  1. Just now, skynight said:

It's 16+ months away. It will get more active as time goes by. These 28 day South Pacific cruises tend to have busy roll calls, with private tours like Pactrick's in Bora Bora. Some may be booking right now on the first day of the Sip&Sail.

Oh you are so right.  But on our cruise in'17 by this date we already had over 30 members and grew continuously.  I hope that you are correct when you say S&S will help boost the membership!

  2. Greeting Paul929207!  Of course you know that I am going to say Princess 28 Day Hawaii, Samoa & French Polynesia!

This is the first time that I have jumped on CC in quite some time and was pleased to see your post.  FYI It seems that eyegirl aka Michele & Michael are booked on the Oct 3 2020 28 Day Hawaii, Samoa & Fr. Polynesia cruise but they can't seem to get any response on the Roll Call that they started.

Hope everything is going great with you and your lovely wife.

Just Mike & Miss Betty aka RetiredNTraveling.

  3. WHERE IS EVERYONE?    Are there any cruisers going on the Cruise of a Lifetime besides Eyegirl aka Michele & Michael?  I was just lurking around on line and found the Roll Call Listing foEmerald Princess - October 3, 2020!  I was shocked, "Shocked I Say" and couldn't believe that since the cruise has been open for over a month and NO ONE except for Michele and Michael have joined the Roll Call!  Surely there are a few of you out there that have signed up for this Emerald Princess Cruise!

Come on over and check it out.     https://www.cruisecritic.com/rollcalls/emerald-princess-october-3-2020/

  4. On our last cruise which was a 28 Day Hawaii, Samoa & Fr. Poly. cruise, I did most of the laundry while I told my wife to take a nap. Out of the 6 times doing laundry, only 1 time did I see a lady doing the laundry. All of the other times it was anywhere from 2 to 4 guys doing the work and most of the time there were 3 of us. (Often the same fellows.) We all found it saved time if you went down to the Pursers Desk first for Tokens rather than trying to get them from the dispenser which usually just took your bills.

But the TV worked and helped to pass the time. Several times some of the wives would stop in to tell their husband where they were off to, mine included which was usually Bingo!

  5. You can buy a case (24 bottles) from your personalizer and it will be in your stateroom already when you arrive. The cost is only $6.90x2=$13.80. To me that is so much easier and not expensive either.

    Pooh

We recently took the 28 Day Hawaii, Samoa & Fr. Poly cruise. We ordered 4 of the $6.90 qty's of water from the Personalizer and it was just the right amount for the cruise. You will love the Golden.

  6. ATD is our choice. If we aren't in a hurry we usually go down to the Piazza around 4:45 or 5:00 and find a seat, order a drink and watch the people. Then later go over to the Dining Room and ask for "Sharing" and usually are seated very shortly.

However, if there is something that we want to do then Reservation is the way to go.

Either way you can't go wrong and by the way, you will love the Golden Princess!

  7. Greeting! We hope that you enjoy the "Suite Life"! As for laundry service, we have been fortunate enough 4 times to have had the opportunity to enjoy the Suite Life and of course we utilized the Free Laundry Service. ;) That is except for what the wife refers to as unmentionables and hosiery. :o Never had any issues.

  8. This was a great review and it was so much fun to read. It was really nice to see several of our fellow cruisers from the Oct 2017 Cruise posting.

There isn't a day that goes by without thinking about the great time and fantastic people who we were so fortunate enough to meet. Just want to say Hi to Paul929207 & Thrak!

There was a lot of effort by our Coordinators into getting the island tours put together. If we are fortunate enough to take this cruise again,we can only hope that there are enough people who are willing to volunteer to take on the challenge of working up the tours.

    Just Mike ;p;p

  9. This is an opinionated and interesting forum. But that is what makes CC so much fun. While we obviously haven't been on as many cruises, my darling wife and I also have our opinions. Suffice to say, we have been partakers in all of the various venues that have been offered on our fabulous cruises. We have been involved in short and some long meals in MDR's, buffets and Specialty Restaurants. As for 2 hour meals they are usually if not always at our choice. Good meals, great waiters, fantastic table mates make the time fly.

If, however, we get stuck with a less than enjoyable group at the meal I can always excuse us and escape from the "dreaded" table. But we never, I repeat never, sign up for Traditional Dinning.

Otherwise we just love meeting new people and as a result we make many new cruise friends.

  10. Greetings! My darling wife and I have cruised 14 days (now 15 day cruise) to Hawaii 2013 from LA once and also cruised 15 days to Hawaii 2016 from Vancouver once. Both were wonderful cruises, but in 2017 we took the cruise of a lifetime, "The 28 day to Hawaii, Samoa and Fr. Polynesia". It was simply spectacular and we had such a wonderful time, it would be hard for any other cruise to TOP IT!

Also, need to say Hi to Paul929207.

  11. What is with all the people thinking they will be "tracked" in the bathroom? It's not anywhere near that granular. Yes, they can, if desired, see if you are in your cabin. That's it. Princess has no interest in your bathroom habits. There is no reason to get freaked out about the medallion.

Are you sure? What if I inadvertently flush it down the toilet? Will they not know that I did it?

Greetings Thrak. I haven't been on CC for some time and low and behold I see that you are still helping those of us who are electronically challenged out. I just couldn't resist the temptation to respond! As always I am

  12. Well, I really thank each and every one of you. Your advice has saved me a lot of money. No I'm not cancelling the cruise. I now no longer require Hemorrhoid Surgery that the Proctologist recommended, as I got just what I was expecting to get.

