  1. Hello fellow cruisers ,

We have booked the 2020 Queen Mary 2 round the world 99 days ,

I am beyond excited , we have done two other world 2011 and 2013 , on Cunard aNd P and O .

I'm already packing in my mind.

Lots and lots of time to prepare.

QM2 is my favourite ship and I love the lectures and activities on board.

We are traveling east to west so lots of new places to visit.

We booked early as we really wanted an inside cabin and they sell out first , pleased with where we are.

We will be diamond on this cruise so I'll have lots of Internet time.

Drinks are expensive on board but there are lots of party nights so we I'll not miss anything.

    Sooooooooo Excitedddddddd

  2. My husband is one of the destination speakers, so many people recognize him and love to chat. We always choose the anytime dining and like to sit at a big table of whoever is being seated at the same time. We meet lots of people and have a great time, BUT on our last cruise on Celebrity we had a Maitre d that made it clear that we were NOT welcome in the dining room because that was for "real" guests. (we ARE guests - not employees). After a few days we went over his head and there were no more hassles, but it made us dread going to the dining room and it wasn't nearly as much fun.

We were on a world cruise 110 days seated at a table for 10 or 12 , two of the people never turned up so one lady asked us if we thought it was a good idea to invite the speakers or performers to dine with us ' it was wonderful and we all got on so well , we asked two of the dancers who had gotten engaged to join us one night,,,,, the stories they told us ,,,,

We love being at a large table . Mind you we are often seated at a Spanish table as we book from Spain ,,,, the Spanish are LOUD

  3. Does anyone know if there and any themed nights on the Christmas sailing . Where can I find this information .

Do people dress up for Christmas and the new year.

It's my first time to sail from America and I have lots of questions ,

Are there lots of children on board and is Santa also on board.

Any presents for us? We have been very good this year.

    Any religious services .

  4. we are thinking of doing a world cruise in 2019 , his 70th.birthday or 2020 my 70th. Birthday ,

We have done two worlds one with Cunard and one with P and O . Loved both but preferred Cunard .

I love the international feel of the cruises and of course seeing wonderful new sights .

Any suggestions for our next one. We have sailed out of Southampton both times but I am open to anywhere in Eupope ,

I think from US it would need a lot more planning and flights .

    Your ideas please

  5. I've never spent the holidays on a cruise , what should I expect, will there be decorations, will we have a special Christmas dinner ,,,what would be traditional?for North America? Do they have crackers and games.

Do people dress up? Christmas jumpers Tshirts ?

Are there presents ? What about New Year ? :champagne-toast::ship::confused:

  6. I have been to all of these ports , I live in Spain and I think all are doable with young children , there is a nice beach in cittivecia for the kids Rome might be a bit difficult ,I'd let the olds do it themselves ,

Valencia has a wonderful maritime museum that the kids would love.

It could be an idea to stay on board at one of the ports when the ship is empty to have a break.

There will be loads of other kids on board and kids clubs so ther will make friends ,,,by the way , I think European children are less cosseted than Americans

  7. We have done two world cruises , both booked well in advance , there is a lot of planning , if you are visiting India visa s are a nightmare China as well.

Our first was with cunard on all three ships , the transfers were well organised and painless.

P and O s itinerary was fantastic but I much preferred Cunard as the passengers were very international and the lecturers very knowable?

We are looking at doing another world perhaps in 2019 or 2020 .

  8. We live in Europe so we do lots of Mediterreian cruises , we even have one travel agency that pick us up from our front door .

We usually do three a year two cheapies and a longer one .

This year we have been on two Costa cruises , next week we are on pulmantour, December oour biggie QM2 transatlantic, NCL for Christmas and the New Year and back to England on QM .

We are retired , I really don't want to know how much we spend !!!!

We are SKIING ( Spending Kids Inheritance)

I'm looking at a repositionial cruise next April.

Our friends call us cruise gypsies

  9. It is supposed to sail to at least 3 of the islands badly effected by the hurricane. Will they reroute or cancel the cruise outright? If they cancel outright what happens because we would be stranded in new york for 12 days if that was to happen. We are doing westbound cunard sailing dec 15th to nyc and then Jan 3rd eastbound sailing to southampton

    Opinions please. Thanks in advance.

Ace we are on the same cruises as you , I love the TAs and am a big fan of cunard , hoping NCL will be as good if different.

I'm sure the cruise will go ahead pity if we miss some of the ports , I was looking forward to Tortola never been there.

Do you have a transfer to your hotel in NY ?

We will be at the ROW Hotel ,,,,no idea where it is ,
