  1. We spent last night at Hyatt House in Jersey City pre-cruise. Best $ every spent on a hotel. Very nice. Clean rooms, AMAZING views!!!!! Awesome complimentary breakfast. Easy commute into city as Path train is directly beside it. Highly recommend!

How far to Manhattan Cruise Port?

  2. True! I upgraded from balcony to haven forward suite last year on breakaway. Your promo doesn't change, but you have a butler, haven restaurant, captains cocktail party, goodies delivered daily to your room, etc. enjoy your cruise!

Thank you so much for info ! I can’t understand why the NCL told me otherwise!

  3. You get the promos you have now. So instead of the up to five by booking Haven outright, you get the usual two if you do have the UDP and the SDP with your current booking. You will not get shore promo, and internet promo unless they were part of a promo at the time of your mini-suite booking on your folio, or the extras points toward your Latitudes Status that come from buying a Haven cabin.

Adding guests later is dicey if you have that Promo now as they do shut down the ability to add guests at some point if you have that as a perk now and try to add somone later on in the timeline process.

There is a difference between Perks and Promos. Yes, you would get the Perks of the Haven for sure, but you do not get all the Promos of the Haven as if you had bought it outright.

Hi I was just told if I win a bid to the Haven from my spa balcony I would not receive the perks of the Butler , restaurant , etc. not sure how true this was. I feel the rep was wrong. But need to make sure before I upgrade. Doesn’t any one know for sure?

  4. It looks like the OP needs a hotel for Oct 13, a Saturday night. On lastminutetravel.com I'm seeing the Grand Hyatt at Grand Central Station for $263 plus tax.

The Millenium Hilton at UN Plaza on the East River is $236 plus tax. For $50 you can purchase access to the Skyline Club lounge - "Located on the 30th floor of the West Tower, the Skyline Club lounge has exceptional views of the Midtown and East River skylines, as well as continental breakfast, afternoon heavy appetizers, honor beer & wine and internet access. Access to the lounge can be purchased for $50 per day."

Both hotels are full service with restaurants and bars and should definitely fulfill the OP's "nice" requirement.

Oh wow. Thank you that sounds great. I will check it out

  5. Exactly! That's exactly what our group is doing in March. We don't want to go tour NYC!! Just a nice hotel to relax in the night before our cruise! We wouldn't get there until later in the evening so probably just sit at the hotel bar for a couple drinks and head to bed!

Yes this is exactly what we are looking for no sightseeing or running around. Just a nice hotel to stay in.

  6. Your choice of hotel is not a popular one. If you provide the requested details, there might be another option out there for you to find a "nice" hotel.

Yes I am seeing Skyline had some bad reviews. We are two people not looking to sightsee but looking to gave a nice hotel preferably under $350 to just relax with a bar and restaurant for the evening. Then hop in a taxi to the port.

  7. I agree. If you post more details - exact date, hotel budget, number of people, bed size requirements, flying (what airport) or driving, arrival time, etc - we can make suggestions.

We are just taking the train in from Ct the night before. 2 adults

  8. Good idea to read the reviews in TripAdvisor. Some love the hotel .... others not so much.

Thank you - I did and now I am nervous. I should remember can’t keep everyone happy.

  9. Great location. Very nice hotel. Is actually in walking distance to the port. I think you will be happy with it. Restaurant is very expensive. Eat elsewhere.

Oh thank you so much. The no brand name was throwing me!

  11. We’re staying there 1 night before we leave on the Breakaway Feb 2., I can let you know what we think about it afterwards.

Booked because it was close to the Intrepid museum and the ship. I was also thrilled with the queen beds instead of doubles as we’ll be sharing the room with our kids.

  12. Gooooood morning, Seadog - lovely morning pictures & excellent reporting as always. Satellite WiFi uploads seemed fine (tip to others - not quoting the post in replying do help speed up download/data transfer, saving the bandwidth) & was faster than download for us on the BA last time - what a bummer they managed to block youtube playing while not rolling out the new 3-tiered WiFi package, like the Escape or GA. Any luck using Facetime on iPhone to do video calling or just voice (VoIP) calling.

Packing a 20' USB extension cable along this weekend to use ... with no bedside charging port by the lamp (till NCL dry dock the ship or otherwise get to do a makeover)

Where and how fast is the ship cruising this morning, already off the coast of VA or NC/SC ?? Ship's navigational channel offered less info than the Gem & other smaller ships. Any early sightings of chair hogs yet ?

Boy, they sure kept to a small coffee pot in their delivery - great tips, order 4 cups for 2, yeah.

CC's Meet & Mingle is almost certain -by default - to be held at La Cucina at 11 AM this morning but the mystery is the BTS tour, has been held at 10 AM ... meeting in front of the ShoreEx Deck next to Guest Services. If you walk by & ask them, should be able to find out if they are doing anything different this week or next week on request from members trying to do both. Alvin, new CD taking over for DanDan, I think as the name seemed to ring a bell, was one of the CruiseNext staff (hometown - Asia) we had last year, pretty friendly & split up the tour group into half & did the laundry dept. first,

Have a wonderful morning, continuing to follow - let us know if they are still doing nightly specials at O'Sheehan's as things like Prime Rib would be announced in the Freestyle Dailies.

Oh no ! What happened to DanDan? Loved him when we were on the Breakaway last year. Will be back on the Breakaway in February. Love your review and info

  13. Finally got our money back from the cancelled Irma cruise, so I'm checking prices and dates this morning. We're a little gun shy with all these storms so decided to look at LA cruises. Never done one anyway so what the heck.

Normally, I'd use a TA but I decided to just check things out first and just for kicks, entered my wife's VIFP number just to see if she had any different rates. WOW -- I thought it was a system error. OV's and IV's for the Inspiration Oct 30 pops up at $55 and $75 PP. I'm freaking out because even though we've had some casino deals before, they were nothing like this. And the funny thing is, she doesn't gamble much. Maybe a $100 in a week on some penny slots. Plays that quarter push machine thing more than anything.

Anyway, I don't dare close the page and book away. What a nice thing after the disappointment of our cancelled hurricane cruise. Even ended up using fewer FF miles to fly there too!

I went back and checked our email and we received nothing from players club recently. In fact, I can't even duplicate the deal now, although that may be because we used it up.

My only slight disappointment is there was no bargain on suites, but heck I'm still so happy. This is the first time the taxes and port fees were more than the fare!!!:D:D:D:D

Can you tell me what number is the VIFP?

  14. So concierge letter saying all excursions were cancelled isn't true and by your own account long lines at guest services isn't ncl it's the passengers, and by your account you must have been the only one to enjoy that cruise. You said the lines where long.

I was on this cruise too. I could not believe after reading this thread that it was the same cruise we were on. There were some rough seas but I have experienced much worse. Plus I put my trust in our captains decision. Lastly you can’t expect perfect seas during hurricane season .... maybe you should consider another time if the year??? By the way there certain excursions.

  17. pegdave, I will try for a SECOND time in this very thread..... the addresses relative to Black Falcon Pier are located in Post #13...... 12 Drydock is the GARAGE not the Bow Lot..

The Bow Lot is EDIC Pier for GPS purposes.

Sorry to be asking ago - but when I enter edic pier in gps nothing comes up. I need an address - which one should I enter to get the bow lot[emoji53]
