  1. Been in the fitness centre a couple of times. Not been busy when I've been in. It's a good fitness centre. Well equipped.

Not sure if you mean the bar where there is a singer/pianist in? If it's the one with Lora then in my honest opinion she is the worst singer I have ever heard. Never more than 5 or 6 in there

  2. I'm on Grandeur now. With my 13 and 14 year old grandchildren. They hate it. Can't wait to get off. There is literally nothing to do The evening shows are embarrassingly bad. Daytime activities are limited to ring toss, baggo or trivia. That's it. Personally I will never sail this class of ship again There is literally nothing good I can say for this old dated ship

  3. Been on allure a couple of times. Recently been on harmony. The dress code is always "suggested". We saw plenty of people in shorts in the MDR Never seen anyone turned away. It isn't a rule, it's a suggestion lol. I've even seen shorts on formal night. Can't say I've definitely seen flip flops. We love to dress for dinner regardless of the venue, we just enjoy it. But it's your vacation. Wear what you like

  4. Not sure about Grandeur. Our first trip on her is a Christmas and New Years cruise. But have been on Sovereign, allure and harmony.

    Wear whatever makes you happy

Some (me) go all out. I love to dress up. Others (hubby) wear casual. Trousers and shirt. No jacket no tie

Unless I insist lol. But really...it's personal choice. Everything is "suggested". For me it's a great excuse to go over the top. And I never feel out of place. Hubby prefers smart casual. And this seems to be ok too. It's your holiday. Your cruise. Go all out. Or wear shorts and a tee. In my experience it doesn't matter. What ever makes you happy!!

  5. I gave my sister and brother in law a cruise on Allure for Xmas. I gave them a box with little presents in...first one was travel sized toiletries. Then a DVD of Chicago. Which was the show on the ship. Then a passport cover. Then sun cream. A guide to the Caribbean . And finally the tickets. Even when they looked at the booking they still weren't sure what was going on lol. They had a fantastic time I'm sure your son and daughter in law will too

  6. We were given them on harmony (in a suite). We were a group of 13. When we ordered a round of drinks we had to hand them all to our waiter. First time we did it we had no idea who's was who's when they came back lol. Me and hubby went back to our sea pass cards and the younger ones wrote their names on the back of theirs so they could tell them apart. The kids liked them because they had no need to carry a card with them on board (you still need your seapass in port to get on and off the ship) but me and hubby preferred the cards. Guess it's an age thing lol

  7. We did this on harmony two weeks ago. It's a lot of fun We booked other family members in with us who were in other cabins. It became available to book in our planned about 42 days out And it was not all booked up when we went and did ours. The guy running it said it hadn't been booked up all that week

  8. On Harmony at the moment. With a 2 year old grandson. There is nothing for him to do. Too young for Adventure Ocean. He went in the $8 per hour nursery. Once. They gave my daughter a walkie talkie type thing. To call her if there was a problem. The problem was....it was another child's phone. They also gave another baby some one else's dummy/pacifier. And when my grandson woke from a nap whilst strapped in his buggy they left him in it. Screaming. Whilst they tried to contact my daughter. Who had the phone for another child. Not really very good. Apart from that there is virtually nothing for him to do Which we are ok with. We can entertain him ourselves

  9. We just boarded harmony with our sons friend. We got an (expensive ) notorised letter. Had it with us. No one asked to see it at all. It was never mentioned.

But this was Barcelona. Not UK.

We had to make an appointment to see a solicitor. His mum and me had to both be there (if his dad was around then he would also have to sign )

We signed in front of the solicitor. He stamped it and signed it as well

    An we didn't need it

Hope it's the same for you

  10. We are also taking a teenager who is not our child with us on a cruise (next week on Harmony...eeek!!) and Royal emailed and called us to make sure we understood we needed a notorised letter from his mother and that this was an absolute requirement. We went, with his mum, to a Public Notary (we are in the UK) and got a very fancy, very legal, letter with all necessary details on it. It's much better to be safe than sorry in these situations. It was a relatively cheap and simple thing to organise and I think the peace of mind it brings makes it worth it. The letter required was emailed over to us by Royal. We just filled in the gaps lol

Incidentally we have travelled numerous times with this "minor child" including to the USA, Caribbean, Europe etc and have never needed such a document before, although, as Brits, we always travel with our passports

  11. First time ever doing Xmas and New Year cruise on Grandeur. Taking 4 grandkids (along with their parents lol. I'm not crazy!) but a bit worried that a) grandeur is old and showing her age

    And

    b) there won't be enough to keep the kids entertained

Anyone who had done this cruise (or even this ship) got any comments ?

  12. To me, on a cruise, there is no "small stuff". It's all amazingly wonderfully fantastic !! I love it all....I'm on a cruise!!! Someone not appropriately dressed in the MDR? So what. I dress the way I see fit. As I'm sure they must The free bubbly is not vintage champagne? So what. It's free!! They don't serve my favourite brand of liquor? I'm sure the brands on board are SOMEBODIES favourite. Maybe they could become mine!

At the end of the day...I'm on holiday. How good is that? And to top it off...I'm on holiday and I'm on a cruise!!! Nothing. Nothing at all. AT ALL can spoil that. Mainly because I refuse to let it! It's my cruise. And I will cruise it my way

    Hope you all do too!
