  1. Hi Deely,

Had you any luck finding car hire in Zeebrugge for Sunday 25th October? I was in Bruge last February after visiting Ypres and it is a beautiful place. I will be with my wife and two kids on the Anthem and was hoping to show them Bruges but there does not seem to be any car hire on a Sunday.

no, sorry, we just ended up getting a taxi to Brugge in the end. We joined up with another couple (from dinner!) and just got into a taxi straight off the ship. It was pretty quick and easy and from memory it was around €40 return. We arranged where and when to meet for the return and the driver was great - arrived a few minutes early so happy to tip well.

Just as an aside, we are on the Anthem from 27th for the TA to NY!!

  2. Can someone tell me if vegetarian options are easily available in the Grande, Coastal kitchen and Chic? I have been a little concerned about various comments I've read on other threads about having food prepared that was not specifically listed on the menu. I'm also extremely concerned about food allergies. Two of our family members eat fish but two other members are allergic to shellfish and the menus seem to be "shellfish heavy" (and none of us eat meat or chicken but we do eat cheese/eggs). I would appreciate knowing experiences from those who needed to make special requests. After 30+ cruises, I am so used to the dining room experience and any special requests being easily accommodated and I'm very concerned that dynamic dining will present difficulties in this area.

I've also been concerned about comments made that the actual menus onboard differ from those posted online as I made our reservations based on the sample menus and food choices that look appropriate for us.

Thanks to anyone who can supplement the limited information I have found on the Quantum threads.

I would also like this info as we are booked on Anthem. Nothing on the menus has a V to confirms its vegetarian. Many items that may be vegetarian have cheese but not all cheese is vegetarian. Any Vegetarians have experience of Quantum Restaurant?

just wondering if you'd since been on your cruise and have any further info please

  3. Hi, new to this forum, hello everyone.

Looking at booking across the pond on the anthem in October, can anyone give me any pointers, whats good, what to avoid, looking at a balcony front ship probably deck 12 are the options at the minute, I'm not sure if this is too close to the adventure ocean ? Can anyone advise ?

Also, the drinks on us promotion, what does this include ? Do you think this sailing is likely to be full, I'm guessing not many kids on it etc due to date of sailing ?....not that we mind, we did Disney Dream in November and that was fab.

Any help gratefully received, looking to book this weekend...

    cheers

did you book this cruise? We did, last weekend and are also DCL fans!

  4. Thanks for the info.

Think we'll look at the ones further out for the price. We'll start walking and no doubt DH will then run ahead - " why walk when you can run?" Seems to be his motto, NOT mine tho'

  5. that sounds really good, but we have booked our first Celebrity cruise through cruiseco as I believe it's classed as a private cruise so I suspect we wouldn't be able to take this up as apparently the TA's don't pass the passenger info to Celeb until close to sail date? We sail 25th May on Eclipse from S'ton for 5nights

  6. Our normal procedure, when in Le Havre, is to simply rent a car for the day. This gives us the freedom to drive over to Honfleur, Deauville, or perhaps even head the other way to Fecamp and Etretat. On our last driving trip we stumbled on another cute village called Beuvron-en-Auge which is a picture postcard tiny village considered one of the prettiest villages in France. We love driving and exploring in France (recently returned from a month long driving trip in Eastern France) and are always finding cute little places.

As to rental cars in Le Havre, there is one company (Rentacar.fr) that has a location right in the port. But we find this company too expensive and prefer to walk out of the port to one of the nearby agencies (we generally go to Europcar). But be forewarned that this is a good hike of about a mile.

Do you recall any rough prices for car hire, please as this sounds a great way to spend a day

  7. Not sure if you found your answer, but we are just off 7 nights AOS and bought the all prints package on board for $249.99. This price was the same as the pre purchase all digi (couldn't find a all prints option for pre purchase) and was only for the first 3 days of the cruise, after this it was $299.99.

On the kiosk it showed we had 397 photo's but we could only find about 350 printed out. As we left it until the last day we figured it wasn't worth our time to cross check every single print against the kiosk so left it at that as we had lots of great photo's to take away especially for the price.

There were several opportunities for photo's every night (except the last), with the least being 3 on one night and 8 on formal nights, as well as MDR, in some bars, leaving the ship on port days and sail always on deck so we were very happy with the offerings, in fact the best on any cruise line we have travelled so far.

  8. Our boarding time last week was 2:15 but we were there just after 11:30 and had no problems boarding.

    That's good to know.

I do see what they're trying to do but many people who travel a distance would not dare leave it so close to embarkation time to arrive in S'ton so could end up with a lot of cars clogging up the roads while they wait for their arrival times.

  9. I had a question about a Cunard policy sometime ago and posted it to their Facebook page. I received a response pretty quickly.

Posts to Facebook are public so I think companies are keen to answer them in some fashion just to show they do respond.

I used this same tactic with Premier Inn's when they didn't get back to me (on email) about an issue and it worked very well. I got another prompt and very pleasant answer along with an email address to use for any additional questions.

Thanks, knew I had a FB account for something!!!!
