Dance momma, I'm also on the Nov. 5 River Empress, as is a couple I've been emailing with.  I leave Nashville on Nov. 3, so if there are any major changes (like a cancellation!) I hope I know beforehand.  My air is booked thru Uniworld.  If it turns into a bus trip all or part of the way, I'll just roll with it.  I can't imagine the logistical headaches associated with trying to arrange buses and hotel rooms for almost 200 people at a moment's notice.

    Hi Roz,

Im sooo excited for this trip we are traveling with friends from New Jersey,  we booked our air thru Uniworld as well and are leveling on November 3rd!  Going to roll with things! Just curious have you received your cruise documents yet?  We have not and our friends have not, travel agent has requested that they be resent, supposedly sent in August !  I have been messaging with tom and Judy as well!  It will be a great trip one way or another!

  2. ECSTASY cruisers: new to Carnival & to Charleston. Any parking tips? good signage of where we should drive? drop off bags, then park? No interest on our Roll Call and can't figure out why? What's with the ship not having heat in the cabins? was this a one time thing, or do we need to bring hoodies? Thanks for any suggestions. Figures crossed we don't have plumbing problems or A/C - heat issues.

We went on a girls cruise in April drove from North Carolina! Decided to park off the terminal area because of congestion, used Park and Go and then we used Uber to the ship! It was soooo easy, we also had Faster to the Fun and walk right on the ship! We had plenty of AC in our cabin we were an inside cabin at the back of the ship and had noooo issues! have a great time!

  3. Hi there, reporting in again. We’re currently on Viking’s Idi on the Rhine headed from Amsterdam to Basel. We just received word that we’ve been given the green light to proceed all the way to Basel without any deviations or ship swap. So happy and wishing you future travelers get the same good news on your trips.

Excellent trip so far and I’m sure the remainder will continue to be more of the same.

That’s great news! Enjoy your trip! Sooo looking forward to ours in November!

  4. Thanks for that info. We will probably just get the Oia on your own excursion, it's fairly inexpensive and we like to wander at our own pace! Being the first tender definitely will make a difference!!

    Thanks again!!

Two years ago we did the ship tour and we soooo wished we had done it all on our own! We only had a very short time like 90 minutes! If friends had not been waiting on us back at the bus we would have skipped the rest of the tour and found our own way back to the ship! We loved Oia!

  5. I just wanted to add some extra thoughts. Even though the Rhine was filled with riverboats, we never rafted.

The afternoon that we sailed by the castles with comments from Ramona was very nice.

If you extend your trip to Lucerne, there is a mini train to see the town. Unfortunately, we missed it and also missed seeing the Lion Monument.

Also there is a day or 2 when the boat is in town a long time and some people did not return for dinner.

Hmmmm....I’m not sure you really enjoyed your trip? it sounds like it was just OK? The money we are paying for this cruise I guess Im expecting it to be fantastic!

  6. If your ship doesn’t get in until 7am I would say no! You should be at the airport by 8am or 830! We were told anything after 11:30 is fine! If you want to try it you will definitely need to walk off with your luggage and hope you make it!

  8. We loved Alaska! Did it last summer! Yes defiantly do Harv and Marv you can take a bus to the Mendenhall Glacier and we did Whale watching in the afternoon! In Skagway we went to the Yukon on a smaller van it held like 20 people! So glad we did that instead of the train, we stopped when we wanted saw bears it was one of our favorites! Look at Trip Advisor! We only did one tour with the ship and didn’t like it! We Sea Kayaked in Ketchikan it was awesome! Have a wonderful time! If you can just get on board credit either the gratuities or some pictures with family would be great!

The ship was not crowded when we were at Hubbard Glacier, we really would not have used the balcony that much! Always able to sit on deck and see everything! it awas a wonderful cruise so far our favorite! Its totally different then a Caribbean cruise! Enjoy!
