Thanks for sharing this!  Do you remember which apps you used?  I tried to call NCL customer service and they were ZERO help at all 😞

FB, Instagram, Snapchat, Google Voice (I think), my banking app (I know it isn't advised), some of my credit card apps, airline check-in,.  I'm sure there were others, I just can't remember which ones.

  2. I’m mad at myself for waiting a day, and now seeing the increased prices.  I just put a balcony on hold and will pull the trigger tomorrow.  I’d love to make this my first B2B and add Norway, too, but not sure if I could leave the dogs for that long.

  3. I'm on the Breakaway now in an H5. It is a king sized mattress, so it doesn't split. We have a small twin sized pull out bed that doesn't look comfortable. I'm here until the morning if you have other questions.

Now your father invested considerable money on international flights, missing ports on a trip like that may truly be a once in a lifetime miss and I'm sorry for the disappointment that must bring. NCL will refund the port charges associated with those misses and they may provide a bounceback offer so he can book with NCL in the future.

So far, they have credited us $44/PP and no mention of a bounceback offer or additional credit.

  5. I'm on board the Breakaway now, using the social package. I've found that many of my apps, not just FB, IG, Snapchat, etc, work with the package. I can't check my gmail or open a browser window, but have been successful accessing other sites that have an app. They are having some satellite issues today, but until that, it has been very reliable service.

  6. Although people say you shouldn’t book ship for itinerary as ports can be missed for safety reasons in the case if a Baltic’s cruise it IS all about the ports especially st Petersburg and refunds should reflect this

Unfortunately, all I'm aware of is a $44 credit per person as a refund of port fees and taxes. Disappointed is an understatement, we booked in January 2017 and were looking forward to all of our ports. But NCL has no control over the weather.

  7. I bid on an H5 from a mid-ship balcony just a few weeks before sailing. I bid $100 over the minimum and it was accepted the next day. I hesitated because we were booked on a port intensive 9 day Baltic and wasn't sure if we could take full advantage of the area. I'm on the ship now and we ended up with 3 of the 5 ports being cancelled due to weather. It suffices to say, we are so grateful for the extra pampering, quiet spaces and a private dining room and bar. We had 2 wonderful sunny days in Russia and this has gone from an exhausting itinerary to a relaxing vacation.

  8. Correction after my last post. The dam is open in St Petersburg, the Viking Sun (much smaller only 900 pax) is stuck against the pier from wind and the current. They had 2 tug boats to try to get it out. They are still there according to last updates. Hopefully, this will have no effect on us.

  9. I'm on the Breakaway now, too. I've been following a FB post from a cruiser stuck in St Petersburg on a Viking Ocean ship. As of her last post, the dam was still up. She said they are experiencing 50 knot winds, and their ship is pinned to the dock. If our captain isn't alerted that the dam has reopened, I don't see how he can get us there. If I see an update from her, I'll relay the info. They are missing out on several ports, too. They are supposed to be in Tallinn.

Yes, it really sucks, but mother nature doesn't always cooperate. In the meantime, we are on vacation, safe on a beautiful ship and we have a home that isn't flooded, to return to. Our once in a lifetime itinerary may have to go back onto our bucket list.

  10. wait...so if I bid and am awarded a Haven room, I don't get the Haven perks? Just a huge room?

You will get the Butler, Concierge, use of the Haven restaurant, bar, pools, priority reservations. What you won't get are the additional perks that people who originally booked Havens receive. For example, you might have had a choice of 2 from drinks or dining package, excursion credit, internet, gratuities, where a Haven guest might have been eligible for all of them. You won't get additional ones.

  11. Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos and descriptions. I'll be on this itinerary in September 2018 on the Breakaway. Someone shared a link to this on our private "other social media platform" group. I'm bookmarking it to review as we get a little closer. We are very concerned about jet lag so in addition to arriving in Copenhagen a few days early, we are spending a couple of days in Iceland pre-cruise. I'm hoping that helps us to gradually acclimate to the time differences. I feel like I need a nap now, lol.

  12. Thanks for the pics! From the looks of it, we might be overlooking the palapa, but I think it will be OK. Your thoughts?

I had to google what a palapa is, lol. They are small, there is a big hot tub on both sides of the ship and the pool is in the middle. The tiki umbrella won't block your entire view.

  13. Mary - your information and pictures are very helpful! Any chance you have pictures of your balcony?

I'm planning ahead for when Horizon itineraries are released. And as much as I'd love to book a Havana cabana, I fear my husband would hate the loss of privacy. I'm now wondering if one of the aft Havana balconies on 6/7 would ensure both of us are happy. :)

The Balcony is much deeper than a regular Balcony and unless you are standing next to the railing there is no lack of privacy. This photo is looking down at a deck 6 Aft Balcony, really leaning over. If you are seated, people can't look up and see you from the Havana deck unless you are right near the glass. Note: these are not cabana cabins, just classified as Havana. The cabanas on deck 5 theoretically could have privacy concerns, but I heard no complaints from anyone lucky enough to score one.

I know we can't reference groups in other social medial platforms but I have many photos posted on the Carnival Vista group page whose icon is a blue F. Search 7463 to find it.

  14. We have 7465 next month. Just wondering, How was the storage in your cabin? I read a review on CC somewhere that the storage on Vista was lacking.

I've never added photos here, I hope this works. This is the closet space in 7463, it was plenty for us. We bring our own hangers and always overpack. There are also the 2 big drawers under the couch. Life jackets are now under the bed, not in the closet.

  15. Has anyone had 7456?

I had 7463. Yours will be a tiny, tiny bit larger, only because of the curve of the ship. It seemed comparable to other Aft balconies we've had, the balcony itself, was a good size with a lounger, club chair and ottoman in brown PVC faux wicker.
