The last time we were in Roatan we did the semi submarine which we enjoyed. We are not beach people, I come from the land of beaches and am generally unimpressed by beaches others get enthusiastic about. Harvest Caye, we did the electric boat the Black Swan, very nice boat and we saw manatees. Both trips through NCL. I wouldn’t say there was much else on Harvest Caye of any interest to us, another time we might take the boat to the mainland.

Can l ask a question please? Do you think a person who uses a cane could get on and off the electric black swan boat? Tia.

We stopped using our Norwegian card years ago when they "updated" their point system.

Originally you got 3 points for every one hundred dollars spent.

They Norwegian, in their wisdom decided to play the "more points" game.

You got one point for every dollar spent; so, that's 100 points per one hundred dollars.

After we did the math on what a "point" really was, it seems that the 3 points under the old system were worth three dollars; under the new system, one hundred points were worth one dollar.

It was good while it lasted; we saved $4500 on cruises before ceasing to use the card.

I decided it wasn't worth it as well. My Amex points fuel my Amazon addiction!

Deck 3 on the Carnival Freedom was one of my favorite places last year. For some reason there were a lot of people on one side but not the other. I think I was on the starboard side.

Just the answer I was looking for!!!

  4. I am 65 and my first cruise was in 2001, that was solo and I loved it. Have done more than 20 since and never had a bad one. One not so great but still not bad (Fred Olsen) but I love the Transatlantics and my next cruise will be Alaska for the 2nd time -fab!

I always book set dinner time (late for me) and ask for an 8 or a 10 top and

I would like to do a transatlantic...I think! Do you fly to London, for example, board the ship, and return to Miami, for example? Did you have a transfer from the airport? I have traveled solo to Costa Rica, but had someone with a sign meet me at the airport, and return me to the airport. TIA

  5. I suggest you have breakfast in the main dining room. Hopefully, they will sit you at a table with a lively bunch of people that you can hang out with for the remainder of the cruise. If you are at one of the bars, strike up a conversation. I've met interesting people that way - singles and couples!

good suggestions. I will also ask the M.D. to seat me with other solos. Currently set up for 'as you wish' or whatever it's called dining. the Utube videos of he Nieuw Amsterdam are awesome. Beautiful ship! Wished I had a booking before December.

  6. only 65 here, but I'm going to ask you for suggestions for meeting fellow solos, besides meet and greet and roll calls. I'm not very outgoing when it comes to just sitting down next to someone who looks to be traveling solo, but I really enjoy meeting new people.
