  1. My husband and I are taking our son and daughter-in-law on their first cruise in a couple of weeks. She is an avid knitter and will want to relax and do some knitting while on board.  I have searched the FAQ's but find nothing about restrictions carrying on knitting needles. I understand restrictions on scissors and have that covered.  I tried posting the question on John Herads facebook page but just got crickets.  She mainly uses circular needles.

Any knitters out there that have experience in this?

  2. Just an FYI on turnaround time for the cards.

I ordered 5 cards on Sept 10, and they were shipped on Sept 11. These cards required a signature.   Tracking was not available on the app.  I was disappointed with that because I wanted to be sure to be home to not miss the delivery.

UPS delivered all card on Sept 15th.   Now just hoping we go on December 27th and not have to postpone again!

  3. We just returned from a Carnival journey cruise to Panama. Both my husband and I use scooters. As stated above we both have good days and bad days and depending in the day determines what we need to get around with the least amount of pain. Sometimes its the scooter, or it could be a walker or canes. I am going to use what I need to help me make my cruise as enjoyable as possible. So, you bet, sometimes you will see me on my scooter, sometimes you will see me using my cane. None of anyone business but mine.

And fyi... as many times as people have ran in front of me, stepped in front of me and then stopped dead in their tracks, tried to push me out of the way, cut off my path to the elevator, I haven't hit anyone yet.

To those who post their "miraculous healing" observations.. you have no idea of others journeys. You don't know what you don't know.

    That being said..

We embarked in Tampa and after security we were directed to a wonderful gentlemen to check is in. He had a mat on the floor and we were instructed to roll on to measure the length and width to be sure we were in tolerance of the door width. He also gave a gentle reminder that scooters were not allowed to be left in the hall way. This part has never been an issue with us. In addition he gave us priority boarding.  win win. At this port they also had scooters available for rent.

I wish they did this fleet wide. Our scooters are in our room. I would not trust them to be left in the hall anyway.

  4. My husband has been traveling with a CPAP for 20 plus years. It is in the original bag, NEVER checked. Always carried with him. He has a luggage tag identifying it has medical equipment. It does not count as a carry on, but is in addition to your allowed carry on.  An extension cord is in the bag with it.

Be advised that TSA will inspect it and normally will do a wipe down on it.

  5. I can reply to that first hand. We book a handicap accessible not for more room for my husbands scooter, that helps as his scooter is 23 inches wide. We book it because of no step up to the bathroom, a shower seat, walk in shower, grab rails, both for the toilet and shower. With Parkinsons, no steps and grab rail are wonderful.

We would love to be able to book a regular cabin, it would sure open up more opportunities to sail. As of now, we book 1 to 2 years on advance.

  6. We have sailed from New Orleans multiple times. I understand your concerns. My husband has Parkinson and uses a mobility scooter. in addition, We have had wheelchair assist for me the last time we were on the Dream. I would contact the guest access team for Carnival. You can find contact info and more info on accessibility on their website.

I found the Carnival team to be very helpful at the port with wheelchair assistance, getting us both through security and checked in. There is no special boarding, but we only had a short wait before going aboard. If I use wheelchair assistance, I make sure to tip my pusher.

You can also arrange assistance when you disembark.

We had a great time on the Dream, enjoy your cruise.
