags of the cabins that people WANT to be on the luggage so they will be delivered to the appropriate cabins.

Hey everyone thanks for the good news. I'll let yall know how it goes.

Never even thought of putting past guests with non past guests for better rates. We should have done that especially since both DW and I are platinum and we will still only get one plate of chocolate treats.

Great idea in switching the luggage tags too!

  5. I believe that you can do this at check-in, or afterwards at the Guest Services desk. I'm assuming that all of the same people that you originally booked are involved (as opposed to replacing passengers with entirely different passengers, which does involve a fee). Some rooms have limitations on the number of guests. There are requirements regarding children, and people under 25, and so on. Mixing and matching guests should not be an issue, based on what I've read from others who have done this.

Others with experience doing this can answer with more clarity, but I don't think it will be a problem.

And as far as I know, this is not something that you do by calling Carnival and switching people around. In fact, I would warn that they are just as likely to screw things up royally even if it is possible to do over the phone, so beware.

Thanks for the warning. What happened is that we had 2 three person rooms next door to each other (M152 & M154 on the Elation) for 3 kids, a baby, and their parents. (1 parent and 2 kids in each room) The baby isn't going now so 1 parent and 1 kid got moved to a 2 person room far away (M127 same cat though). We would rather have the parents and children close to each other.

We have 2 other rooms (M168 & M172) not too far from the original 3 person rooms (M152 & M154). I was wondering if we can switch the parent and kid in M127 with the people in M168 or M172. God this is confusing to explain. Wonder what would happen when I describe this to Carnival.

  6. I agree with this..

Well I didn't know this until doing a little reading but FTF people are able to get in the same line with platinum / diamond at tender ports and debarkation. I can easily see a few 3 and 4 person cabins with FTTF causing platinum/diamond have to wait to get on a tender boat or wait for debarkation. I also realize some new points people have brought up: 1. a newer but now FTTF people may not have all their cruise docs in order like a seasoned cruiser and cause a line in the vip lounge and 2. Newer cruisers may have more questions at the front desk causing a line and making the people that earned the right to be in the line to wait.

Like I said before, as long as it doesn’t cause platinum/diamond to wait longer there is no reason why to complain. Now this would be a problem for me.

  7. My wife and I finally made Platinum status and are totaly excited:D

Are there any requirements to maintain Platinum status, such as having to take a cruise every so often? Carnival's site mentions how to become.a Platinum VIFP but cant find anything saying that once you are platinum you stay platinum. I know some hotels and airlines will cancel your status if you are dormnt for a while. Although i doubt we will go a year without taking a Carnival cruise it would be nice to know. I would hate to lose platinum. Apologise if this is a repeat post.

    Thanks all!

  8. 1. No, but there is room.

    2. Roatan (Mahogany) s not a tender port. But yes, Platinums can get priority tendering from the ship. Only in Alaska have I seen it both ways.

    You're welcome!

Thanks forbyour quick response. I ment to say Belize not Mahogany Bay. Saw in your pictures a long line to get on the tenders back to he ship but never saw a vip line. You ar pretty good at capturing stuff like hat if it exists so I was wondering if there was a vip line back to the ship. We are taking the same 7 day soon. Have fun on he Elation...we always did.