As for canceling the cruise, do you think that I would cancel a cruise that I have been waiting to go on for past 4 years? Not hardly and in addition, I have never been on any cruise that was ever a disappointment! And have never complained about anything, well except for the smokers in the cabin directly fore of us and the two of them smoked like chimneys!

But since our very active Roll Call is drawing to an end, well, I was just getting a little bored and thought that I needed some Tabasco in my life, so you are the unlucky victims today!

As those from our Roll Call can tell, th?id=OIP.q2vy0zIMYipX9RW1weZc_gEgEs&pid=15.1&P=0&w=300&h=300 and of course they can confirm it!

Now that I have you . . .83412928.gif under my control.

Watch out for that cloud! daffy-duck27-33127.gif

Hope you forgive me, but in case you don't, I will be on a Cruise of a Lifetime for this Flat Land Hillbilly!

    Fair Winds and Following Seas!

  13. Ok, here goes as I'm going to get this off my chest!

We are booked on the upcoming 28 Day Hawaii, America Samoa & Fr. Polynesia cruise! To date we have received one very impersonal non-descript email  telling us absolutely NOTHING from Princess Cruise Lines.

I know that most of the emails that we have received prior to our previous cruises were Mass Mailings, but they at least told us who our Captain was going to be, not to mention who the Cruise Director was. In addition, we received some info dealing with what we could expect in the way of Entertainment on the cruise!

Well we received one lousy email from the office of the cruise director! WOW, it was so full of platonic garbage and signed Cruise Director! We laughed at it.

What is Jan Schwartz doing as President? Well I can tell you NOT MUCH! We have never been so disappointed with the lack of concern from Princess.

  14. We have a 15 day Hawaii cruise planned for November, but sadly we will more than likely have to cancel. It is a bucket list cruise for my hubby. 3 weeks ago my husband's heart rate went to 240 beats per minute for no reason. He hasn't had heart problems. He was transported to the hospital. They could not get his rate below 230, so they shocked him. Afterwards they checked for blockage. He has very little blockage. So they said it is a misfiring of the electrical system in the heart. He will need an ablation. Sadly he had this same thing happen last Friday and had to be shocked. We see the cardiologist tomorrow, but his regular dr does not feel he should be out at sea for the length of time on the cruise even after the ablation. So we will talk to the Cardiologist and see what he says. We will more than likely cancel. But my husband's health is more important than a cruise right now.

So sorry for you, but have faith in your doctors and above all in God!

However, we went through a very similar event on the morning we were to board the Crown Princess for a 28 day Hawaii and South Seas cruise in Oct 2015.

Long story short, my DW is now doing great but there were many trying times and hospital visits. Ablation followed by Tikosyn (twice daily) and she is purring along just great! Less energy but other than that OK! We are scheduled for the 28 Day cruise this Oct.

Lots of prayers and faith should get you through.

  15. I just completed a 28 day cruise on Royal full suite aft. The soot problem is not corrected as I was told. Every morning soot had to be removed from rails, deck and furniture. It is black and oily. Cabin steward did his best to clean every day. I am an early riser and cleaned small area of rail to enjoy the sunrise. I was told it was worse before. As wonderful as the view is never again unless deck is more protected. Has everything to do with design. Soot is easily trailed into cabin.

So sorry for your bad experience on the Royal. We did a 15 day Hawaiian cruise in late April 2016 on the Star Princess in our first Aft penthouse suite, C749. It was our best cruise ever. There wasn't the slightest evidence of any soot. I would guess that the newer ships have a major design problem. You deserve a major apology and a sizeable refund. I wish you luck.

The 15 Day HawaiianCruise was everything we expected and since we had sailed upon the StarPrincess once before we continue to be amazed at how wonderful it is to cruiseon her! We had sailed to Hawaii 3 yearsago on the Golden Princess and fell in love with the Islands! 17. I guess that you can call us “Old School” ;p as we have always loved “Dressing Up”! However, since we moved to Oklahoma we just don’t get that many opportunities locally!

Just a reminiscence, Prior to our first cruise to Alaska, we both went over 9 or 10 Etiquette videos on YouTube. Just to make sure that we wouldn’t embarrass ourselves. Then we found out that they constantly replace the silver-ware with each course! "WAH-LA" Problem solved!

Now back to Formal Nights, we always take my DW’s dresses, etc. and of course my new Tux! We both love to arrive early in the Piazza and find a place to watch everyone “All Dress to the Nines”! It’s so much fun to see everyone enjoying themselves going out for a great time!

But we never, cast dispersion's on those that choose not too! On one cruise, we wanted to have our pictures taken in our Hawaiian outfits and then had to rush back to the room and change into our “Best Bib & Tucker” for dinner with friends!;)

Rushed but we made it! Whew!

  18. There is more than plenty of food for us on the ship, but we do carry on pre-packaged snacks to take along on excursions.

;p We usually bring snack (peanut butter crackers) for the flight out to either coast. But as for snacking on the ship! Never! That is what the International Cafe is for, what with a constant supply of fresh baked cookies and an assortment of other goodies! Also, you might ask your room steward for a bowl of Almonds! This works for us most of the time! And don't forget the Horizon Court for a veggie plate!

Now I'm getting hungry so I'll quit and get a snack! ;p
