  1. Hi Experienced RC Cruisers!

I'm interested in a cruise out of San Juan in mid-late January (best time for work reasons) of 2020. Currently there is only the Freedom of the Seas that is available to book and there is very little availability for the week we want. That is surprising to me as I thought I was planning early. LOL.

    2 questions:

Will there be another ship added out of San Juan? I see that Jewel of the Seas is currently going out of San Juan. And if so, any idea of when?

Second, when does RC typically release their schedules? Maybe I need to target 2021.

    Thanks for all your help.

  2. I want to reserve my flights and the price is great for my cruise out of Miami. Thinking of flying into Fort Lauderdale and arriving at 11:03. Is that cutting it too close between baggage claim, travel time and check in? worried about a delay as well. Thanks.

That would be way to close for me. If you can't fly in the day before, try to get the earliest flight that morning. There can be delays for any number of reasons and sometimes for no reason at all.

  3. A few questions for you experts:

    1. When do you think the first voyage will be?

    2. How long after that will the ship head to the US?

I know this info is not available but I'm sure some of the experts on here have an idea!

    Thanks!!

  4. We've been on a few New Year's Eve cruises & agree with what everyone else has said--it's a huge party on Lido with hats, music, dancing, champagne (but it gets so crowded it can be hard to get some). Inside is a balloon drop but I've never gone inside. Last year, it poured at 11:45 pm and everyone just kept dancing. The biggest party I've ever been to. We're not doing one this year and I'm kinda sad about it.

  5. This is my biggest issue is just have some compassion and give us a break. Especially since we have went on multiple cruises with them. I'm not saying it was in anyway shape or form Carnival's fault. It was completely on him/us for not making sure sooner he had it. But would it hurt them to be a little compassionate? At one point we were standing at the counter debating whether or not my family was going to go without him and both my kids were crying. One Carnival employee even made the comment that if somebody else was in working in customs that day that they would have probably let us on. I also don't understand why we had to wait over 3 hours just to be told no. The boyfriend had family relatively close to the port and had we been told sooner that he wouldn't be allowed on, the rest of us may have went on the cruise anyway. At least then we could have been assured that he had someone there to pick him up and he wasn't just stranded hundreds of miles from home. I guess I just feel doing a good deed here may cost them a couple grand, which is nothing to them but overall would do more good than harm. We will most likely spend more money than previously if they credit us for another cruise, would be more likely to consider future cruises with them and would pass on that they are a good company that takes care of their customers. As it stands now they will definitely not get any future business from us, not that it will hurt them at all lol.

That must have sucked for all of you! Sorry this happened. As a parent of 3 forgetful kids, I can imagine this happening. Hey-kids are kids. What a bummer--did you at least go to the beach for 5 days?

  6. There is already a spirited debate in another thread regarding balcony smoking; vigorous and civil debate can be held there.

This is a basic yes / no poll.

If you are on your balcony and a neighbor is smoking, would you report the smoker to GS / Security?

I had a smokers next to me on my last cruise and just didn't want to be a b*tch. We had chatted & they seemed really nice. With the wind, the smoke didn't bother me too bad.

  7. Huge deck party. Champagne (cheap) flows freely during embarkation and on at the deck party, They put party favors and hats on dining tables in mdr. We have done New Years cruises for three years and love them

We've done 4 and agree with the above. It's the biggest, loudest party I've ever been to. At midnight they sound the ships horn. Lots of fun.

  8. How far in advance of a cruise should you place an order for a cake? We'll be celebrating our daughter's birthday while on our cruise, and I want to order a cake. Is one week ahead too late? Thirty days ahead too soon? What's been your experience?

I've ordered a few times & each time it was on board at Cherry On Top. We had them delivered to us at dinner in MDR & the waiters sing Happy Birthday. They make it nice! The cake is just OK.

  9. I've sailed a handful of times out of San Juan and it's probably one of the best cruise itineraries I've ever experienced. I'm so confused why Carnival would put one of their oldest ships in the fleet on this itinerary? I'm really disappointed, older ships like the Fascination, Ecstacy, Imagination, etc need to be for short runs, not the 6-9 itineraries.

I agree. I want to do this itinerary but not excited about the Fascination. I will look into the other lines but I'm curious about the Fascination. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good balcony cabin on the Fascination? Thanks.

  10. I'm organizing a scavenger hunt on the Breeze. Now I'm looking to include some tough, hard questions for the participants.

I've already asked on our roll call a couple of warm up questions, but these folks are GOOD.

So, any secrets, any "not-so-easy-to-google" questions (and answers) are welcome.

    Thanks for helping me out!

Something unusual on the Breeze is wine in the library.

Maybe a picture of them playing shuffle board or Fuse Ball in Red Frog?

The game room for kids is sorta hard to find.

If I think of more I'll post them.

  11. It's official from carnival. I found it somewhere on the .com and made a JPEG out of the PDF a while ago. Pretty nifty, huh? [emoji41]

Thanks because I couldn't find it on Carnivals site. Now I'll be able to find it next time I need it.

  12. Thank you for the review. I'm headed on the Breeze in 3 weeks...getting excited!!

We're also planning on Paradise beach, so I'm glad to hear someone went there recently and would recommend it:)

Do you recall which movies played at the Dive in theater?

Sorry--didn't notice what movies there were playing. We loved Paradise Beach. We would def go back.

  13. Great review! Thank you. We are doing the same cruise in April. Can you tell me how much the Jamaica tour was? Also, what did you do at the blue hole? Do you have to jump from the rocks or can you just walk into the water?

    Thanks Again!

The Jamaica tour was $200 not including admission to Blue Hole ($15 each), lunch which was $40 total, or tipping. There is a guide at Blue Hole we tipped and of course, Errol.

At Blue Hole--we did alot of jumping. I guess you could walk into the water, but we didn't. I don't think it would be as fun:)

I do wish we asked to stay longer & explore more. Here is a picture of my daughter walking down a rock that we jumped from. (sorry, can't figure out how to post picture directly)

  14. Thanks for the recap! She is our favorite ship!!!

Sounds like you guys had a great time!!!:D:D

Since you were in Falmouth, by any chance did you try a Jamaican Beef patty from Tastees? Apparently it's a kiosk right off the ship (still within the gates)?

I've heard great things, and sadly, it's one reason I want to go.:o

No--missed that. Although our guide mentioned them--so it must be good. The port was newly built & nice, but kinda small.
