  1. Thank you both. Since it's not very likely that I will see many whales in lake Erie I will have to check them out while on my cruise. Thank you both for your input. I will have to check out exactly what is the Russians Bishops house.

Getting prepared to select excursion for the ports we will be visiting on our cruise.  Based on the knowledge and experiences of this group of cruisers I was wondering what is the DO NOT MISS for each of the ports listed.  I assume some will be better for whale watching while others for bears.  Some for touring the port city/town while others totem poles.  I will be travelling with my 63 year old sister, our first visit, and we are no longer up to hiking, kayaking, or small raft type boats.

    Sitka

    Juneau

Any and all guidance would be appreciated.  We are sailing with RCCL on the Quantum of the Seas.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think we will even break even on the drink package, but we purchased it mainly for the convenience (especially on the island). My husband knows how I am on vacations. I'll be thinking "is it REALLY worth it to order a second glass of wine at dinner??" This way, it's already paid for and I can just enjoy without thinking so hard about it! Of course, now I will be stressing about the tipping. lol

Someone I know will correct me if I'm wrong, but at the current 30% discounted price break even is just under 4.5 drinks at $13.00 per drink.  I always tip an additional $1.00 but I sign for/charge it to the room. I thought they received it direct because it was entered under their ID number in the system.  I suppose I could start carrying singles.

  4. We actually drove but they will provide transfers for a fee of course. We were doing the luau too. The center is very enjoyable. We actually did not provide enough time for touring each "island". This is definitely an all day experience plus the luau and the evening show which was wonderful.

  5. Sorry but this is NOT good advice. We sailed with our granddaughters and have been asked for a letter three times.

Once when we checked in on Disney, once on a Royal and once by Customs as we were getting off.

You are supposed to have a letter. Be prudent and obtain all of the documents you need!!!

Disney and Royal always asked for them. I agree bad advice. Just get the letter.

Never have cruised on Carnival but on other cruise lines the drink packages are often on sale or heavily discounted when combined with the internet packages. Does Carnival offer special deals on Cheers and wifi? If we order now to save on the 2018 price increase and a deal is offered can we cancel the purchased package in order to reorder it at the the discount? RCCL allows that.

  8. See the link above in my post........The Deluxe Beverage package ($55/day) is the most inclusive option and features everything in the Refreshment packages, as well as all cocktails, spirits, wines and beers priced at up to $12. (For drinks over $12, a $12 credit will be applied to the price of the drink.) Also included are a 40 percent discount on bottled wines prices up to $100 and a 20 percent discount on wines priced over $100. This does not include the 18% gratuity. They no longer have just a beer and wine one.

  9. Just got an email about an up to 30% discount offer for the drink packages, excursions, specialty dining, internet packages.

Saved an additional $169.92 on our drink packages (from 20% to 30% off)

Saved $42.00 on our three specialty reservations.

Saved $107.88 on the internet package (50% off)

Unfortunately the excursion we have booked, NY Tour that will get us back to the airport for our flight home was not discounted.

  10. You guys get free drink packages all the time that the US never gets.

Wow, I would love the free drink package over some of the discounts I've gotten. Missed out on the 30% drink package discount that was offered, I think it was only sent out to Diamond and above, and even with the 20% discount we did get it still cost each of us $651.36.

The reservations I book are usually done early and I don't think I ever had a single one that I did not get at least one price drop/discount/shipboard credit on. It's a line of business where you work hard to get paid less. LOL (banging my head against a brick wall)

  11. And Disney has also dropped prices in the past after final payment. It causes an even bigger uproar believe me.

I have never paid what I originally booked a cruise for. The last one dropped in price at least 5 times (yes I book early) and this one has dropped 3 times plus we picked up a $100 shipboard credit for the two of us. I continually check prices on all cruises booked by me and clients. Each time I tell my travel partner (Sister) we had another price drop she says the same thing, "they are going to be paying us to go on this cruise before it's all over." I love announcing in our roll call on CC another drop in price or shipboard credit offer.
